8 PREPARATION INSTALLING THE BATTERIES AND SELECTING THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE Your Ca ller ID System 60 is powered b y four AAA batteri es (not suppl ied) . For the l onges t ope rat i on, we recommend al - kali ne bat teries ( such as RadioSha ck Cat. No.
9 Foll ow these steps to i nstall the ba tteries and sel ect the d is- play la nguag e: 1. If conn ected, dis connect the sys tem from th e telephone lin e. 2. T urn over the syst em so the bottom is faci ng up. 3. Using a Phi llips scr ewdriver , remov e the battery com- par tmen t’s safe ty locki ng screw .

15 OPERAT ION RECEIVING INCOMING CA LLS Calle r ID is a se rvice provided by your te l ep hone company . When Call er ID i s activat ed, the t elephon e company sen ds the cal ler’s t elepho ne number ( and name, if avail able) and the cal l’s date an d time between t he fir st an d second ri ngs.
16 Notes: • If you co nnect a telephon e answering machine to the sam e line as t he Caller ID Syste m 60, you must s et the answer ing machi ne to answer in t wo or more rings in order to rec eive the Call er I D inf ormation. • When the s ystem’s memor y is fu ll, i t aut omaticall y delet es the oldest call rec ord as a new call comes in.
17 REVIEWING CALLS Foll ow thes e steps to revi ew call inf ormation f or the Calle r ID recor ds (up to 10) yo ur Syst em 60 can store. 1. Pre ss REVI EW s o r t, or READ . The system di spl ays XX TOTAL (for ex ample, 02 TOTAL ) to show t he numbe r of sto red call r ecords, and t he NEW CALL indic ator stops f lashing.
