6 Features FCC INFORMA TION We have designed your system to conform to federal regula- tions, and you can connect it to most telephone lines. However, each system (and each device, such as a telephone or answer- ing machine) that you connect to the telephon e line draws pow- er from the telephone line.
7 Features This equipment compli es wi th the l imits for a Class B dig ital d e- vice as specified in Part 15 of FCC Rules . These limits provide reasonable protection against rad io and TV interference in a residential area. However, your equipmen t might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operatin g properly.
8 Preparation ˆ Preparation POWERING THE SYSTEM’ S T RANSMITTER Use the supplied 9V, 200-mA AC adapter to power the system’s transmitter. Cautions: Y ou must use a Class 2 power source that sup- plies 9V DC and delivers at least 200 mA. Its cen- ter tip must be set to positive a nd i ts plug must fit the transmitter's DC 9V jack.
9 Preparation POWERING THE SYSTEM’ S RECEIVER You can power the system’s receiver using four C batteries or an AC adapter (neither supplied). Installing Batteries The system’s receiver can use four C batteries (not supplied) for power.
10 Preparation Warning: Dispo se of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them. Caution: If you do not plan to u se the receiver with batte ries for a month, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destr oy ele c tr on ic parts.
11 Preparation CONNECTING THE SYSTEM The system’s transmitter connects to any modular phone jack and your phone. You can also conn ect it to an answering ma- chine. Note: To insure proper o peration, always connect the system’s transmitter directly to a wall jack.
12 Preparation 3. Plug a third line cord into the answering machine’s phone jack and the telephon e’s modular jack. 4. Set your answering machine to answ er after two or more rings. This gives the system time to record the call informa- tion that the phone company sends betwe en the first and second rings.
13 Preparation If the receiver is within th e range, it beeps and PAGED appears for 30 seconds. If PAGED does not appear , move the rece iver closer to th e transmitter and press PA G E ag ain.
14 Operation 5. Press SET to toggle between th e 12- and 24-hour formats, then press 9 9 9 9 DOWN . Setup is complete. When you first connect the receiver, the clock disp lays 12:00PM and the date 1/01 . When the first call comes in, the current time and date are automa tically set from the Caller ID information provided b y your phone comp any.
15 Operation To scroll through the call records, repeatedly press 9 9 9 9 DOWN to see the newer records. Repeatedly press 8 8 8 8 UP to see the old- er records. Notes: • If you do not press a button within about 10 seconds, th e system automatically returns to the time and date di splay .
16 Operation DELETING CALLS Deleting a Single Call Repeatedly press 9 9 9 9 DOWN or 8 8 8 8 UP until you see the cal l record you want to delete, then press DELETE . The receiver de- letes the selected ca ll record and re numbers the remainin g records.
17 Troubleshooting ˆ T roubleshooting If your system is not working as it should, these suggestio ns might help you eliminate the problem. If you see a messa ge that you do not understand, see “Displayed Call Informati on” on Page 15. Problem Solution Blank screen Install or replace the batteries.
18 Care and Maintenance ˆ Care and Maintenance To enjoy your Wireless Call er ID System for a long time: • Keep the system dry . If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately . • Use and store the system only in normal temperature envi- ronments. • Handle the system gently and carefully .
19 Care and Maintenance Also, the telephone company can make changes to its lines, equipment, operations, or procedures that could affect the oper- ation of this system. The teleph one company notifies you of these changes in advance so you can take the necessary steps to prevent interruption of your telephone service.
