16 Chapter 1 Hot Keys The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer 's controls like screen brightness and volu me output. T o activate hot keys, press and hold the < Fn> key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination.

Chapter 1 21 Power management This computer has a built-in powe r management unit that monitors system activity . System activity refers to any activity involving one or more of the following devices: keyboard, mouse, hard disk, peripherals connected to the computer , and vide o memory .
22 Chapter 1 Burn backup discs From the Backup page of Acer eRecovery Management , you can burn the factory default image or back up drivers and applications. 1. Click on St art > All Programs > A cer > Acer eRe covery Management . 2. Acer eRecovery Management opens to the Backup page.
Chapter 1 23 Restore The restore feature allows you to restore or recover the system from a factory default image or from previously created CD and DVD backups. Y ou can also reinstall applications and drivers for your Acer system. 1. Click on Star t , All Programs , Acer , Acer eReco very Manageme nt .

Chapter 1 25 General controls When watching video clips, movies or slideshows using full-screen resolution, two pop-up contro l panels are shown when you move the pointer . They automaticall y disappear after several seconds. The Navigation Controls panel appears at the top and the Player Controls panel appears at the bottom of the screen.

Chapter 2 33 BIOS Setup Utility The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration prog ram built into y our computer ’s BIOS (Basic Input/ Output System). Y our computer is already properly configu red and optimi zed, and you do not need to run this utility .
34 Chapter 2 Invoking BIOS Setup The setup function can only be invoked by pressing F2 when Press <F2> to enter Setup message is prompted on the bottom of screen during POST . The setup uses a menu driven interfac e to allow the user to configure their system.
Chapter 2 35 Main The Main screen disp lays a summary of your computer hardware information, and also includes basi c setup parameters. It allows the user to specif y st andard IBM PC A T system parameters. NOTE: The screen above is for your reference only .

Chapter 4 73 Intermittent Problems Intermittent system hang problems can be caused by a variety of reasons that have nothin g to do with a hardware defect, such as: cosmic radiation, electros tatic discharge, or software errors. FRU replacement should be considered only when a recurring prob lem exists.
74 Chapter 4 Undetermined Problems The diagnostic proble ms does not identify wh ich adapter or device failed, which in stalled devices are incorrect, whether a short circuit is suspected, or whether the system is inoperative.
