1. Get started Insert SIM card and battery Safe removal. Always switch th e device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. 1. Remove the back cover by li fting it from the bottom end of the device. 2. Lift the cover off. 3. To remove the battery, lift it from the end.

● Automatic redial — Set your device to make a maximum of 10 attempts to connect the call after an unsuccess ful call attempt. To stop automatic redialling, press the end key. ● Show call duration — Display the length of a call during the call.
● International calls except to h ome country — Prevent calls to foreign countries or re gions, but allow calls to your home country. To check the status of voice call barrings, select the barring option and Option s > Check stat us . To deactivate all voice call ba rrings, select a barring option and Options > Deactivate all barrings .
To share a video clip , select Video clip and the clip you want to share. You may need to convert the video clip into a suitable format to be able to share it. If your device notifies you that the video c lip must be converted, select OK . Your device must have a video ed itor for the conversion t o work.
To search for available wire less LAN (WLA N) connections, select Options > Search for WLAN . Make internet calls When you have activated the in ternet call feature, you can make an internet call from all applications where you can make a regular voice call, such as the co nt act s lis t or lo g.
5. Media Warning: When you use the headset, your abilit y to hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use the hea dset where it can endanger your safety. Music player Select > Applications > Music player . With Music player, you can play mu sic files, and create and listen to playlists.
RealPl ayer With RealPlayer, you can play video clips or stream media files over the air without sa ving them to the device first. RealPlayer does not necessarily support all file forma ts or all the variations of file formats. Select > Applications > RealPlayer .
6. Positioning About GPS The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using the international WGS-84 coordinate s ystem. The availability of the coordinates may vary by region. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by the government of the United States, which is solely responsible for its accuracy and maintenanc e.
Maps Select > Maps , or press the navigator key. With Maps, you can see you r current location on the map, browse maps of different cities and countries, and sear ch for addresses and p laces of interest. You can also plan rout es, and get car and pedestrian navi gation guidance.

To enter the position information manually, select Enter manually . ● Edit — Edit or add information to a saved landmark (for example, a street address). ● Add to category — Add a landmark to a category in Landmarks. Select each catego ry to which you w ant to add the landmark.
7. Write text Traditional text input indicates traditional text i nput. and indicate the uppercase and lowercase. indicates the sentence case, that is, the first letter of the sentence is written in up percase and all the other letters are automatically written in lowercase.
If you are writing text using a non-Latin alphabet and w ant to write Latin characters, fo r example e-mail or web addresses, you may need to ch ange the writing la nguage. To change the writing lan guage, select Option s > Input options > Writing language , and a writ ing language tha t uses Latin ch aracters.
8. Messaging Only devices that have compat ible features can receive and display multimedia m essages. The ap pearance of a message may vary depending on the receivi ng device. Messaging main view Select > Messaging (network service). To create a new message, select New message .

Message reader With Message reader yo u can li sten to tex t, multimedia , and audio messages and e-mail. To listen to new messages or e-mail, in the home screen, press and hold the left selection key until Message reader starts.

● Title dividers — Select On to be able to expand and collapse the list of e-mail messages. ● Downloa d notific ations — Select whether to have the device to display a n otification when an e-ma il attachm ent has been downloaded. ● Home screen — Define how many line s of e-mail are shown in the home screen information area.

9. Contacts About Contacts Select > Contacts . With Contacts, you ca n save and update contact information, such as phone numbers, ho me addresses, and e-mail addresses of your contact s. Yo u can add a personal ringing tone or a thumbnail image to a conta ct.
If you want to make conference calls t o the group using a conference service, define the following: ● Conf. se rvice nu mber — Enter the conference call service number. ● Conf. servi ce ID — Enter the conference call ID. ● Conf. servi ce PIN — Enter the conference call PIN code.
To change the setting s of the Contacts application, select Options > Settings > Contacts and from the following: ● Contacts to display — Select the memories from where contacts are displayed. ● Default saving memory — Select the default memory to save contacts.
10. Calendar About Calendar Select > Calendar . With calendar, you can create and view schedu led events and appointments, and switch betwee n different calendar views. In the month view, calendar entries are marked with a triangle. Anniversary entries are also marked with an exclamation mark.
2. Enter the names of the re qu ired participants. To add names from your contacts list , enter the firs t few characters, and select from the proposed matches. To add optional participants, select Optio ns > Add participants . 3. Enter the subject .

11. Photos About Photos Select > Gallery > Images & video s and from the following: ● Captured — View all the images and video clips you have captured. ● Months — View images and video clips categorised by the month they were captured.
12. Camera Keep a safe distance when usin g the flash. Do not use the flash on people or animals at close range. Do not cover the flash while taking a picture.
2. Press the capture key. The pa norama preview is displayed. 3. Turn slowly to the right or left. You cannot change direction. If the arrow on the display is red, you are turnin g too quic kly. 4. To stop capturing the panorama image, press the capture key.
13. Internet Web browser With the Web browser application, you can view hypertext markup langua ge (HTML) we b pages on the internet as originally designed. You can also browse web pages that are designed specifically for mobi le devices, and use extensible hypertext markup language (XHT ML), or the wireless markup language (WML).
From the toolbar, sele ct from the following: ● Go to web add ress — Enter a web address. ● Recently visited pages — View a list of the web addresses you visit frequently. ● Bookmarks — Open the bookmar ks view. ● Full screen — View the web page in full screen.
Empty th e cache The information or services you have accessed are stored in the cache memory of the device. A cache is a memory location tha t is used to store data temporarily. If you have tried to access or have accessed confidential information re quiring passwords, empty the cache after each use.
● History list — If y ou select On , while browsing, to see a list of the pages you have visited during the current session, select Back . ● Security warnings — Hide or show security notifications. ● Java/ECMA s cript — Enable or disable the use of scrip ts.
To subscribe to an online shar ing service, go to the service provider's website, and check that your Nokia device is compatible with the service. Create an ac count as instructed on the website. You receiv e a user name and password needed to set up your device with the accou nt.
The content of some video servic es is divided into categories. To browse video clips, select a category. To search for a video clip in the service, select Video search . Search may not be available in all services. Some video clips can be streamed over the air, but others must be first downloaded to your device.
Ovi Music With Ovi Music (network servic e), yo u can sear ch, brows e, and download music to your device. The Ovi Music service will even tually replace the Music store. Select > Applications > Ovi Music . To download music, you first need to register for the service.
14. Ovi services Nokia Ovi Suite offers a new, more user-friendly approach to Nokia PC software. The PC a pplication gives you an easy access to the files on your computer, your Nokia device, and Ovi all within a single win dow. About Ovi Ovi contains services provided by Nokia.
With Ovi Files, you can us e your device to access files on your computer. Install the Ovi Files application on every computer you want to access with Ovi Files. You can carry out the following tasks: ● Search and view images an d documents stored on your computer.
15. Personalisation Change the d isplay theme Select > Settings > Themes . Select from the following: ● General — Change the theme us ed in all applications. ● Menu view — Change the theme us ed in the main menu. ● Standby — Change the theme used in the home screen.
Sensor settings Mute calls or snooze alar ms by turning the phone. Select > Settings > Settings and General > Senso r settings . Select from the following: ● Sensors — Activate th e sensors. ● Turning control — Mute calls or snooze ala rms by turning your device.
16. Voice commands Before using voice tags, note the following: ● Voice tags are not langua ge-dependent. They are dependent on the speaker's voice. ● You must say the name exactly a s you said it when y ou recorded it. ● Voice tags are sensitive to back ground noise.
17. Time management Alarm clock Select > Applications > Clock . To view your active and inactive alarms , open the ala rms tab. To set a new alarm , select Options > New alarm . Define the repetition, if needed. When an alarm is active, is displayed.
18. Office applications Dictionary Select > Organi ser > Dictionary . To translate words from one la nguage to another, enter text in the search field. As you en ter text, s uggestions of words to translate are disp layed. To translate a w ord, select the word from the list.
3. In the other Unit field, select the uni t to which you want to convert. 4. In the first Amount field, enter the value you want to convert. The other Amount field sh ows the converted value automatically . Calculator Select > Organi ser > Calculato r .
To select where t o save notes, se lect Memory in use and the desired memory. To change the layout of activ e notes, or to view the no tes as a list, select Change view > Grid or List . To see a note in the backgrou nd when making or receiving phone calls, select Show note during call > Yes .

19. Settings Settings wizard Select > Settings > Sett. wizard . The Settings wizard application configures your device for operator and e-mail settings based on your service provider.
Change the trust settings Before changing any cert ificate settings, you must make sure that you really trust the own er of the certificate an d that the certificate really belong s to th e listed owner. Scroll to an authority certificate, and select Options > Trust settings .
20. Data management About File manager Select > Organi ser > File mgr. . With File manager, you can br owse, manage, and open files on your device, memory card, or a compatible external drive. The available options depend on the memory you select.
2. In Application manager, select Opt ions > Install . In other applications, select the installation file to start the installation. During installation, the devi ce shows information about the progress of the installation. If you i nstall an application without a digital signature or certification, the device displays a warning.

The type of content that can be transferred depends on the model of the device from which you want to transfer content.
