3.2. Channel Input The 10-bit digitizer family can be co nfigured with a variety of front-end m ezzanine boards offering different capabilities. The curren tly available front end options are detailed below: Front End Option Impedance Bandwidth Guaranteed (typical ) / Risetime BW Limiter selections FS Voltage Ranges Maximum Offset / Max.
3.2.5. Bandwidth and Rise Time The bandwidth specification indicates the frequ ency at which an input signal will be atten uated by 3 dB (approxim ately 30% loss of am plitude). The bandwidth a lso affects the m inimum rise and fall t imes that can be passed through the front-end electron ics.
3.3. Data Acquisition The table below summ arizes the characteristics discussed in the sections that follow: Model Agilent # Max. Sampling Rate Max. CONVERTERS PER CHANNEL/ CHANNELS Default Memory poi.
The Single Acquisition mode is the normal operation of most digitizer products. In this mode an acquisition cons ists of a waveform recorded with a single trigge r. The user se lects the sampling rate and acquisition memory size and sets the number of segments to 1 (default value).
This cannot be done in larger crates such as the Acqiri s CC121. The actual tran sfer speed obtainable will d epend on many other system characteris tics. 3.4. Trigger Normally the trigger settings applied to the d igitizer are used to determine the time at which th e device will stop acquiring data.
3.4.8. Pre- and Post-Trigger Delay To increase trigger flexibility a pre- or post-trigge r delay can be applied to the trigger positio n. The amount of pre-trigger del ay can be adjusted between 0 and 100% of th e acquisition time window (i.
A full internal calibration of a digitizer can b e very time consuming (> 100 s/digitizer), in particu lar for the HZ models. There fore, several other o ptions ar e available.
NOTE: The External Trigger Output functionality is implemented in the h ardware. No Trigger Out signa l occurs for software-ge nerated triggers s uch as those of the A UTO mode of Acqi risLive or thro ugh the use of t he function AcqrsD1_forceTrigger .

4. Running the AcqirisLive Application AcqirisLive is an application to contro l and demonstrate the capabilities o f Acqiris Digitizers on a single machine. AcqirisMAQS is a m ore advanced application offering many interesting possibilities for the control of acquisition systems in a single or multi-machine environment.
4.2. Control Panel and Functions 4.2.1. Control Panel Mode In AcqirisLive there are two control panel mode s available, Oscilloscope Mode and Transient Recorder Mode. The choice of m ode is entirel y determined by the preference of the use r. Both modes provide the same set of fun ctional capabilities but display the settin gs slightly differently.
Oscillo scope Mode Transient Recorder Mode 4.2.2. Displaying Multiple Traces If multi-channel modules, or seve ral single channel modul es , are installed on the P CI bus, multiple waveform displays, one from each installed c han nel, are overlaid on t he display.
As an alternative to contro lling the channels to be displayed fro m the control panel you can also control th em by selecti ng the desired c hannels from the list of channel gain s shown at the right hand side of the display window.
1. Clicking on the white numeric display of the voltage scale will show a pop-up list. Select the desired gain setting with the mouse pointer. 2. Clicking on the Decrement / Increment icons will step th e voltage scale up or down to the next level for each click of th e mouse.
discussion, a valid trigger indicates a trigger signal meeting the trigger conditions at a time when the digitizer is armed and rea dy to acquire data. In Single and Norm al modes the display will only be updated after each active digitizer has recei ved a trigger.
• Make sure the maximum num ber of sample s ( MAX samples in Memory panel) is large enough. • Select the desired tim e per division setti ng ( timebase panel): the fastest sampling rate for the curren t digitizer, compatible with the maximum number of samp les, will be selected and applied to all digitizers in the system.

Selecting the “Write files at end option” acquires all wavefo rms into memory first, before converting to the selected format and writing the data to disk. This op tio n allows for faster data capture times. Selecting the “Show waveforms” allows the user to see th e waveforms before writing them to disk.

When the program checks for an event from the operating system (e.g. to react to user input), it can put itself to sleep for a specified perio d of time. This gives other applications m o re processor tim e, but limits the performance of AcqirisLive in terms of maximum acquisition rate.
5. Running the GeoMapper Application 5.1. Who needs a Geographical Map of Modules The GeoMapper application giv es the user the possibility of telling the Acqiris driver crucial details of the physical position of modu les when this information canno t be deduced di rectly.
Selecting a row will cause all of the LED's of modules i n that Bus to be t urned on RED. This should make it easy to identify which crate the modules are in. The third step is to specify the num ber of slots in each crate. This is shown below: The 4 th step consists of arranging the m odules of each crate into the correct order.
The GeoMapper application will always work with the standard AqGeo.map file. If you need to have several such files corresponding to different configur ations it is up to you to either rename the file s or transfer them to other directories in an appropriate manner.
