18 CAMERA Mode Recording When the [A UTO] Indication 1 is display ed on the screen, the Movie Camera automatically adjust the f ocus and white balance. In some cases, they cannot be adjusted automatically and ne ed to be adjusted manually . ( l 25, 27) 1 Set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [CAMERA].
19 ª Recording Y ourself By opening the LCD Monitor and rotating it frontward (to the lens side), you can let the subject in front of the Movie Camer a monitor the shot while recording is in prog r ess. ≥ When the LCD Monitor is opened, the Vie wfinder is disabled automatically .
20 Photoshot This Movie Camera c an take approximately 7 seconds st ill pictures containing sound. 1 Press the [PHO T O SHOT ] Button in the Rec ording P ause Mode. ≥ The Movie Camera records a still picture f or about 7 seconds and t hen switches back to the Recording Pause Mode.
21 Zoom In/Out Functions It gives special eff ect s to the video by recording object s close by or with wide-angle shot. 1 For wide-angle shot s (zoom out): Push the [W/T ] Zoom Le ver towar ds [W]. For close -ups (zoom in): Push the [W/T ] Zoom Le ver towar ds [T].
22 Image Stabili z er Function If the Movie Camera might be shaken whil e recording, the camera shake in the image c an be correct ed. ≥ If the Movie Camera shak es too much, this function may not be able to stabiliz e images. 1 Press the [SIS] B utton.

25 Recor ding in Natural Colours (White Balance) Depending on the scene or light condition, the Automatic White Balance Adjustment Mo de may not be able to bring out natural colours. ( l 26, 56) In such a case, the white balance can be adjusted manually .
26 Outside of the effective range of A ut omatic White Ba lance Adjustment, the image will become reddish or bluish. Even within the eff ective r ange of Aut omatic White Balance Adjustment, the Automatic White Balanc e Adjustment may not function properly if there is more than one light source.
27 Manual Iri s Adjustment (F Number) Y ou can use this function when the screen is too bright or too dark. 1 Press the [A UTO/MANU AL] Button to displa y the [MNL] Indica tion. 2 Press the [PUSH] Dia l until the Iris Indication 1 appear s. 3 T urn the [PUSH] D ial to adj ust the iris.
28 Digital Effect Functions This Movie Camera is equipped with Di gital Effect F unctions that add special effects to the scene. Digital Effe cts [EFFECT] 1) Mirror Mode [MIRROR] ≥ The right half of an image becomes a mirror image of the left half .
29 ª Wipe Mode and Mix Mode Wipe Mode : Like a cur tain is being pulled, the still picture of the last recorded scene gradually changes to the m oving image of a new scene. Mix Mode: While the moving image of a new scene fades in, the still image of the last recorded scene gradually fades out.
30 VCR Mode Pla ying Back The recorded scene can be pla yed back immediately after the recording. 1 Set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [VCR]. ≥ The [PO WER] Lamp lights up . 1 2 Press the [ 6 ] Button to re wind the tape. ≥ Rewind the t ape to the point where you w ant to start play back.
31 Finding a Scene Y ou W ant to Playback ª C ue /R evi ew Pl ayb ack If th e [ 5 ] Button 1 or [ 6 ] Button 2 is pressed during Play back, it turns to Cue Pla y back A or Re view Play back B . ≥ If the Button is held contin uously , it turns to Cue Playbac k or Revi ew Pla yback until you release i t .
32 Still Pla yback/Still Advance Pla yback This Movie Camera is capab le of still picture pla yback and frame-adv ance playback. 1 Press the [ 1 ] Button. 2 Press the [ ; ] Button. ≥ The pla yback image stops in the Still Pla yback Mode. 3 Press t he [ E ] Button or [ D ] Button on th e Remote Contr oller .
33 Index Sear ch Functions T o facili tate sea rching of desired scene, this Movie Camera automatically records index signals during recording, as ex plained in the f ollowing. Photosh ot Index Signal These signals are automatically recorded whenever st ill pictures are taken in P hotoshot Mode.
34 Pla ybac k Digital Effect Functions During playbac k, special digital ef fects can be added to the recorded pictures. Digital Ef fects 1 [EFF ECT1] The same effects as those of Digital Eff ects (Mirror Mode, Strobe Mode, Mosaic Mode, Slim Mode, T rai ling Eff ect Mode, Stretch Mode), wh ich are used during record ing, are obtained.
35 Pla ying Bac k on Y o ur TV By connecting your Movie Camer a with your T V , the recorded scenes can be viewed on your TV screen. ≥ Before connecting t hem, turn off the power of both the Movie Camera and TV . 1 Connect the [A/V O UT] Soc ket of the M o vie Camera and the Vide o and Audio Inpu t Sockets of the TV .
36 Copying on a n S-VHS (or a VHS) Casset te (Dubbing) After connectin g the Movie Camera and the VCR as illustrated at left, start the following procedures. ≥ Be s ure to pr ess the [OS D] Butto n ( l 8) on th e Remote Controller pr ior to copying so that no indications are visible.
37 Using the D V Cable for Recor ding (Digit al Dubbing ) By connect ing this Movie Camera with other digital video equipment that has a D V Input/Output T er minal using a D V Cable VW-CD1E (optional) 1 , d ubbing can be done in the digital f ormat. ≥ Only the NV -DS65 can be used a s a Recorder .
38 CARD Mode Using a Card A Card can be used to record still pi ctures. ≥ Use genuine card only . ≥ When setting an M-CARD Mode, the D V Output will not function. ª Inserting a C ard Before i nser ting a Card, be sure to turn off the Movie Camera.
39 Recording on a Car d Still pictures can be recorded on a Card fr om the Movie Camera lens as well as from scenes t hat hav e already been r ecorded on a cassette. ≥ Card Photoshot cannot be used when a D V Cable is connected. ≥ The [P ROGR ESSIVE ] is se t to [ON ].
40 Pla ying Bac k a Card It plays back images recorded on a Card. 1 Set the [VCR/OFF/CAMERA/M-CARD] Switch to [M-CARD]. 2 Press the [M -PLA Y] Button. ≥ The still pictures rec orded on the Card are display ed in Multi-Picture Mode.
41 Recording wi t h a Photo Title Card Images can be recorded as the Photo Title in CAMERA Mode. 1 Set [CAMERA FUNCTIONS] >> [PHO T O TITLE] >> [MODE] >> [WIPE] or [M IX]. 2 Set [CAMERA FUNCTIONS] >> [PHO T O TITLE] >> [TITLE] >> [SET].
42 Deleting the P ictures Recor ded on a Car d Using the Movie Camera, you can delete the still pictures recorded on a Card. After t he picture is d eleted, it cannot be restored. T o Select and Delete a Picture 1 Press the [M -DEL] Button in the card pla ybac k mode.
43 Writing Printing Data on a Car d (DPO F Setti ng) DPOF Setting Printing data (DPOF Settings), such as the number of images to be printed, can be written to the Card. “DPOF” means Digital Print Order Forma t. 1 Press the [M ENU] Button in the ca rd playba ck mode.

48 ª White Ba lance ≥ Y ou cannot change White Balance if y ou set [EFFECT] of [DIGIT AL EFFECT] Sub- Menu on the [CAMER A FUNC TIONS] M ain-Menu to [GAIN UP] and C olour Night View Function. ≥ Y ou cannot use the Manual White Balance Adjustment when the zoom magnification is approximately 10 k or higher .
49 ≥ Even if Play back Digital Zoom Functions are being used, images that are output fr om the D V T erminal ( l 7) or Digital Still P icture T erminal ( l 37) are not e nlarged. ≥ As you enlarge an image, the quality of im age suff ers . ª A udio Dubbing ≥ The blank section of a tape cannot be dub bed.
50 ≥ Using the optional D V Editing Software (Motion D V STUDI O) for Windows (VW -DT M20/21/22), variety of visual effects can be added and title can be creat ed. ≥ Y ou may not be able to proper ly play bac k or search the images on the Movie Camera aft er editing the recorded data or changing the image data on a personal computer.
51 Do not use this Movie Camera for surveillance purpose or other b usiness use. ≥ If you use the Movie Camera for a long per iod of time, the inter nal temperature increas es and, consequently , t his may cause malfunction. ≥ This Movie Camera is not intended for b usiness use.
52 W atch for Condensation even before the Condensation Indication is displayed . ≥ Because condensation takes place g radually , the Condensation I ndication may not be display ed dur ing the first 10 to 15 minutes of condensation formation inside the Movi e Camera.
53 ≥ Do not throw the Batter y into fire because it m ay cause an e xplosion. Alwa ys Keep the T erm inals of the Battery Clean Prev ent the term inals from getting clogged with dir t, dust, or ot her substances. If you drop the Battery accidentally , check t o see if the Battery body and ter minals are def orm ed.
54 Viewfinder ≥ Do not direct the Viewf inder or Lens to the sun. Internal com ponents may be seriously damaged. ≥ When the Movie Camera is used wi t h a large capacity Batter y (CGP-D28S/CGP-D32 0, CGR-D16S; opt ional) attached to it, it is not practical to look in the V iewfinder from behind the Battery .
55 Indicat ions 1: The Time Code becomes in accurate . 1: The Time Code Indication counter may not be constant in the rev erse direction in Slow Motion Playback Mode, but this is not a malfunction.
56 Compatibil ity with Output Si gnals Because A V signal output from the A V signal output sock et is analog (the same as conv entional video systems), this Movie Camera can be connected with S- VHS or VHS video or a TV for play back.
57 ª Memory Stop Function The Memor y S top Function is useful for the fol lowing operations.
