20 CAMERA Mode Recording When the [A UTO] Indication 1 is display e d on the screen, the Movie Camera automatically adjust the f ocus and white balance. 21 ª Recording Y ou rself By opening the LCD Monitor and rotating it frontward (to the lens side), you can let the subject in front of the Movie Camer a monitor the shot while recording is in prog r ess. ≥ When the LCD Monitor is opened, the Vie wfinder is disabled automatically .
22 Photoshot This Movie Camera c an take approximately 7 seconds st ill pictures containing sound. 1 Press the [PHO TO SHO T] Button in th e Record ing P ause Mo de . ≥ The Movie Camera records a still picture f or about 7 seconds and then switches back to the Recording Pause Mode.
23 Zoom In/Out Functions It gives special eff ect s to the vid eo by recording objects close by or with wide-angle shot. 1 For wide-angle shot s (zoom out): Push the [W/T ] Zoom Lever to wards [W]. For close -ups (zoom in): Push the [W/T ] Zoom Lever to wards [T].
24 Image Stabili z er Function If the Movie Camera might be shaken while recording, the camera shake in the image c an be correct ed. ≥ If the Movie Camera shakes too much, this function ma y not be able to stabiliz e images. 1 Press the [SIS] B utton.

27 Recor ding in Natural Colours (White Balance) Depending on the scene or light condition, the Automatic White Balance Adjustment Mo de may not be able to br ing out natural colours. ( l 28, 59) In such a case, the whit e balance can be adjusted manually .
28 Outside of the effective range of A ut omatic White B alance Adjustment, the image will become reddish or bluish. Even within the eff ective r ange of Aut omatic White Balance Adjustment, the Automatic White Balanc e Adjustment may not function properly if there is more than one light source.
29 Manual Iri s Adjustment (F Number) Y ou can use this function when the screen is too bright or too dark. 1 Press the [A UTO/MANU AL] Button to disp lay th e [MNL] Indica tion. 2 Press the [PUSH] Dia l until the Iris Indication 1 appear s. 3 T urn the [PUSH] Dial to adjust the iris.
30 Digital Effect Functions This Movie Camera is equipped with Di gital Effect F unctions that add special effects to the scene. Digital Effe cts [EFFECT] 1) Mirror Mode [MIRROR] ≥ The r ight half of an i m age becomes a mirror image of the left half .
31 ª Wipe Mode and Mix Mode Wipe Mode : Like a cur tain is being pulled, the still picture of the last recorded scene gradually changes to the m oving image of a new scene. Mix Mode: While the moving image of a new scene fades in, the still image of the last recorded scene gradually fades out.
32 VCR Mode Pla ying Back The recorded scene can be pla yed back immediately after the recording. 1 Set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [VCR]. ≥ The [POWER] Lamp lights up . 1 2 Press the [ 6 ] Button to re wind the tape. ≥ Rewind the tape t o the point where y ou want to star t play back.

35 Index Sear ch Functions T o facilitate searching o f desired scene, this Movie Camera automatically records index signals during recording, as ex plained in the f ollowing. Photosh ot Index Signal These signals are automatically recorded whenever st ill pictures are taken in P hotoshot Mode.
36 Pla yback Digital Effect Functions During playbac k, special digital ef fects can be added t o t he recorded pictures. Digital Ef fects 1 [EFF ECT1] The same effects as those of Digital Eff ects (Mirror Mode, Strobe Mode, Mosaic Mode, Slim Mode, T railing Eff ect Mode, Stretch Mode), wh ich are used during recording, are obtained.
37 Pla ying Back on Y our TV By connecting your Movie Camer a with your TV , the recorded scenes can be viewed on your TV screen. ≥ Before connecting them, turn off the pow er of both the Movie Camera and TV . 1 Connect the [A/V OUT ] Socke t of the Movie Camera and the Vide o and Audio Inpu t Sockets of the TV .
38 Copying on a n S-VHS (or a VHS) Casset te (Dubbing) After connectin g the Movie Camera and the VCR as illustrated at left, start the following procedures. ≥ If your TV is not equipped with A V Input Socket s, the 21-pin Adaptor (purchase separately) is necessar y .
39 Using the D V Cable for Recor ding (Digit al Dubbing) By connect ing this Movie Camera with other digital video equipment that has a D V Input/Output T er minal using a D V Cable VW-CD1E (optional) 1 , d ubbing can be done in t he digital f ormat. ≥ Only the NV -DS65 can be used a s a Reco rder .
40 CARD Mode Using a Card A Card can be used to record still pi ctures. ≥ Use genuine car d only . ≥ When setting an M-CARD Mode, t he D V Output will not function. ª Inserting a C ard Before i nser ting a Card, be sure to turn off the Movie Camera.
41 Recording on a Car d Still pictures can be recorded on a Card fr om the Movie Camera lens as well as from scenes t hat hav e already been r ecorded on a cassette. ≥ Card Photosh ot cannot be used when a D V Cable is connected. ≥ Th e [PROG RES SIVE] i s set to [O N] .
42 Pla ying Bac k a Card It plays back images recorded on a Card. 1 Set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [M-CARD]. 2 Press the [M -PLA Y] Button. ≥ The still pictures recorded on the Car d are displayed in Multi-Picture Mode.

44 Deleting the P ictures Recor ded on a Car d Using the Movie Camera, you can delete the still pictures recorded on a Card. After t he picture is d eleted, it cannot b e restored. T o Select and De lete a Picture 1 Press the [M -DEL] Button in the card pla ybac k mode.
45 Writing Printing Data on a Car d (DPO F Setti ng) DPOF Setting Printing data (DPOF Settings), such as the number of images to be printed, can be written to the Card. “DPOF” means Digital Print Order Forma t. 1 Press the [M ENU] Button in the ca rd playba ck mode.

51 Picture-in-Pictu r e Mode ≥ If the Movie Camera is turned off , the smaller picture disappears. ≥ The position of a small picture is f ix ed at the bottom right of the screen.
52 ª Recording on a Car d ≥ Y ou cannot record still images from the tape to the Card when a USB Cables is connected. ≥ The sound cannot be recorded. ≥ The Shutter Effect cannot be used. ≥ Pictures w ith wide-scree n format signals canno t be copied.
53 Constructing a Folder when the Car d is used with a PC ≥ When a Card with data recorded on it is inser ted into a personal computer , folders wil l be display ed as in the figure. [100CDPFP]: The images (IMGA0001.JPG, etc.) in this folder are recorded in the JPEG format.
54 Do not use this Movie Camera for surveillance purpose or other b usiness use. ≥ If you use the M ovie Camera for a long period of time, the inter nal temperature increas es and, consequently , this m ay cause malfunction. ≥ This Movie Camera is not intended f or business use.
55 W atch for Condensation even before the Condensation Indication is displayed . ≥ Because conde nsation takes place gradually , the Condensation I ndication may not be display ed during the first 10 to 15 minutes of condensation formation inside the Movi e Camera.
56 Disposing of an Unusable B attery ≥ The Batter y has a limited lif e. ≥ Do not throw the Batter y into fire becaus e it may cause an e xplosion. Alwa ys Keep the T erm inals of the Battery Clean Prev ent the term inals from getting clogged wit h dir t, dust, or ot her substances.
57 ª LCD Monitor/Viewfinder /Le ns LCD Monitor ≥ In a place with drastic temper ature changes, condensation may f or m on the LCD Monitor . Wipe it with so ft dr y cloth. ≥ If your Movie Camera i s extremely cold when you turn its power on, the image on the LCD Monitor is slightly darker than usual at first.

59 Explanation of T erms ª Digital Video System In a digital v ideo system, image s and sound s are conv er ted into digital signals and recorded on a tape. This complete digital recording is capable of recording and pla yback with mi nimal image and sound deterioration.
60 ≥ The Time Code cannot be reset to z ero. ≥ Unless the Time Code is continuously recorded from the beginning of a tape, accurate editing may not be pos sible . T o ensure that the Time Code will be recorded with no breaks, we recommend the use of the Blank Search Function ( l 34) before recording a ne w scene.
