1 Horizon NavMate 5 NAVMATE 5 INTRODUCTION We hope that you en joy using yo ur new ADVUV630 navigation syste m. This manual is designed to help you get the most out of your system.

5 Horizon NavMate 5 BASIC OPERATION Head Unit Button Functions Accessing the Navigat ion Software Press the SRC button and select the NA V icon to access navigation mode. Selecting / Listening to a Source while Navigating While navigating, other source s may be selected and listened to such as AM- FM T une r , CD, etc.
6 Horizon NavMate 5 Using the Keyboard Keyboard Command Butt ons Look Ahead Feature Y our navigation system offers a convenien t interactive look-ahead search function to prevent misspe lling. Only keys that lead to a search result can be pressed – all othe rs ar e gr ey ed out.
7 Horizon NavMate 5 After enter ing the second character , only letters that can be used to spell an existing destination will be available for selection of the third character , the fourth character , and so on. NOTE: On the keyboard screen, the “SP ACE " button is loc ated in the bott om center of t he screen.
8 Horizon NavMate 5 NOTE: Some li sts keep tra ck of the five most recently used selections, which are placed at the top of the screen. This feature allows yo u to quickly select popular choices.
9 Horizon NavMate 5 Function Buttons T able 2: Common Command Buttons Press the map icon to view your current location on th e map or to return to map mode. Zoom in the map to show a smaller area. Zoom out the map to show a larger area. Press the return icon on any screen to return to the previous screen.
10 Horizon NavMate 5 Main Menu The main menu, titled “Select location” is your central point of access to all functions of your navigation system. It allows you to set your destination, manage your favorites an d control all settings of your device.
11 Horizon NavMate 5 Navigation Screen The map is the core component of your ADVUV63 0 navigation system. During navigation , it is cent er ed on yo ur current location by default, provided you have a GPS connection.
12 Horizon NavMate 5 On the left, additional info rmation, including the map scale and compass orientation (N, S, E, W) is displayed. • T o zoom in or out, press the + or – icons (Map Sc ale indicates zo om value). • T o return to the Main Menu, pr ess the button.
13 Horizon NavMate 5 Map Browsin g Screen T ouch (and hold) the screen to access Map Browsing Mode. Use a stylus or your finger to browse the map. Y our posit ion is identified as the cent er of the crosshair . • T o zoom in or out, press the + or – icons.
14 Horizon NavMate 5 2D/3D/Split Screen During navigation or map browsing , you can click the button to switch between 2D (default), 3D and S plit Scre en map view s. T rip Computer The T rip Computer provides information abou t your vehicle speed, trip related timing, elevation, odometer and clock.
15 Horizon NavMate 5 • Press the “i” icon to view deta iled readings for each field. • Press the Press the / buttons on the right side of the screen to navigate the list. • Use the / buttons to move through the list page by p age. • T ouch the marked item to select it.
16 Horizon NavMate 5 SELECTING A DESTINATION There are five dif feren t ways to find and choose a destina tion. Some methods allow you to select from a list using the arrow k eys, while others allow you to search using an on -screen keyboard.
17 Horizon NavMate 5 address or intersecti on in the previously selected state beginning with the City , S treet Name, or Postal Code. T o toggle bet ween City , S treet Name and Postal Code entry , press the / / button. 1. Begin entering the city by typin g the City , S treet Name or Postal Code.
18 Horizon NavMate 5 1. From the “Select location” menu, choose History . 2. A list of recent locations will appear on the screen. • Press the / buttons on the right side of th e screen t o navigate the list. • Use the / buttons to move through the list page by p age.
19 Horizon NavMate 5 Favorites Press the Favorites button to route to a destination by choosing an address saved in your Address Book, T rail Book, My POI or T rip Book lists. Coordinates Press the Coordinates button to route to a destin a tio n by dir ec tly en te rin g latitude and longitude values.
20 Horizon NavMate 5 2. T ouch any part of the ma p area to enter brow sing (panning) mod e and navigate the map. Use the +/– buttons to zoom in/out. 3. Press the button to view and select the addr ess nearest the crosshair , or press Quick POI to locate a POI in the visible map area.
21 Horizon NavMate 5 4. Select an address from the “Select” list to view the “S tart Route” screen, where you can begin navigation, save the addr ess for later , select a diff erent POI or modify routing criteria.
22 Horizon NavMate 5 If the home or office address is not al ready saved, a screen like the following will appear: Press the check mark to access the “Save location” screen. From he re you can enter your preferred home or of fice address and save it for future use.
23 Horizon NavMate 5 4. Press St art Route to begin navigating to the chosen Ad dress Book destination. Following a T rail The T rail Book feature allows you to create a pa th using map points when navigation data is not available. T o navigate to a saved T rail, perform the following steps: 1.
24 Horizon NavMate 5 4. Press the T rail you would like to follow and a list of trail point s will be displayed. 5. Press to choose any W aypoint as the stating point. 6. Choose Sta rt R ou te from the “S tart Route” screen. 7. The system will display a dotted line from your curren t location to the starting point.
25 Horizon NavMate 5 SELECTING A POINT OF INTEREST From the main me nu, press the Go T o... butt on and the n press the Point of Interest button. The “POI Search Cr iteria” window will be displayed: The previously selected S t ate or Province is automatically selected for the POI search.

Click an item on the list to sele ct that category OR press the button to a ccess the keyb oard and en ter a catego ry directly . Select POI City 1. Press the City button to enter the city in which you would like to find a point of interest.
27 Horizon NavMate 5 TO BEGIN NA VIG A TION: After entering the des ired POI search parameters, perform the follo wing steps to navigate to the chosen POI. 1. Press the button. 2. Press Sort by Dist a nce or Sor t by Name to retrieve a list of POI’ s within the parameters you entered.
28 Horizon NavMate 5 2. Press to select Hospital , Rest aurant , Parking Lot , Hotel , Gasoline Stat io n or AT M and display a list of POI’s in that category . • Press the / buttons on the right side of th e screen t o navigate the list. • Use the / buttons to move through the list page by p age.
29 Horizon NavMate 5 Add a New POI Category 1. T o access the My POI function, press the My POI butt on on th e “F av or - ites” menu. If no custom POI categories exist, th e system will dis play “No POI Found. Add?”. Press the green check mark button to go directly to the “Add Cate- gory” screen an d continue with S tep 4.
30 Horizon NavMate 5 3. Press the button to enter a name for the new Catego ry . • Press the button to clear th e default entry , if desired. • Use the keyb oard to ente r the name of your new Category . (See “Using the Keyboard” on page 66.) 4.
31 Horizon NavMate 5 • Scale : Choose the scales (zoom leve ls) at which the POI will be visible. 6. Press the green check mark to confirm and add your new POI Category to the directory .
32 Horizon NavMate 5 Add a Destination to a My POI Category 7. T o add a destination to a My POI Category , press the following sequence of menu buttons: Favorit es > My POI from the “Select location” menu. 8. Press Category to v iew custom POI categories.
33 Horizon NavMate 5 10. Press the category nam e to view POI de stinations st ored for tha t category . If no POI destinations are stored fo r the chosen category , the system will display “No POI Found.
34 Horizon NavMate 5 13. Af ter locating the address, the “ Select MyPOI parameters” screen appears. Use this screen to add additional info rmation about your POI: • Press the name/addr ess icon to edit the name of yo ur POI. • Press the cate gor y bo x to select a custom category for your new POI.
35 Horizon NavMate 5 NAVIGATING The powerful navigation capabilities of your ADVUV630 will guide you along the shortest or quickest route from A to B – with voice commands and in 3D (optional ). T o begin navigation, select a location beginning with the “Select location” main menu (see “Selectin g a Destination” on page 75).
36 Horizon NavMate 5 Intersection Zoom As you approach an intersection, the map will automa tically zoom in to show a close-up view of the roads ne ar the inte rsection point on the r ight side of the screen.
37 Horizon NavMate 5 Press the button to re turn to the map screen. Browsing the Map During Navigation Y ou can browse the map while navigati ng without inte rrupting the curren t route – you will st ill be guided through voice commands. • T o browse during naviga t ion, touch (a nd hold) the screen to activate the Map Browsing feature.
38 Horizon NavMate 5 2. Press Detour to view the “Detour” screen. 3. Choose a parameter for the Detour from t he on-screen list. 4. The NavMate software will recalculat e the route based on your chosen Detour information. Arriving at your Destination When you are near your destination, the destination is indicated by a checkered flag symbol.
39 Horizon NavMate 5 MANAGING FAVORITES The “Edit Favorites” menu allows you to save your home and work locations, as well as other frequent destin ation s for easy recall. After entering an address or se arching for a POI, yo u ca n choo se the Save option to bookmar k your selection, eliminating the need to per form repeated searches.
40 Horizon NavMate 5 2. Press the Address Book icon. 3. The “Add ress Book” s creen appe ars. • Press the / buttons on the right side of th e screen t o navigate the list. • Use the / buttons to move through the list page by p age. • Press the icon to rename the highlighted address bo ok entry .
41 Horizon NavMate 5 Edit Home/Office Address 1. On the “Select locatio n” menu, press the ( Home Address ) or ( Office A ddress ) icon to add or rep la c e th e ho m e or office address.
42 Horizon NavMate 5 If no trip exist, the system will displa y “There are no saved trips. Add?”. Press the gr een check ma rk button t o go directly to the “Enter Name of T rip” screen and continue with S tep 4. If trips exist, continue to step 2.
43 Horizon NavMate 5 5. The system will display “Trip is Em pty . Add?”. Press the green check mark button to access the “Save location” screen. 6. Refer to information in the section titled “Selecting a Destina tion” on page 75 to add a destination to your trip.
44 Horizon NavMate 5 Edit T rip 1. T o edit an e xisting Trail, choose Favorites > T rip Book from the “Select location” me n u. 2. Press the / buttons on the right side of the screen to select the trip name and view T rip Book destinations for that trip.
45 Horizon NavMate 5 • Press the icon to delete the highlighted destinatio n from your trip. • Press the icon to add an additional destination to your trip. Delete Trip 1. T o delete an exis ting trail. choose Favorites > T rail B ook from the “Select location” menu.
46 Horizon NavMate 5 recorded and sa ved, you can choose the named waypoints as future destinations. Add a New Trail 1. T o access the T rail Book function, press the T rail Book button on the “Favorites” menu. If no trails exist, the system will disp lay “There are no trails.
47 Horizon NavMate 5 3. After pressing the button to create a new trail, you will see the “Name Trail Book Entry” scree n, shown be low: 4. Use the keyboard to enter the name for yo ur Trail. ( See “Using the Keyboard” on p age 66.) 5. Press the button to save the T rail name and go to the “Setup Display” screen.
48 Horizon NavMate 5 7. Press Color to c hoose from ten colors fo r you r dotted line guidance. 8. Press the desired color to apply th at color and return to the “Setup Display” menu. 9. Press Scale to set the map scale display preference for this trail.
49 Horizon NavMate 5 13. Continue alo ng your desir ed trail path and the stop the vehicle at the first waypoint de stination. Press the button to add your curr ent position as a waypoint. The “Name W aypoint Entry” screen appears: 14. Use the keyboard to enter a name for your waypoint and then press to save and ret urn to the navigation ma p.

T o edit an e xisting Trail, choose Favorites > T rail Book from the “Select location” m enu. 2. Highlight the trail you wan t to edit. • Press the / buttons on the right side of th e screen t o navigate the list.
51 Horizon NavMate 5 Delete Trail 1. T o delete an exis ting trail. choose Favorites > T rail B ook from the “Select location” menu. 2. Highlight the trail you want to delete. • Press the / buttons on the right side of the screen to navigate the list.
52 Horizon NavMate 5 SETUP MENU When using the ADVUV630 for the firs t time, it is recomme nded that you customize the system parameter settings . For example, regarding navigation, you can choose to avoid or allow toll roads o r fe rries or change your map orientation .
53 Horizon NavMate 5 • Use Ferries : Use ferry travel when calculating routes. • Simulation : Enable simulation mode (perform simulated navigation when not traveling). • Auto Recalculation : Automatically recalculate t he route if a wrong tu rn is made.
