Thank you for purchasing this PENTAX u Digital Camera. Please read this manual before using the camera in order to get the most out of all the features and functions. Keep this manual safe, as it c an be a valuable tool in helping you to understand all the cam era capabilities.
1 We have pai d close at tention to the safe ty of this product. When us ing this product , we requ est your special attenti on regard ing items marked wi th the followin g sym bols. Warning • Do not disassemble or modify the camera. High voltage areas are present inside the camera, with the risk of electric shock.
2 Caution • Do not short the battery or dispose of the battery in fire. Do not disassemble the battery. The battery could explode or catch fire. • Remove the battery from the camera immediately if they become hot or begin to smoke. Be careful not to burn yourself during removal.
3 • Only use the battery charger D-BC50 supplied with the camera. Do not use the product at a voltage other than the specified voltage. Us e with a power source or voltage other than that designed can caus e a fire or electrical shock. The specified voltage is 100 - 240V AC.
4 • Do not clean the product with organic solvents such as thinner or alc ohol benzene. • Do not subject the camera to high temperatures or high humidi ty. Do not leave the camera in a vehicle, as the temperature can get very high. • Do not store the camera with preservatives and chemicals.

34 Getting Started 2 Attach ing th e Str ap 1 Pass the end of the strap through the strap lug, then secure it on the inside of the clasp. 2 Pass the other end of the strap through the other str ap lug on the camer a, then secure it on the insi de of the clasp.
35 Getting Started 2 Using the Battery Insert the b attery into the c amera. Use only a D-LI5 0 battery. When usi ng the ba ttery for the first tim e, or when th e batter y has no t been used in a long time, o r when [Ba ttery dep leted] appear s, rechar ge the battery.
36 Getting Started 2 When using the battery for t he fi rst ti me, charge the batt ery and insert i t int o the camera. 1 Open the battery cover. Lift the battery cover unlock lever, turn towards OPEN ( 1 ) to unl ock, and then pull the cover open ( 2 ).
37 Getting Started 2 2 Face the S mark on the battery t owards the monitor, push the battery l ock lever in t he direction of t he arrow ( 1 ) and insert t he battery. Insert until the battery locks. To remove the battery, push the battery lock lever in the direction of the arrow ( 1 ) with your hand.
