Used toner cartridge should be disposed of properly according to local regu lations. 4 Align the proje ctions on bo th sides of th e T oner Cartridge with the grooves in the machine as shown and insert the T oner Cartridge into the machine.
20 Loading the Recording Paper Paper Specifications In general, most bond papers will produce excellent result s. Most photocopy pape rs will also work very well. There are many "name" and "generic" br ands of paper available. W e recommend that you test variou s papers until you obt ain the desired result s.

Slide the paper wid th guide to the lef t until it lightly touches the stack of p aper without bending the p aper . The paper must fit squarely and fir mly between the Paper Width Guide and the right side of tray .
22 Adjusting the Paper Cassette for the Paper Length The factory default Paper L ength setting for the Paper Cassette is Letter size. T o change the pape r length to Letter or Legal size, follow the steps below . NOTE 1. If you forget to change the Recording Paper Size setting in Fax Parameter No.

24 Setting the Dialing Method (T one or Pulse) Y o ur machine can operate with either of two dialing meth ods (T one or Pulse), depend ing on the type of telephone line you are conne cted to. If you need to c hange the dialing method to T one or Pulse, follow the procedure below .
25 Inst alling Y our Machine Adjusting the V olume Y ou can adjust the monitor and ringe r volume on your machine. The bu ilt-in speaker enables you to hear the dial tone, dialing signals, and bu sy tone. The ringer sound s when your machine receives a call.
26 User Parameters Y our facsimile mac hine has several basic sett ings (User Para meters) to help you keep rec ords of the document s you send or receive. For example, the built - in clock keeps the curren t date and time, and your LOGO and ID Number help to identify you when you send or receive document s.
User Parameters 27 Inst alling Y our Machine When you send a document, your LOGO appears o n th e top of the copy printed out at the other st ation. The LOGO helps to identify yo u to someone who receives your document. Setting Y our LOGO 1 SET MODE (1-8) ENTER NO.

30 Programming Y our Machine One-T ouch/Abbreviated Dialing Numbers One-T ouch and Abbreviated Dialing are two fast ways of dialing full te lephone numbers. T o use these dialing methods, you must fir st store the te lephone number using the following proced ure.

Receiving Document s 72 This machine can use Letter , Legal or A4 size plain p a per for recordin g. Some times, oversized documents sent to you by other p arties cannot be printed on a single page. When this occurs, the document will be divided into separate p ages.
Receiving Document s 73 Basic Operations If the received document is extrem ely long (over 39% longer than the recording pape r), the document will be divided into separate p ages. When printing on separate pa ges, the bottom 10 mm (0.4”) of the first page will be overlapped on the top of th e next page.
Receiving Document s 74 If the record ing paper runs out or ja ms or if the toner runs out during reception , the machine automatically start s receiving document s in its image dat a memory . Store d documents are printed automatically after replacing the recording p aper or the toner cartridge.
75 Basic Operations Making Copies Y our machine has a copy function for single or multiple copies. NOTE 1. The copy will be reduced automatically depending on the len gth of the original document. If you wish to be prompted for the reduction ra tio when making copies, change the setting of F ax Parameter No.
76 Advanced Fe atures T imer Controlled Communications Y o u can send a document to one or multiple s tations at any pr eset time within the next 24 hours. Up to 10 built-in timers can be set for deferre d transmission and deferred polling. NOTE 1. If you entered a wrong numbe r in Step 4, press and then re-enter the right number.
T imer Controlled Communications 77 Advanced Features NOTE 1. If you entered a wrong number in S tep 3, press , and then re-enter the ri ght number . 2. T o change or cancel the Deferred Communi ca tion settings, see pages 89 and 90. Deferred Polling 1 DEFERRED COMM.
78 Polling Polling means calling other station(s) to retrieve a document. The other st ation must know in advance that you will call and must have a document set on the ADF or stored in th e memory . Y ou may need to set a polling password shared by the other st ation to ensure security .
Polling 79 Advanced Features In order to let other stations poll your machine, you must prepare your machine with a document stored in memory . Be sure to set the polling pa ssword before storing the document into memory . After being p olled, the documents stored in the memory will be delete automatically .
Polling 80 The following procedure lets you poll a document from o ne or multiple stations. Be sure to set the polling password before polling. (See page 78) NOTE 1. Y ou can review the entere d stations in step 5 by pressing or key , and then pressing to delete the displayed station or group as needed.
81 Advanced Features Program Keys Y our fax machine has special Program Keys. These keys are useful if you frequently need to send or poll the same grou p of stations. Y ou can use the se keys to store a One-T ouch group key , a sequence of stations to be polled, a deferred transmission or polling sequence, or an additional One-T ouch key .

87 Advanced Features Edit File Mode Y our machine has a document image memory which en ables you to reserve memor y transmission, memor y deferred transmi ssion, memory polling and so on. After reserving the comm unications in memory , you may need to change the settings of the communication(s) while it is still in memory .

Edit File Mode 93 Advanced Features If a memory communication ha s been unsuccessful d ue to a busy line or no answe r , the document you stored is auto matically delete from the memory after the last redial. If you need to ret ain the document even if the communica tion failed, change the setting of Fax Param eter No.
94 Access Code The Access Co de prevents an unautho rized user from operating th e machine. Once a 4-digit Access C ode is registered, no on e ca n op er at e th e ma ch ine with ou t en te rin g th e cor rec t acce ss cod e . Automatic Receiving, however , is always available.
Access Code 95 Advanced Features The machine can restrict the oper ation of setting/printing the Fax Parameters only . Ex: When setting the Fax Parameter . Operating Y our Machine with the Access Code (Restrict all operations) 1 Enter the A ccess Code.
96 Receive T o Memory This feature is used to secure all receive d documents by storing them into the memory . T o print out the document from memory , the authorized operator must en ter the correct passwor d. NOTE 1. When the memory overflows, the machine will stop receiving and release the line.
Receive T o Memory 97 Advanced Features After receiving a document with the Receive T o Memo ry feature, the following message will appe ar on the display . MESSAGE IN MEMORY < RCV TO MEMORY > T o print the document, fo llow the steps below . NOTE 1.
98 Possibility of filtering unnecessary incoming faxes This machine can filter incoming faxes to pr event receipt of unnece ssary docume nts (Junk fax, etc .). Before receiving the document, the sender ’s numeric ID (Fax number) will be compared to the numbers registered as junk fax numbers in the receiving stat ion.
Possibility of filtering unnecessary incoming faxes 99 Advanced Features Set the Junk Fax Filter to prevent receiving unnecess ary documents. When set to “V ALID”, the machine will not receive faxes from senders whose numeric ID has be en registered as junk fax number .
Possibility of filtering unnecessary incoming faxes 100 When set to “V ALID”, the machine will receive faxes from senders withou t numeric ID regis tered. When set to “INV ALID”, reception is denied in cases wh ere it is not possible to receive number IDs.
Possibility of filtering unnecessary incoming faxes 101 Advanced Features When set to “V ALID ”, th e se nder 's numeric ID and received time are printed at the bottom of the received faxes. If the sender's numeric ID is not re gistered, only the re ceived time is printed.
