6 RightWay 355 G PS Navigator H ardware Your RightWay 355 GPS Navi gator is a sophi sticated electroni c device. To ensure a l ong lasting and trouble free experience , please tak e great care to avoi d dropping or damagi ng the device. A. Power But ton B.
7 Power Options The RightWay Navigator can be powered usi ng the internal rechargeable battery, D C power (cigarette li ghter adapter) , or AC powe r (wall charger). The RightWay can be us ed for navigati on while the unit i s recharging. AC Power (Wall Charger ) 1.
8 Powering On & Off Press and hol d the power button for three seco nds to turn ON the RightWay 355 GPS Navigator. To fully turn the Ri ghtWay 35 5 GPS Navi gator off, press and hold t he power button. Notice The indicator li ght is green when th e unit is on a nd the batt ery is fully charged .
9 Programs Window When you turn on you r RightWay Navi gator, the foll owing screen appears. From this screen you m ay choose to navi gate to a destin ation, listen to musi c, watch a movie, read an e-b ook, view p hotos or adjust th e settings simply by tap ping your choice.
10 Navigation To begin navi gation, tap the „Navi gatio n ‟ butt on. A screen wi ll appear asking if you have read the End Us er‟s Licen se Agreement.
11 The very first time yo u use the RightWay 3 55 GPS Navigator, it can tak e up to 10 minutes to initializ e the GPS. After the first time, GPS receptio n should start with in 1 minute of turning o n the device. If the navigation device ha s been switched off for more than a week, the n ext initialization can take up to 5 minute s.
12 Main Window The MAIN WIND OW opens when the navi gation softwar e starts. You can reach al l of the navigati on software functions from thi s wind ow. The fol lowing secti ons will demonstrate how and when to use ea ch functi on. Returning to the Main Window To return to the Mai n Wind ow from any other wi ndow , t ap (the back but ton).
13 Status Indicators When the unit is on, in the upper right-h and corner you will find three icons. These symbols provide val uable informati on about your devi ce.
14 Power Icon The Power symbol can di splay the following condi tions of the built in battery: The device is powe red by an external power source. The batt ery is chargi ng. The device is powe red by its internal battery. Battery i s fully charged.
15 GPS Icon The GPS symbol can show the foll owing GPS reception statu s: Acquiring Satellites Data i s being received from less than three sat ellites. Position can not be calculat ed. GPS Ready Data is bein g received from at least thr ee satellites.
16 Compass Icon The Compass symbol shows the di rection you are current ly headin g using the followi ng points of the compass: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW. NOTE: Th e direction in dicator w ill not appear until the GPS is ready and a positi on can be determined.
17 Menus Many buttons hav e menus whi ch open when acti vated. To activate a m enu, tap on th e button wi th your finger or stylu s. To close a menu wi thout selecti ng a functi on, t ap on the same button you u sed to open the menu. Volume Control The volume of the spo ken dri ving in structions can be adjusted du ring navi gation.
18 Software Keybo ards Three keyboards ar e availabl e for entering destinati on information. These ke yboa rds appear on the screen when text entries are necessa ry. All entries can be made on the softwar e keyboard by usin g the fingerti ps or stylus.
19 Special Keys Spacebar. Moves the cursor forward on e space. Found on the alph abetic and nu meric keyboards. Delete. Removes th e previous character & m oves the cursor back one space. Found on the alph abetic and nu meric keyboards. Opens the numeri c keyboard.
20 Predictive Text Th e RW 355 GPS Na vigator ha s a predicti ve text feature to facilit ate speedy address ent ry. Starting with the first letter or number y ou enter, the RW 355 i s searching i ts data base for matches and di splaying the most li kely resul ts in a li st.
21 The N ew Destination Button New destinati ons are desti nations that you have not y et navigated to , or those that y ou have not yet stored. Destin ations may be selected by enteri ng an address, s electing a poi nt of interest (POI), or selecting from the qui ck search fun ction.
22 Enter an Addre ss 1. From the MAIN WINDO W, tap New De stination. A m enu will app ear with your options for entering your de stinati on. 2. Tap Enter an Address . 3. After selectin g a search area, a m enu will appear giving you the opti on to enter an address either Str eet First or City Fi rst.
23 New Destinatio n – Street First Street First can be us ed to find your de stinati on. It is help ful when the exact ci ty is unk nown . For example, you want Grand Av enue but you do not know i f it is in Minneapolis or St. Paul. In thi s case, enterin g the street first assi sts in determini ng the city.
24 New Destination – City First The City First opti on is the fastest way t o enter an add ress when all information i s known. 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, ta p New Destin ation , then tap Ent er an Address . 2. Tap City First to open t he ADDRESS WINDO W.
25 Points of Intere st (POIs) Points of Interest or POIs are useful addresses that are organized accor ding to particul ar criteria. POIs in clude ai rpor ts, restaurant s, hotels, gas stati ons, government offices, banks, hospitals, shoppi ng centers, etc.
26 Search for POI A search for a speci fic poi nt of interest may b e conducted one of three ways: Nearby Searches for desti nations l ocated withi n a given radius of your cur rent location. This feature is useful for locating destinations such the next gas station or clos est hospital .
27 Search for POI – Nearby 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, tap N ew Destination , and then tap Search for POI . 2. Tap Nearby . 3. A list of POI cat egories will appear. Use (Up) and (D own) to scr oll through the list. To accept a category f rom the li st , t ap on t he entry.
28 Search for POI – In A City 1. In the MAIN WINDO W, tap New Destin ation , and then tap Search for POI . 2. Tap in a City . 3. Enter the name or the postal code of the desti nation locati on. 4. Specify a categ ory from which you woul d li ke to select a POI.
29 Search for POI – Nationwide 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, tap N ew Destination , and then tap Search for POI . 2. Tap Nationw ide. 3. The POI OF NAT IONAL SIGN IFICANCE WINDOW op ens. Tap on th e name of the category from which you w ould like to select .
30 Direct Acce ss The Direct Acces s button all ows you to quickl y access frequently used POIs such as gas stations and restau rants. The Di rect Access bu tton is subdivided into three small er buttons. The symbols for the P OI categories sel ected for di rect access can be seen on these small er buttons.
31 Changing the Direct Access POI Categories 1. In the MAIN W INDOW , t ap Options , and then tap Settings. 2. Tap POI. 3. In the Direct Acc ess 1 fiel d, tap (Li st) and select a P OI category. 4. Repeat the above step in th e Direct Access 2 and Direct Access 3 fiel ds.
32 The My Des tination Button The My Destinati on button i s used to access favorit e or frequently used desti nation s as w ell as destinati ons recently entered. Tap the My Destinations button to select a destination from: • A list of favorite destinations you have saved.
33 Favorites Destinations to whi ch you often travel can be saved on the FAV ORITES li st so you only have to enter the addre ss once. Th e RightWay 355 GPS Navi gator can save up to 300 different destinations on your FA VORITES l ist .
34 Saving to Favorites After an Address Has Been Entered 1. From the MAIN W INDOW, tap My Destin ations , and then tap Last Destin ations . 2. A list of desti nations you have p reviously navi gated to will appear. Tap on the desti nation to add to your FAV ORITES LIS T.
35 Selecting a Destination f r om the Favorites List 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, t ap M y Destinations , and then tap Favorites . 2. Your FAVOR ITE LIST will appear. Use ( Up) and (D own) to scroll through the li st. Tap the name of the destin ation to which you woul d like to navigate.
36 Modifying You r Favorites List Us i ng the Option s Button Rename Destination 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, t ap M y Destinations , and then tap Favorites . 2. Your FAVOR ITE LIST will appear. Use ( Up) and (D own) to scroll through the li st. Tap the name of the de stinat ion to whi ch you would like to rename.
37 Designating a Home Address 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, t ap My Destinations , and then tap Favorites . 2. Your FAVOR ITE LIST will appear. Use ( Up) and (D own) to scroll through the li st. Tap the name of the de stinati on to which you would like to designate as your hom e address.
38 Delete a Fav orite Destination 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, t ap M y Destinations , and then tap Favorites . 2. Your FAVOR ITE LIST will appear. Use ( Up) and (D own) to scroll through the li st. Tap the name of the de stinati on to which you would like to delete.
39 Add a Favorite to Route 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, tap M y Destinations , and th en tap Favorites . 2. Your FAVOR ITE LIST will appear. Use (Up) and (D own) to scroll through the li st. Tap the name of the de stinati on to which you would like to add t o your route .
40 Last Destinatio ns The RightWay Navi gator saves th e last 30 desti nations to whi ch you have navigated i n the Last Destinati ons list. Y ou may select a desti nation from the Last Desti nati ons list or add a destination to you r favorites. Selecting a Destination f r om the Last Destinat ions List 1 .
41 Adding a Favo r ite from the Last Destination s List 1 . In the MA IN WINDOW, t ap M y Destinations , and then tap Last Destin ations . 2. A list of your Last Desti nations appears. U se (Up) and (Down) to scroll through the list. Tap the name of the desti nation you woul d like t o save to fav orites .
42 T he Take Me Home Button Tap the Take Me Home button to: Immediately route from your current position to your home address. NOTE: If your hom e address has not previ ously been speci fied on your FAVORIT ES LIST, when you tap Tak e Me Home , you will be prompted to ente r your home addres s.
43 The Show Map Button Tap the Show Map button to: Show your exact location on a map. Select a destination using the map..
44 Selecting a Destination Us ing the Map 1. In the MAIN W INDOW , t ap th e Show Map button. 2. Tap (Destination search). 3. The map opens i n Destin ation Search Mode. Tap on the poi nt to which you wi sh to navigat e. 4. The destin ation that you hav e selected appears under the c ross hairs.
45 The Start Navigati on Button Tap the Start Navigation button to: View map in Preview Mode Show Turn- by -Turn List of directions View map in Navigation Mode View map in Destination .
46 Map in Preview Mode In the Preview Mod e, the enti re route is visible wi th a small flag marki ng the destinati on. The route and the esti mated travel time are al so displ ayed. The map opens i n Preview Mod e after a desti nation or route has b een entered and the Sta rt Navigation butt on has been tapped.
47 The Show Turn- by -Turn List Bu tton Tap the Show Tu rn- by -Turn List bu tton to vi ew detailed directi ons of the calculated route before startin g navigation or at any time duri ng navigation . This open s the TURN- BY -TUR N LIST WINDOW wh ich displays all of the driving instructions i n table form.
48 Map in Navigation Mode Tap Start Navigat ion to vi ew the map in Navi gati on Mode . When operati ng in Navigation Mode, the di rection you are travelin g is at the top. 1 Sign postings to be followed a re displ ayed here. 2 Po sted speed l imits (where a vailable ) are di splayed here.
49 8 A triangle i n orange shows your cur rent positi on on the map . The map a rea di splayed continuall y changes so that your cur rent posi tion is al ways centered on t he map.
50 To Exit Navigat i on Mode Tap (Back) to qui t navigation. A window prompt s you to confirm. To Return to the Main Window Tap (Back) to return to the MA IN WINDOW. If you are currentl y navigating , you are prompted to confi rm your decisi on to quit navi gation.
51 Map Modificat ions in Navigat i on M ode When the map i s open in Navi gation Mode, tap an y point on the map to bri ng up map modifi cation buttons . 2D/3D Tap this but ton to change betwe en 2D and 3D map view. Th e symbol for the m ode that i s currently set is marked orange.
52 Map in Destination Searc h M ode From either Previ ew Mode or Navi gation Mode, tap (Destinati on search). In the Destinat ion Search M ode, the map‟ s orientati on does not change. North i s always at the top. A pair of cross hai rs can be seen wh en the map i s in Desti nation Search Mode.
53 Operating in Des tination Search Mode 1. Tap on the poi nt to whi ch you wish to navi gate. The desti nation th at you have selected appears unde r the cross hair s. 2. Tap (OK). 3. Buttons wi th various functi ons appear. Take Me There Immedi ately begin s navigation to that location .
54 To Exit Destinat ion Search Mode Tap (Desti nation search) to exit the Destinati on Search Mode and return to t he window from whi ch you started th is mode.

57 General Routin g Information Starting Point The starting point of a route is the poi nt at which you wan t to begin you r tri p. This does not need to be your current l ocation. For exampl e, if you are planni n g a route for a vacation, your hotel could be entered as the starti ng point.
58 Creating a Rout e 1. In the MAIN W INDOW, tap Options button, t hen tap Rout e Planning button. 2. The ROUTE PLAN NING WIND OW opens. Tap Specify Startin g Point b utton. 3. The START ING POINT menu opens . Tap the but ton correspond ing to the how you wish you enter your starti ng poin t.
59 5. Tap the Add R oute Point but ton. The ROUTE PO INT menu opens. Tap the bu tton correspondi ng to how you wi sh you enter your desti nation. 6. Enter the route p oint, and th en tap the Add but ton. The selected de stinati on appears next to the flow numb er “1” , i ndicatin g that it is the first stage of the rout e.
60 Changin g the Starting Point of a Route 1. In the ROUTE PLAN NING W INDOW, tap fl ow number “0” (th e starting poin t). 2. The START ING POINT menu opens . Tap the button correspondi ng to how y ou wish to enter your new starti ng poin t. 3. Enter the new starti ng poi nt.
61 Changin g the Order of R oute Points 1. In the ROUTE PLAN NING W INDOW, tap th e route poin t you want to change. 2. A menu wi ll appear with route management options: Route Point Up Moves the select ed route point up one stage. Example: Route Point 2 bec omes Route Poin t 1 Route Point Dow n Moves the selected route poin t down one stage.
62 Deleting a Rou te Point 1. In the ROUTE PLAN NING W INDOW, tap th e route poin t you want to cha nge. NOTE: The starti ng point (fl ow number "0") can not be moved no r deleted. 2. A menu appears with the foll owing route m anagement opt ions: 3.
63 Saving Routes 1. In the ROUTE PLAN NING W INDOW, tap Options . 2. A menu wi ll appear. Tap Sav e Route . 3. Using the al phabetic keyboard, ent er a name for the rout e. Tap Save . 4. The route i s saved to the SAVED ROUTES list un der the name you entered.
64 Using Saved Rou tes 1. In the ROUTE PLAN NING W INDOW, tap Options . 2. A menu wi ll appear. Tap the Sa ved Route s button. 3. The SAVED R OUTES li st will appear. 66 Simulating Rout es 1. In the ROU TE PLANNING W IND OW , after eith er loading a saved route or entering your route points, tap Sh ow Route button. 2. The map opens i n Preview Mode . Tap Options . 3. A menu wi ll appear. Tap Si mulation . 4. The route i s calculated and a simulati on of the route is seen and he ard.

84 No GPS Recept ion When GPS sign al is interrupted, the following messag e appears: GPS reception is cur rently not sufficient. Navigation starts autom atically as soon as GPS receptio n is OK again. When this message appears, you hav e the foll owing options: Wait for reception .
Options – Logbook The RightWay Navi gator can be used to record v ehicl e mileage for expen se reports or ta x purposes. Tap the Logbook but ton to: Record vehicle mileage.
82 General Informat ion About the Logbook The logbook is record ed in th e Logbook.xls file which can be open ed wi th a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet prog ram. Each reco rded trip i s added at the bottom o f th e spreadshe et as a new entry. When first used, th e Logbook.

82 Inserting & Rem oving a Memory Card (memory card not inclu ded) Inserting the Memory Card (SD card) To insert a memory card, gentl y press the card in to the card slot on the sid e of your RightWay Navig ator until it locks in place. Removing the Memory Card (SD card) To remove a memo ry card, swi tch the Righ tWay Navigator off.
Music Player The RightWay Navi gator all ows users to listen to music. Add musi c files such as .mp3 and .wma to a SD ca rd. Insert the SD card into the Ri ghtWay Navigator and open th e music menu. 1. After insertin g your memory card wi th the songs you whi ch to listen , tap the Music button.

Copy t ext files to an SD Card and i nsert the SD card in to the RightWay Navigat or and open th e E-B ook Reader. 1. After insertin g your memory card wi th the e-b ook you which to read, tap the E-book button.
