Safet y Re g ulations The printer C-650 Plus fulfill the safety regulations according to DIN EN 60950-1 for computer system s. The mains cable must be connected to a gr ound protected wall-sock et. The selected voltage of the printer needs to fit to the local voltage.

Preface About this Manual This manual covers the p rinte r in combination with an interfa ce module. The interface is an integral part of th e printer, and the type of interfac e used significantly influences the behaviour or o p eration of the p rinter.

2. Printer Operation 2.1 O p erator Panel The Operator Panel • controls the setup for communication with the hos t computer; • controls various parameter s ettings; • allows manual control of the paper ha ndling; • g ives information about the p rinter's status.
Printer O p eration 2.2 Function Ke y s The five function keys operate di fferently in the on line or off l ine mode. Please refer to the followin g table for details when p ressin g the function ke y s. If the Printer is powered on, the display shows in line two ON-LINE and the green LED (2) li g hts.

Printer O p eration 2.3 Li q uid C r y stal Dis p la y ( LCD ) The LCD indicator gives information about the s tatus of the printer. In general it c an be distin g uished between: • ONLINE messages • OFFLINE messages • Menu Information The LCD has two lines with 20 characters per lin e.
Printer O p eration 2.4 Load Print Medium The Printer can deal with single sheet, cheque, multi copy carbon paper and c arton. The printer will start inserting the sheet automatica lly when the operator puts the print medium into paper feeding path. Us ers needn’t bother aligning the print medium with the lef t or ri g ht border of the p rinter.
2.5.1 To Confirm a Macro Selection and Save the Settings • Press [STOP ] key; the confirmed value will now be shown in the head line. MENU SETUP SELECT CURRENT MACRO • Press [STOP ] key again. Confi g urin g the Printe r 3.6 ADJUSTMENT Adjustment can be used to adjust and c heck some built-in parameters of the printer. It may enhance the print performanc e. Sometimes, it’s possible to improv e the rationality of the page layout according to the prac tical environment.

Confi g urin g the Printe r 3.6.8 RESUME HARDWARE PARAMETERS All standard default settings of the firmware will be restored. The contents of the page counter will not be chan g ed, but all other settin g s are reset.
Confi g urin g the Printe r 3.7.1 DATA BACKUP MODE The Data Backup Mode is using the buffer of the printer. All r eceiving data from the host are saved first. To get data print ed select after saving the data the function Printing Saved Data (see paragraph 3.

Confi g urin g the Printe r 3.8 INFO INQUIRING You get information of the current set ting parameters of software or hardware. This information is im p ortant for the s y stem en g ineer and service s taff. You can select the following parameters : • FW VERSION • HW CONFIGURATION • PRINTER ID 3.
4. Maintenance Preferred Material The following materials and cleaning lubric ants are recommended when maintaining the printer: • Lint-free soft cloth • Light vacuum cleaner. 4.1 Cleanin g Surroundin g Areas The user should clean the printer ev ery six months.
Maintenance 4.1.1 R emove the Ribbon • Power the printer on. • Open the top cover; the print head (2 ) is moving to the centre. • Step 1: swivel the green print unit lift handle (1) backwards to lift the print unit entirely . • Step 2: loosen the green ribbon gui de (3) by pressi ng downwards.
Maintenance 4.1.2 R emove the Alignment Unit • Power the printer off • Open the Top Cover • Swivel the green print unit lift h andle (see the phot o on the page before) bac kwards to lift the print unit entirely. • Press both Levers (2) to t he outside of the printer • Swivel the Alignment Unit up to about 45° .
Maintenance 4.1.3 Cleanin g Procedure • Thoroughly brush and vacuum all ac cessible areas to any paper floc k and dust. • Clean the black platen’s s urface, the transport roll ers. • Clean also the rollers on the lower si de of the Alignment Unit.

7. Interface Description 7.1 Serial Interface Standard C-650 Plus has one asynchronous V24 RS232C serial interface with 9 cores connected to the hos t.
Interface Desc r i p tion 7.2 Parallel Interface The C-650 Plus parallel interface accord ing to IEEE 1284-1994 standard, support SPP, nibble, byte protocol.
8. Firmware Update Output Solutions will advise users to update the printer’s firmware irregularly to strengthen C-650 Plus’ functions and will offer the necessary firmware file to users (usually the firmware file is named flash.mot ). To update C-650 Plus’ firmware please follow the s teps below: • Copy the firmware file flash.
Firmware U p date • Now the downloadin g p rocess will be g in. UPDATE BUSY • During the downloading process C-650 Plus’ LCD will display how many bytes the p rinter has received. PROGRAMMING 13BB0 • The whole downloading process will last about three minutes.
9. Troubleshootin g How to Use This Section There are some examples which will help you to solve the prin ter troubles that may occur durin g use. Warnin g : If there are mechanical or electrical troubles, don ’t repair by yourse lf. Ask your s ervice centre for help.
T r oubleshooti n g 9.3 R ibbon or Carria g e-related Problems • Ribbon Problems • Make sure that the ribbon is: • Stretched correctly; • Not worn thin or dry; • Not torn or damaged in any other way; • Not jammed • If the ribbon box is damaged, replace it with a new one.
T r oubleshooti n g 9.5 Print-related Pr oblems N o te: The C-650 Plus printer has the func tion of overheating protection. If overheating protection will be active t he printer may slow down printi ng speed or even stop printing after a long time printing (unti l printhead’s temperature returns normal).
