- 9 - ≥ Do not leave this unit for a long per iod of time in plac es where temperat ure is very low (at sk i resort s or at high altitu de etc.) or very high (above 35 o C), inside a ca r under strong s unlight, cl ose to a heater , on the beach, etc .
- 10 - 1 Open the re ar door . 2 Check th at there are no foreig n object s on the inner side of the rear do or . ≥ If there are any foreig n object s, such as lint, hair , sand, etc. , on the surrounding area, water will leak withi n a few seconds causing malfunction .
- 1 1 - ≥ Use the brus h end with the short (hard) bri stles to remov e larger foreign mat t er or damp s and from the un it. A Brush ( s uppli ed) ≥ Wipe it of f with a dry sof t cloth if th ere is any liquid. It may cause wat er leak s and malfunction if you use this unit with liquid adhered.
- 12 - 5 Close the rea r door secu rely . 1 Close the rea r door . 2 Slide th e open/clo se lever . 3 Lock the LOCK lever . ≥ Lock securel y to the points where the red port ion of the open /close lever a nd LOCK lever are no longer v isib le.
- 13 - ≥ Use this unit un derwater at a depth of down to 3 m with the water temperat ure between 0 o C and 35 o C. ≥ Do not use th is unit at a depth of over 3 m. ≥ Do not use it in hot water over 35 o C (in the bath o r hot s pring). ≥ Do not use this unit underwater not longer than 60 minutes continuously .
- 14 - 1 Rinse wi th water w ith the rear doo r closed. ≥ Afte r use at the seaside or underwat er , soak the unit in fresh wate r pooled in a shallow cont ainer for 10 minutes o r less. 2 Drain water by holding this unit up side down and shaking it l ightly a few times.
- 15 - 3 Wipe off water drop s on this unit with a dry soft c loth and dry this unit in a shaded area wh ich is well ventilated. ≥ Dry this un it by stan ding it on a dry clot h. ≥ Do not dry this un it with hot air fr om dryer or simila r . It will deteriorate the waterpr oof performa nce or cause failur e due to deformation.
- 16 - A Moisture he re ∫ About the wa ter draining des ign This unit is designed so that water that entered the ga ps around the zoom butt on etc. drains out. For this reason, bu bbles may appear whe n the unit is immersed in water , but this is not a malfunc tion.

- 27 - Charging the battery The unit is in th e s tand by condit ion when the AC adaptor is conn ected. The primary ci rcuit is always “live” as long as the AC adapt or is connec ted to an electr ical out let. Important: ≥ Be sure to use the supplied AC a daptor and USB c able.
- 28 - A S tatus i ndicator B AC adaptor C T o the AC o utlet ≥ Insert t he pl ugs as f ar as they will go. 1 Connect t he USB cable to the A C adaptor . ≥ Check that the plug portion of the AC adaptor is not loose or misaligned. 2 Plug the AC adaptor into the AC outlet.

- 32 - The unit can re c ord motion pic tures, s till pictur es or audio to an SD card or built-in memor y . T o record to an SD card, read t he following. Cards that you can use w ith this unit Use SD cards conforming to Class 4 or higher of the SD Speed Class Rating* for motion picture re cording.
- 33 - ≥ 4 GB or more Memor y Cards that do not ha ve the SDHC logo or 48 GB or more Memory Cards that do not have the SDXC logo ar e not based on SD Memo ry Card S pecifications. ≥ The operat ion of Memory card s exceeding 64 GB cannot be guaran teed.
- 34 - Inserting/removing an SD c a rd Caution: Check that the status indicator has gone o ff. 1 Open the re ar door . When usi ng an SD card not from Panasonic, or one previously used on other equip ment, for the firs t time on th is unit, f ormat the SD card.
- 35 - 2 Insert (remove ) the SD card into (from) the card slot. 3 Close the rea r door . ≥ Face the lab el side A in the directi on shown in the illustrat ion and press it straight in as far as it will g o. ≥ Press the centre of the SD ca rd and then pull it strai ght out.
- 36 - Caution: Check that the status indicator has gone o ff. 1 Open the b attery/car d cover . 2 Insert (remove ) the SD card into (from) the card slot. ≥ Face the labe l side B in the dire c tion shown in the illust ration and press it straight in as far as it will go.
- 37 - 3 Close the ba ttery/card cove r . ≥ Securely close it until it clicks. ≥ Do not touc h the terminals on the back of the SD card. ≥ Do not shock , bend, or drop t he SD card. ≥ Electri cal noise, st atic electricit y or the failure of this unit or the SD card may dama ge or erase the data st ored on the SD card.
- 38 - Open the LCD monitor and p ress the pow er button to turn on the un it. The LCD monitor turns on. About st andby mode When the LCD moni tor is close d while the unit is on, the un it enters standby mode wh ich consumes ve ry litt le power .
- 39 - ≥ The unit do es not go into stand by mode when you clos e the LCD monito r during motion pic ture recordin g or audio record ing. ≥ If you open th e LCD monitor when in standb y mode, the unit en ters recording mode. ≥ In the following cas es, openi ng the LCD mo nitor do es not turn on the unit.
- 40 - About the high temperature warning icon If th e batte ry tempe rature or unit intern al temperat ure ( excluding b attery) rises, the high temper ature warni ng icon will provide warning as indicat ed below .

- 44 - ∫ Basi c ca mera posi tion ing ≥ T o avoid dropping th e unit, be su re to att ach a handstra p. ≥ When record ing, make sure your f ooting is stab le and there is no danger o f collid ing with anothe r person o r object. ≥ When you are out doors, r ecord pictures with the sunlight be hind you.
- 45 - ∫ Reco rdi ng y our self Rot ate the LCD m onitor towards the lens side. ≥ The image is horizont ally flipped as if you see a mirr or image.
- 46 - ≥ Before turning on the unit, remove the lens cap. ≥ Motion pictures are recorded to the SD card if one is inserted. If no SD card is i nserted, the mot ion pictures are recorded to the built- i n memory . 1 Open the L CD monitor . 2 Press the recording st art/stop butto n to start recording.

- 51 - ∫ About the focusing ar ea ≥ When [FOCUS MO DE] ( l 88) is set to [9-P T AUTOFOCUS ], (focusing area A ) is displayed at t he position where f ocus is achieved. The unit au tomati cally determine s the positio n where focus is achiev ed from nine focus poin ts withi n the recordin g area.

- 57 - ∫ Intelligent Aut o Mode When switching to Int elligent Auto Mode , the Auto White Balance and Auto Focus operate and automat ically adju st the colour balanc e and focusing. Dependi ng on the brig htness of the subjec t etc., the apert ure and shutter speed are au tomati cally adjust ed for an optimu m brightness.

- 72 - ≥ If you ta k e your fin ger off the zoom leve r during zoom ope ration, the operation sound may be recor ded. When returnin g the zoom lev er to the orig inal positi on, move it quie tly . ≥ The unit will focus from approximate ly 1 m or more when the zoom magnification is at it s maximum.
