Assembling 10 Install the SIM or USIM card When you subscribe to a c ellular ser vice, you will r eceive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, with subscription details, such as y our personal identification number (PIN) and optional ser vices.
Assembling 11 Charge the battery only with a charger . Y ou cannot ● charge the battery with the USB cable. When your batt er y is low , the device will emit a ● warning tone and display a lo w battery message. The battery icon will also be empty .
Assembling 12 Plug the USB pow er adapter into a power outlet. 2 Y ou can use the device while it is charging, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the touch screen ma y ● not function due to an unstable power supply .

Getting star ted 24 Y ou can set the device to aler t you to various ev ents in Silent mode. F rom the Home scr een, open the application list and select Settings → Sound → V ibrate → Alw ays or Only in Silent mode . When you switch to Silent mode , Vibr ation will appear in place of Silent on the notifications panel .
Getting star ted 25 Drag the slider to adjust the lev el of brightness. 3 Select 4 OK . The brightness level of the displa y will affect how quickly the device consumes batter y pow er .
Getting star ted 26 Set an unlock PIN code F rom the Home screen, open the application list and 1 select S ettings → L o cation and security → C onfigure lock screen → PIN . Enter a new PIN (numeric) and select 2 Con tinue . Enter the PIN again and select 3 OK .
Getting star ted 27 › Activat e the mobile track er When someone inserts a new SIM or USIM card in your device, the mobile tr acker feature will automatically send the contact number to specified recipients t o help you locate and reco ver your device .
Getting star ted 28 Enter t ex t Y ou can enter text by selecting charac ters on the virtual keypad, inputting handwriting on the screen, or speaking wor ds into the micr ophone. Y ou cannot enter text in some languages. T o enter t ex t, you should change the writing language to one of the suppor ted languages.

Web 42 Get directions to a specific destination › F rom the Home screen, open the application list and 1 select Maps . Select 2 . Enter the addr esses of the star ting location and the 3 ending location. T o enter an addr ess from your contact list or point the location on the map , selec t → C ontacts , Point on map , or Starred plac es .
Web 43 Select 4 Ye s . When your friend acc epts your invitation, you can shar e locations. Select a fr iend from the list. 5 Y our fr iends ’ locations are marked with their phot os on the map . Entertainment 54 Ent er tainment Music play er Learn to list en to your favourite music while on the go with the music player . The music player supports the following file formats: mp4, m4a, 3gp , wm.
Entertainment 55 Play music › After transf erring music files to your device , F rom the Home screen, open the application list and 1 select Music player . Select a music categor y 2 → a music file. T ap the music play er field at the right of the screen.

Entertainment 57 Camer a Learn how t o capture and view photos and videos. Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pix els (3.2 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels . The camera int er face appears only in the landscape ● orientation.

By connecting the device to a PC, you can synchr onise files with Window s M edia Play er , transfer da ta to and from your device dir ec tly , and use the Samsung Kies program.

Settings 101 Encrypt tablet ● : Set a PIN or a password t o encr ypt the device to pr otec t data and information sa ved on the device. Once the device is encrypted, you must ent er the password each time you turn on the device . Y ou must first charge the battery because it may take more than an hour to encrypt your device .
Settings 102 Applications Change the settings for managing installed applica tions. Manage applications ● : Acc ess the list of the applications installed on the device and check the application information. Running services ● : View the services you are using and access them to manage .
