Basics 8 SIM or USIM card Installing the SIM or USIM card Inser t the SIM or USIM card provided b y the mobile telephone ser vice provider . • Only nano-SIM cards work with the device . • Some L TE services may not be available depending on the service provider .
Basics 9 2 Pull out the SIM car d tray gently from the SIM car d tray slot. 3 Place the SIM or USIM car d on the SIM card tra y with the gold- coloured contacts facing down wards . Use caution not to lose or let others use the SIM or USIM car d. Samsung is not responsible f or any damages or inconv eniences caused by lost or stolen cards .
Basics 10 Bat ter y Charg ing the batter y Charge the batt er y befor e using it for the first time or when it has been unused f or ex tended periods. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers , batteries, and cables. Unappr oved chargers or cables can cause the battery to explode or damage the device.
Basics 11 3 After fully charging , disconnect the device from the charger . First unplug the char ger from the device , and then unplug it from the electr ic socket.
Basics 12 Batter y charg ing tips and precautions • When the battery power is low , the ba tter y icon appears empty . • If the batter y is completely dischar ged, the device cannot be turned on immediat ely when the charger is connected. A llow a depleted batt er y to char ge for a f ew minutes befor e tur ning on the device .
Basics 13 F ast charging The device has a built -in fast charging f eature. Y ou can use this featur e to charge the batt er y more quickly while the device or its screen is turned off . About F ast charging • F ast charg ing uses battery charging technology that charges the ba tter y faster by increasing the char ging pow er .
Basics 14 W ireless charg ing The device has a built -in wireless charg ing coil. Y ou can charge the battery using a wireless charger (sold separat ely). 1 Place the cen tre of the device ’ s back on the centr e of the wireless charger . Y ou can check the remaining char ging time on the screen.
Basics 15 Ultra po wer sa ving mode Use this mode to extend the device ’ s battery power . I n ultra pow er saving mode , the device per forms the follo wing: • Displays c olours on the screen as gr ey tones. • Restric ts the available apps t o essential and selected apps only .
Basics 16 T ouchscreen • Do not allow the touchscr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touchscr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touchscr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 17 T apping and holding T ap and hold an item or the screen f or more than 2 seconds to access a vailable options. Dragging T o move an it em, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position. Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in.
Basics 18 Swiping Swipe to the left or right on the Home screen or the Apps scr een to view other panels. Swipe upwar ds or down wards t o scroll thr ough a webpage or a list of items , such as contac ts. Spreading and pinching Spread two fingers apart on a webpage, map , or image to zoom in a part.
Basics 19 Home screen Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. It displays widgets, shortcuts to apps, and mor e. T o view other panels, swipe to the left or right, or tap one of the scr een indicators at the bottom of the screen.
Basics 20 Home screen options On the Home screen, tap and hold an empty area, or pinch y our fingers together to ac cess the available options . Customise the Home screen b y adding, deleting , or rearranging Home screen panels . Y ou can also set the Home screen wallpaper , add widgets to the Home screen, and more .
Basics 21 F lipboard Briefing View the la test ar ticles in various categories . Y ou can get up to date on news tha t inter ests you using this f eature. On the Home screen, tap or swipe to the right to open F lipboard Briefing. S wipe upwar ds or down wards t o brow se ar ticles in each news category .
Basics 22 Crea ting folders 1 On the Home screen, tap and hold an app , and then drag it over another app . 2 Drop the app when a f older frame appears around the apps. A new folder c ontaining the selected apps will be created . 3 T ap Enter f older name and enter a f older name.
Basics 23 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap Apps to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, swipe to the left or right, or selec t a screen indicat or at the bottom of the screen.
Basics 24 4 T ap Enter f older name and enter a f older name. T o change the folder c olour , tap . T o add more apps to the f older , tap and hold another app , and then drag it to the folder . Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen.

Basics 33 Multi window Introduction Multi window lets you run two apps a t the same time in the split screen view . Y ou can also run multiple apps at the same time in the pop-up view .
Basics 34 Split screen view 1 T ap to open the list of rec ently used apps. 2 Swipe upw ards or down wards and tap on a recen t app window . The selected app will launch in the upper window . 3 Selec t another app to launch. Y ou can also launch the split screen view by tapping and holding .

Basics 38 Devic e and data management T ransf erring data from y our previous devic e Y ou can transfer data from a pr evious device to your new device via Samsung Smart Switch. The f ollowing versions of Samsung Smart Switch are a vailable. • Mobile version (Smar t Swit ch Mobile): T ransfer da ta between mobile devices .
Basics 39 5 On your pr evious device, select data to send t o your new device and tap SEND . 6 On your new device , tap RECEIVE on the connection request pop-up window to receiv e the data. The data transf er will begin. 7 On both devices, tap FINISH when the data transf er is complete.
Basics 40 Using the de vice as a r emovable disk f or data tr ansfer Move audio , video , image, or other types of files from the devic e to the computer , or vice versa. Do not disconnect the USB cable from the device when you ar e transferring files.
Basics 41 Updating with Smar t S witch Connect the device to a comput er and update the device to the latest software . 1 On the computer , visit w ww .samsung.com/smartswitch to download and install Smart Switch. 2 On the computer , launch Smar t Switch.
Basics 42 Using a Google acc ount On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Backup and reset , and then tap the Back up my da ta switch to activate it. T ap Backup accoun t and select an account as the backup account . T o restor e data using a Google account, tap the Aut omatic rest ore switch to activate it.

Applications 47 Managing apps Uninstalling or disabling apps On the Apps screen, tap EDIT . The icon appears on the apps that y ou can disable or uninstall. Select an app and tap DISABLE or UNINST ALL . Alternativ ely , on the Apps screen, tap Settings → Applications → Application manager , select an app, and then tap DISABLE or UNINST ALL .

Applications 61 Separating the e xposure ar ea and the focus area If bright light affects the contrast or the subject is outside the auto focus ar ea, use this feature to achieve an appr opriate exposure . Y ou can separate the exposure and f ocus areas and select the exposure lev el you want for the subject.
Applications 62 Selec tive f ocus Use the out-of-focus eff ect to make specific objec ts stand out in a photo . 1 On the preview scr een, tap MODE → Selec tive f ocus . 2 T ap the image on the preview screen wher e the camera should focus. 3 T ap to take a photo .
Applications 63 P anorama T ake a series of photos horizontally or vertically and then stitch them together to crea te a wide scene . On the preview scr een, tap MODE → P anorama . T o get the best shots using panorama mode, f ollow these tips: • Move the camera slo wly in one direc tion.
Applications 64 Editing slow motion sections 1 On the preview scr een, tap the preview thumbnail . 2 T ap . The video will start playing with a randomly set slow motion section. 3 T ap to pause playback. 4 Drag the star t bracket and the end bracket t o the desired point t o trim segments of a video .
Applications 65 F ast motion Record a video f or viewing it in fast motion. Y ou can specify sections of your videos to be play ed in fast motion. The f ocal length may become shorter when using this mode. 1 On the preview scr een, tap MODE → F ast motion .
Applications 66 5 Drag to select the area of the video to be pla yed in fast motion. T o set a fast motion section more precisely , tap and hold , and then drag your finger t o the left or right to move thr ough the sec tion frame by frame .

If your device has paired with the devic e before , tap the device name without confirming the auto- generated passkey .
