Page 4 DESCRIPTION DPS3000 Series instrum ents are m ulti-channel s canners th at pack a number of functions in to one unit. Tasks that require mu ltiple monitors can n ow be accom plished by usin g only a single un it.
Page 5 DISPLAYING PARAMETERS DPS3000 Series k eeps track of v arious paramet ers and these m ay be dis play ed by push ing appropriate k eys on the fron t panel.
Page 6 setpoint, dif ference betw een any two selected chann els or just run as a tim er. In the timer m ode the unit keeps track of process run time with crystal controlled accuracy . Elapsed Time display format is 'HH.MM.SS' for hour s, minutes, a nd seco nd s.
Page 7 Display tim e for each chann el is programm able from 1- 999 seconds (16.65 m in.). This is usef ul for adjusting dis play tim e to a rate w hich is con sistent with the type of process being m onitored. Scan time for each channel is independent of display tim e.
Page 8 a) The first one is a mom entary display in w hich the deviation is indicated for a short tim e. Fo llo win g this brief display tim e, the unit reverts to its normal m ode o f op eratio n (scannin g, differential, timer etc.). To achieve this, f irst select th e channel w hose setpoin t deviation is des ired.
Page 9 Once the correct pass -code has been entered, th e display s hows 'SYS CH' , w ith 'CH' blinki ng. At this p oint t he ope rato r may choose b etween making channe l settings ( C H ) , or system settings (SY S ) . Use ^v key to togg le between CH and SYS m odes.
Page 10 CHANNEL CONFIGURATION After en tering correct pass-code and s electing the blinkin g 'CH' (ref. SETUP section), the display show s 'SLCt CH' (for "Select Channel"). Use ^v key to display the desired channel. Selected chan nel will be displayed in the form at 'CHANEL x' (wh ere x=channel #).

Page 12 SETPOINT value. Once the desired SETPOINT value is displayed, push SETUP key to enter that value and go on to setup ch annel 1's operational m ode. Setup for Unive rsal Relay (Channel 1 Relay) Chann el 1 relay can be conf igured to work as a universal relay or as Channel 1 relay only .
Page 13 Setup For Engineering Units After settin g a channel's relay for NORMALLY OPEN/CLOSED operation, the nex t parameter to be set are the 3 letters that follow the pr o cess value in th e display. These 3 letters represent the measurem ent units for that particular chan nel.
Page 14 Example #2: Use of the LOW SCALE Param eter Setup f or a 4-20ma tran sducer si gnal correspondin g to 500-2000 degrees F ahrenheit tem perature i.e. 500 degrees at 4ma and 2000 degrees at 20m a (one degree res o lution): DECIMA L POINT = 9999 HIGH SCAL E = 2000 LOW SCA LE = 500 OFFSET = 4.
Page 15 Setup For Relay Latch/Non-Latch After settin g DISP LAY TIME, the next parameter determ ines wheth er the output relays w ill operate in a Latched or Non- Latch ed mode. Relay Latched Mode: In this m ode the relay is activ ated when its L IMIT value is exceeded an d stays activated until the operator m anually resets the relay.
Page 16 desired va lue is display ed, push SETUP key to enter that value and go to the nex t step. Voltage Range Setup (for millivolt inputs) For Millivolt input units, the display f irst shows 'HV rnGE ' (for " Hi gh V olta ge Range " ).
Page 17 PEAKS A very useful fun ction of DPS3000 is tracking th e highest (peak ) and the low est (valley ) point attained by each ch annel. This is particularly helpful if an ope ratio n is not being constantly w atched or is left u nattended (e.g. overnig ht).
