7 RF-AHD35 Using the har d drive enclosure Installing your har d drive in the enclosur e Read these safet y precautions before you install your hard drive in the enclosur e: • Use only the ac cessories pr ovided in the acc essory package. • Always unplug the A C power adapter bef ore installing the hard drive.
8 2 Secure one metal brace to each side of the drive using two scr ews. 3 Place four rubber pads onto each of the two metal braces on the hard drive as shown. 4 Slide the drive into the enclosure, firmly connect the SA T A connector , then secure the driv e to the enclosure by tightening the four screws through the rubber pads.

10 Connecting the enclosure to y our computer Before connecting your external storage e nclosure: • Confirm that your sy stem supports SA T A. If your system does not suppor t SA T A, please install an eSA T A host card. • Confirm that th e eSA T A port on you r system is working properly .
11 RF-AHD35 Note : Some motherboards do not suppor t eSA T A hot-plug and play function. If your mo therboard does not, follow these steps to set up your RF-AHD35: 1. Shut down your computer . 2. T u rn o n y ou r RF -A HD3 5, th en c onn ec t i t t o yo ur com pu ter.
12 Note: Most U SB devices require that USB device softwar e drivers be installed b efore connecting them to a computer . When installing a USB device, always follow the USB peripheral’ s installation ins tructions provided by the manufacturer. Using y our memory c ard r eader The enclosure provides two memor y card slots.

F ormatting a memory card T o format a memor y card: 1 Click Star t , and then click My Computer . 2 Under Removable St orage , right-click the memor y card icon representing the card type inser ted, then click Fo rm at .

21 RF-AHD35 Using y our enclosure Starting Roxio BackOn T rack T o star t Roxio BackOn Track: 1 Pr ess the backup button (t he button with the Rocketfish logo on it) on the front of the enclosure. Or , click Star t , BackOn T rack , then click BackOn T rack Home .
22 2 Complete the P roduct Registration info rmation as prompted (first time only). The main scr een opens. 3 T o back up or restore files , follow the on-screen guide. For h el p, pr es s F1 or click Help . Customizing y our card reader T o make the memor y card slots easier to r ecognize, you can customize the drive icons.
23 RF-AHD35 T o install the multimedia card reader sof tware: 1 Insert the included Mul timedia C ard Reader CD into your disc drive. The software starts automat ically . If it doesn’t, browse y our disc drive, then double -click Run.ex e . 2 Click Install Multimedia Card Reader .
24 4 Click Fi nis h to c omplete the multimedia card reader software installation. Y our computer r estarts. After the multimedia card reader soft ware is installed, Windows display s new drive ic ons for each of the slots instead of the standard Windows drive icon.
25 RF-AHD35 Uninstalling the multimedia card reader software T o uninstall the multimedia card reader software: 1 Open the Control Panel . 2 F ollow the on-screen instruc tions to remove the software completely from your computer . 3 After the program is completely uninstalled, r estart your computer .

27 RF-AHD35 2 Locate the Utilities f o lder on the Mac OS CD and double -click it to op en the folder . 3 Double- click the Dri ve Set up icon to open the progr am. 4 In the list of drives, select the drive you want to initialize. 5 Click Initialize .
28 Note : If the hard drive will not mount on your system, format the drive with a F A T32 or NTFS par tition first through a PC system. Once formatt ed, c o nnect th e [name of enclosur e] to your Mac and run the Disk Utility tool a gain.
29 RF-AHD35 My computer does not detect the enclosure • Check the power adapter and make sure the adapter is work ing. • Make sure all of the cables and plug s are securely fastened. • Make sure that the SA T A cable or the USB cable is connected firmly to y our enclosure and computer .
30 My memory card ap pears in My C omputer but I get errors when writing or reading • Make sure that t he memory ca rd is fully inserted into t he slot. • T r y a different memory card of the same type in the same slot. If a differ ent memory card works, r eplace the original memor y card .
