20 Description A TTENTION When a telephone or tr unk in the main office calls an SRG IP Phone that has switched to Local Mode due to W AN failure, the call is treated according to the main office call redirection configuration (such as forw arding to voice mail or continuous ringback).
Normal Mode and Local Mode ov er view 21 While in Local Mode, the SRG 50 system continues to monitor for a main office CS 1000 hear tbeat signal, and once detected, automatically redirects phones on an individual basis back to Normal Mode of operation.
22 Description If the main office Signaling Ser ver f ails and an Alter nate Signaling Ser v er is av ailable , the SRG IP Phones reset and reregister with the SRG.
Normal Mode and Local Mode ov er view 23 T esting the phone in Local Mode F rom Nor mal Mode, the br anch user has the option of going to Local Mode manually using the T est Local Mode f eature, or when the telephone is power-cycled. The test can be perf or med by the user at any time and does not require a passw ord.

Bandwidth Management Overview 25 The time zone of the SRG is configured with the SRG z one at the main office. The time zone adjusts the main office time f or display at the SRG. SRG phones then displa y the correct time of the SRG, rather than that of the main office.
26 Description CA UTION Service Interruption If the netw or k is planned so that IP Phones use a different route to the main office than that used b y the SRG, a fault condition can occur .
Branch office dialing plan 27 Branch office dialing plan Since IP Phone users can be located at a branch office equipped with an SRG, the routing of calls to the local gate wa y is impor tant (especially when toll charges apply to calls made from the central Call Ser ver that controls the telephone).

Codec negotiation 97 SRG 50 does not suppor t G.723 codec. A TTENTION If the payload siz es are set higher than the default v alues (for example , to suppor t a third-par ty gatew ay), then the local IP calls are affected b y higher latency . This is because the codec configuration applies to both IP P eer calls and local IP (IP Line) calls.
98 Bandwidth Management call is not known until both call endpoints hav e negotiated which codec to use. The bandwidth used for calculating the usage of a Vir tual T r unk call is determined by the pref erred codec of the de vice that connects to the Vir tual T r unk.
