Introduction - 5 - 1 Introduction 1.1 About this Manual For better legibility and clarification, the following styles are used in this manual: Bold and italics : Registered names, company and product descriptions. S MALL CAPITALS : Window and dialogue box titles.
- 6 - Using the Navigation S ystem for the First Time 2 Using the Navigati on System for the First Time The navigation system is ready fo r use after it has been connected to the power supply. 1. Turn the device on. The L ANG UAG E windo w opens. 2. Tap on the language you would like to use.
Operating the Navigation System - 7 - Note: The map opens in Na vigation mode when you are currentl y navigating. 3.3 Opening the Menu Window Any window showing the map has a Menu button. ► Tap the Menu button. The M ENU window opens. Here you ma y access the complete functionality of the navigation device.
- 8 - Operating the Navigation S ystem The device is being supplied by an external power source. The batt ery is being charged. The device is being supplied by its internal battery. The battery charge is sufficient. The device is being supplied by its internal battery.
Operating the Navigation System - 9 - Special Keys enters a space character. deletes the character in front of the cursor. opens the numeric keypad. opens the letter keyboard. opens the special characters keyboard. As soon as you have entered a special character the letter keyboard reappears.
- 10 - Navigation 4 Navigation Impaired GPS Reception If GPS reception is impaired, navigation will be interrupted. The navigation software remains active. As soon as GPS reception is restored, the navigation system calculates any change of position which has occurred in the meantime.
Navigation - 11 - 3. Enter the name of the destination street. You can also enter the name of a well-known object, e.g. "Olympic stadium" or "Eiffel tower". 4. Enter the house number. If you don't know the ho use number, or if you specified an object in the preceding step, then leave the field empty.
- 12 - Navigation Note: The Direct Access section offers three categories of PO I from the current vicinity which can be sear ched for quickly and without additional entry. For more detailed information, please refer to chapter " Direct Access to POI" on page 14.
Navigation - 13 - The POI IN A C ITY window opens. 2. Enter the name or the postal code of the destination to wn. 3. Tap a category from which you would like to select a POI. If sub-categories exist for the category you have selected, the Sub Category list opens.
- 14 - Navigation 4.1.5 Direct Access to POI The Direct Access section cont ains three categories of POI. Destinations in your vicinity that correspond to one of these categories can be listed quickly, without the need for additional entry.
Navigation - 15 - Information: Information on ho w to save a destination can be found in chapter " Saving Destinations" on page 17. 1. In the M ENU window, tap on Destination > Favourit es . 2. Tap the destination to which you would like to navigate.
- 16 - Navigation Wait some seconds. The map opens in Preview mode. Information: For detailed information on how to start navigation, please refer to chapter " Starting Navigation", page 16. 4.4 Determining Destinations on the Map You may indicate a destination directly on the map.
Managing Destinations - 17 - Route Profile A so called route profile forms the basis of the route calculation. Tap the Route Profile button if you want to view or change the route profile. Note: If you change the route opt ions, these remain valid for subsequent navigation.
- 18 - M anaging Destinatio ns 4. Tap the Home Address button if you want to save the destination as your home address. The Yes value is now written in black and underlined. You can then always start navigati on to this destination very quickly by tapping Destination > Home in the M ENU window .
Managing Destinations - 19 - The Yes value is now written in black and underlined. 4. Tap the Save button. The previous window opens again. The selected favourite has now been saved as your home address. By default, its icon is a small house. Its name is now "My Address".
- 20 - Routes with Stages 3. Tap the Yes button. The F AVO UR ITE S list opens. The deleted des tination is no longer listed. 6 Routes with Stages It is possible to plan routes without GPS reception, in the comfort of your home for example. Planned routes can be saved for later use.
Routes with Stages - 21 - Changing the Star ting Point ► Tap the Specify Starting Point field. The S TARTING P OINT menu opens. You can now enter a differ ent starting point. Proceed as described above. 6.1.2 Entering Route Points Route points of a route are destinati ons that you want to navigate to .

Note: Only the start point and route points will be saved, not, however, the calculated route.
Routes with Stages - 23 - 6.3.3 Deleting Routes 2. Tap the route that you want to delete. 3. Tap Options > Delete . A dialog window prompts you to confirm deletion. 4. Tap the Yes button. The L OA D R OUTE list opens. The deleted route is no longer listed.

Options - 25 - Delete All: Deletes all destinations from the L AST D ESTIN ATIONS list. The list is then empty. A dialog window prompts you to confirm deletion. Delete Destination : Deletes the highlighted destination from the list ( L AST D ESTINATIONS or F AV OU RIT ES ).

- 28 - Working with the Map 4 You will see the total distance for the route in a small info box, together with the estimated trip time and the estimated time of arrival. Note: The data displayed depends on the settings you have configu red in the M ENU window under Settings > Basic Settings .
Working with the Map - 29 - 5 When two manoeuvres need to be executed in quick succession, the small arrow field indicates the second manoeuvre to be executed. 6 The large arrow field shows a schem atic depiction of the next junction which you should turn on to.
- 30 - Working with the Map Quitting Navigation 1. Tap the Menu button. The M ENU window opens. 2. Tap the Stop Navigation button to quit navigation. A dialog window prompts you to confirm. 3. Tap the Yes button. Functions of t he Map in Navigation Mode When the map is open in Navigation mode, tap an y point on the map.
Working with the Map - 31 - Zoom Out : The map section shown becomes larger, but you will see fewer details. Zoom In : The map section becomes smaller, but you will see more details. Zoom Mode : Wh en this button is active, you can plot a map section with your finger.

Useful Functions - 33 - 9 Useful Functions 9.1 GPS Status, Storing the Current Location In the GPS S TATU S window , you will find an ov erview of the data the navigation system retrieves from the received GPS signals. 1. In the M ENU window, tap on Information > GPS .
- 34 - Useful Functions ► In the M ENU window, tap on Information > Traffic . The T RA FFI C I NFORMATION window opens. Selecting the Type of Displa yed Messages Above the list, the Traffic reports button shows the type of traffic messaging listed and how many messages of this type are listed.
Changing the Navigation Sett ings - 35 - ► Hold frequency : Use the arrow keys of the station section to select another station. The system will not search for another station if reception becomes poor. Recalculate Route Tap on Recalculate Route to determine the effect ne w messages concerning your route hav e on route calculation.
- 36 - Changing the Navigation Sett ings 1. Tap the (List ) button. A list with all possible values opens. The value that is currently valid is marked. 2. Tap the desired value. 3. Tap the OK button. The list closes. The new value will be display ed. For each setting there is a (Help ) button.
