Warning: To use any features in this device, other than the alarm clock , the device must be switched on.
7 The PIN code supplied with the SmartChip card, protec ts the card against una uthorized use . The PIN2 code supplied with some SmartChip ca rds, is requir ed to access certain services. If you enter the PIN or PIN2 code incorrectl y three time s in succes sion, you are asked for the PUK or PUK2 code.

10 ■ Key pa d l oc k Select Menu an d press * quickl y to lock the keypad to p revent a ccident al keypresses. To a n swer a call when t he keyguard is on, press the call ke y. When you end or decl ine the call, the keypad remains locked. To unlock, select Un lock and press * quickly.

12 View the inbo x and oth er fold ers The inbox view will loa d the first page of the inbox by default. To go to the next page of the inbox, selec t Next P ag e (the last item on the page). To navigate from the inbox to another folder , sc roll right or left.
13 Notification To set e-mail notifications on or off from th e inbox v iew , select Options > Email Alerts . If e -mail notification is en abled, you get noti fications of new e- mails. This setting only applies to the current e-mail account, and does not af fect th e notifi catio n settin gs of other e- mail ac counts in e-mail.
14 Text m essage s Your device supports text messages beyond the limit for a single messa ge. Longer messages are sent as two or more messages. Your service provider may charge accordingly.
15 Instant messaging I n s t a n t m e s s a g i n g ( I M ) i s a w a y t o s e n d s h o r t , s i m p l e t e x t m e s s a g e s t o f r i e n d s a n d f a m i l y , regardless of the mobile system or platform they use (lik e the internet), as long as the y all use the same instant messaging (IM) service.
16 IM provi der select ion menu When you sele ct IM from your phone menu, a list of available IM s ervices is displaye d. Select the desired IM service to access the offline menu options: Sign in and Saved conve rsat ions . Depending on the IM service provider you are using, these may not be the e xact m enu item s displayed.
17 Return to a c h at session From the IM online menu, sele ct Conver sations . This list displays all IM conversations a nd group chats in which you are currently participating. To view a conversation or continu e chatting, sele ct a group name or cont act name.
18 Exit I M From the IM online menu, you can exit the IM applicatio n, but still be con nected to the IM service. Select Back until the IM onlin e menu appe ars; th en select Exit .

24 To save battery power in the sleep mode, select Menu > Settings > Display > Sleep mode > On . The display turn s off when no function of the phon e is used for a certain period of time.

27 Conf igu rat ion Some of the network services ne ed configuration settings on your phone. Get the settings from your SmartChip card or a service provider as a configuration message, or enter your personal se ttings manu ally.

29 Authenti cate h ologram 1. When you look at the hologram on th e label, you should see the Nokia connecting hands symbol from one angle and the Nokia Original Enhanceme nts logo when looking from another angle. 2. When you angle the hol ogram left, right, down and up, you should see 1, 2, 3 and 4 dots on each side respectively.
