6 PREPARATION POWERING THE CB You can p ower your TRC-239 fro m any of thes e sourc es: • inter nal batteri es (not supp lied) • vehicl e battery po wer (using an optional adapter) • househ old .

USING BATTERIES Your TRC-23 9 can use 9 AA ba tteries (not s upplied) for powe r.
8 When t he TX/BA TT indicato r lights steadily or the TRC-2 39 stops o perating p roperly, rep lace the b at- teries. Warn in g: Dispose of old batterie s promptl y and properly . Do not burn or bury th em. Caution: If you do n ot plan to use the TRC-2 39 with internal bat teries for s eve ral mo nths , re mov e t he bat- teries.
9 4. Plug the charger' s other end into a stan dard AC outl et. It takes 14 –16 hour s to recharge Ni-M H batter- ies or 7–8 hours to recha rge Ni-Cd ba tteries th at are f ull y dis char g ed. 5. When the ba tteries are fully c harged, un plug the charg er from the AC outlet, then d isconne ct the charger from the CB.

11 Follow these ste ps to connec t the TRC-2 39 to your vehi c le’s bat ter y pow er. 1. Plug the po wer cord’ s Adaptapl ug into the TR C- 239’ s POWER jack . 2. Conne ct the other end of the po wer cord t o your vehicl e’s cigare tte lighte r socket.

Based on your des ired trans mitting range , set the pow er level as follows . • T o increase the transmitted signal streng th and the TRC-23 9's range, s et PWR HI/LO to HI . • T o decrease the transmitted sign al strength (to preve nt overloading a nea rby CB) and save batte ry power , set PWR HI/LO to LO .
