5 Installing the SIM Card Important! The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can b e easily dama ged by scratch es or bending. Use caution when inser ting or removing th e card and keep a ll SIM cards out of reach from children. Make sure the gol d contacts of the card face int o the phone, then slide the SIM card into the socket.
Section 1: Getting Started 6 Installing the Battery 1. Align the battery so tha t the 3 brass tabs on the end align with th e 3 brass prongs at the bottom o f the battery co mpartment.
7 3. Place the batter y cover on and sl ide it into place until it clicks. Make sure that the battery is properly instal led before switching on the phone. Charging a Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion ba ttery. Use the travel adapter to charge the battery , and use only Sam sung approved batteries and chargers.

Volu me/Menu Navigation key : Allows you to adjust the ringer volume in standby mode or adjust the voice volume during a call.

15 Y our phone offers a set of f unctions that can be customized for your ease and specific needs. These functions are arra nged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using th e two soft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allo ws you to view and alter the sett ings of a particular function.

17 Navigation Key Use the directional keys on the naviga tion key to browse menus, sub menus, and lists. Press the up or down naviga tion when jumping to highlighte d links on the web. Each key also acts as a shortcut to launch applica tions. The Down key is set as the shortcut to the Contact List.

19 Ending a Ca ll When you want to finish your ca ll, briefly press th e key . Redialing the Last Number All incoming, o utgoing and mis sed calls ar e listed in the Recent Calls Menu. If the number or caller i s listed in your Addr ess Book, the name associated displays.

When you copy entries to the phone, duplicate en tries are created. Note: Op tions are availa ble for phone entri es that are not avail able when store d to the SIM card.
45 Using the Service Dialing Numbers Y ou can view the list of Se rvice Dialing Numb ers (SDN) assigned by your service provider . These numbers include emerge ncy numb ers, customer service numbers and directory enquiries. 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key .

63 • Side Keypad Lock : when this option is check ed, all keys on bo th sides of the phone are locked. T o disable this option, press and ho ld one of the keys. Display Settings In this menu, you can ch ange various sett ings for the display or backlight.

67 • Minute Minder : sets whether or not the phone beeps every minute during an outgoing call to keep you informed of the l ength of your call. • Connection T one : sets whether or not the phone to beep when your call is connected to the system.

Press the Select soft key to save changes. Call Barring (SIM Dependent) This menu option prov ides the ability to set the band for your handset.

73 Change P assword The Change Password feature allows you to change your current phone password to a new one. Y ou must enter the current password before you can specify a new one. The password is preset to “00000000” at the factory . Once you have entered a new password, you are asked to conf irm it by entering it again.

75 Voice Command Settings Choice Lists If Voice Signal is not abso lutely confident that it has correctly id entified a name o r number , it can display a choice list of up to three possi bilities, and pr ompt you to confirm t he corre ct one.

Section 11: Push to T alk 100 Unavailab le : This icon indica tes the contact is una vailable to receive PTT calls, because the cont act has been logged off, is in the power-off state, or it is out of cove rage.
