- 25 - Charging the battery The unit is in th e s t andby condition when th e AC adap tor is connected. The primary ci rcuit is always “live” as long as the AC adapt or is connec ted to an electr ical out let. Important: ≥ The AC adap t or and USB cable are for use with t his unit only .

- 32 - Inserting/removing an SD c ard Caution: Check that the status indicator has gone o f f. 1 Open the re ar door . When usi ng an SD c ar d not f rom Pan as onic, o r on e previo usly used on other equip ment, for the firs t time on th is unit, f ormat the SD card.
- 33 - 2 Insert (remove ) the SD card into (from) the card slot. 3 Close the rea r door . ≥ Face the lab el s ide A in the directi on shown in the illustrat io n and press it straight in as far as it will g o. ≥ Press the cen ter of t he SD card and the n pull it strai ght out.
- 34 - ≥ Do not touc h th e ter minals on the back of the SD card . ≥ Do not shock , ben d, o r drop the SD card. ≥ Electri cal noise, st atic electric ity or the f ailure of t his unit or the SD card may dama ge or erase t he dat a st ored o n the S D car d.
- 35 - Open the LCD monitor and p ress the p ower button to turn on the un it. The LCD monitor turns on. Prepar ation T urning the unit on/off T o turn off the unit Hold down the power but t on until the LCD monit or goes off . ≥ Pressing the power but ton for a sh ort time send s the unit into S tandby Mode.
- 36 - About St an dby Mode When the LCD moni t or is closed while t he unit is on, the un it enters S tandby Mode which cons ume s very lit tle power . S tandby Mode all ows pictures to be recorded as soon as the LCD monitor is opened . Se tting [QUICK ST ART] to [ON] will allow the device to switch to Recording S tandby S tat us even fa st er .
- 37 - About the high tempe rature warni ng icon If th e batte ry tempe rature or unit intern al t emperature (ex cluding b attery) rises, the high temper ature warni ng icon will provide warning as indicat ed below .
- 38 - Change the mode to recor ding or playback. Press the REC/ bu tton. ≥ Each pres s of the REC/ butt on changes the mode. Prepar ation Selecting a mo de Recording Mode ( l 44 , 47 , 51 ) For rec.

- 44 - ≥ Motion pic t ures are recorded to the SD card if one is inserted. If n o SD card is inserted , the motion pictures ar e recorded to the built-in memory . 1 Open the L CD monitor . 2 Press the recording st art/stop button to st art recording.

Dependi ng on the brig ht ness of the subject et c., th e ape rt ure an d shut ter speed are au tomati cally adjust ed for an optimu m bright ness.
