1. Push the key into the hole un til the holder is released, and pull the holder out. 2. Make sure the con tact area is face up, and put the card in the holder. 3. Charge your phone There's more than one way to charge your phone. Charge your phone with a USB charger Your battery has been p artially charged at the factory, but you may need to re charge it before you can switch the phone on f or the first time.
Charge your phone wirelessly No need for hassle with cables, just p op your device on a wireless char ger, and it immediately star ts charging. Your phone supports Qi, the global standard for wireless ch arging, and is compatible with any Qi wireless charger.
Do not attemp t to remove the b attery from the de vice. To replace t he batt ery, take the device to your nearest authoriz ed se rvice facility. Authorized retail points may also offer a battery replacement service. Important: Only qualified personn el or an authorized service facilit y should replace the battery.
Microsoft account With a Microsoft account, you can access all Micr os oft services with a single username and passwor d on your compute r or phone. You can also use the same username and password on your Xbox.
To make an emergency call during the initial set-up, tap emergen cy ca ll . Lock the keys and screen Want to avoid accidentally making a call wh en your phone is in your pocket or bag? Press the power key . Unlock the keys and screen Press the power ke y, and drag the lock s creen up.
Connect the headset Enjoy your favorite music, or free your hands for other things when in a call. Connect the headset to your phone. Do not connect products that creat e an output si gnal, as this may da mage the device. Do not connect any voltage source to the audio c onnector.
Battery power l evel The battery is charging. Battery save r mode is switched on. Your calls are forwarde d to another number or you r voice mailbox. There is no SIM card in your phon e. Your SIM card is locked. A Bluetooth de vice is connected to your phone.
Basics Learn how to get the most out of your new phone. Get to know your phone Your phone has two main views, making it easy for you to keep u p with what is goin g on and what' s where.
Tip: If you've got lots of differ ent things to do, it's easy to switch between the tasks at hand. Press and hold , swi pe to the app you want, an d tap the app. Use the touch screen Explore your phone with a tap, swipe or drag. 1. To use your phone, simply tap or tap and hol d the touch screen.

Zoom in or out Place two fingers on an item, such as a map, ph oto, or web page, and slide your fingers apart or together. Important: Avoid scratching the touc h screen. Use yo ur pho ne wit h eas e Struggling with small text or blurry images? Make the fonts larger and the scree n easier to view.
Turn high contrast on Switch High contrast to On . Magnify the screen Switch Screen magnifier to On , and double-tap the screen with two fingers. When using the magnifier, use two fing ers to move around the s creen. To stop magnification , double-tap the screen with two finger s.

Create a safe, fun start screen for kids You can let your kids use your phone without having to worry ab out them accidentally deleting your work mail, making online pur chases, or doing anythi ng else they shouldn' t. Put selected apps, games, and other favorites for kids to enjoy in their own st art screen.
Personalize the lock screen Would you like to ma ke your lock screen look more unique? You can, for example, have your own favorite photo in the background.
Silence your phone When you switch silent mod e on, all ringtones and alert tones are muted. Use this w hen you are , for example, at the the ater or in a me eting. 1. Press a volume key to see the volume status bar at the top of the scree n, and tap .

Switch word suggestions off On the start screen, sw ipe left, and tap Settings > keyboard . Tap your language keyboard, and clear the Suggest text check box. Add writing languages You can add several writing languages to your keyboard and switch be tween the language s when writing.

Call the last dialed number Still have some words to say to your friends? Call them again. In th e call history view, you can see info about the calls you have made and re ceived. 1. On the start screen , tap . 2. Tap next to the name or phone number.
Forward calls to your voicemai l Besides forwarding calls to another phone n umber, you can als o forward these calls to your voicemail, and listen to them later. 1. Tap > > settings . 2. For the first time, type in your default voicemail number in the Voicemail number box.

Messages Stay in touch with your fr iends, and sen d them text or multimedia m essages, or start chatting. You can open messages directly from the start screen.

Mail You can use your phone to read and reply to mail when you are on the go. On the start screen, tap . To send a nd receive ma il, you must be connecte d to the i nternet. Add a mailbox Do you use differ ent mail addresse s for business an d leisure? You can add se veral mailboxes to your phone.
Open mail from the start sc reen With live mail tiles you can open mail directly from the start screen. From the tiles, you can see the number of unr ead mails and if you've received new mai l. You can pin severa l mailboxes to the start screen. For ex ample, dedicate a tile for business mail and another for personal m ail.
Read mail Waiting for important news? Use your phone to read your mail instead of c hecking them only whe n you're at your desk. You can see when you have new mail on the start screen. 1. On the start screen , tap . 2. In your mailbox, tap t he mail.
Delete mail Is your mailbox overflowing? Delete some m ails to free up space in your phone. 1. In your mailbox, tap t o the left of the mails you want to del ete. 2. Tap the check boxes that appear next to the mails, and tap All the mails you selected are deleted.
Link several mailboxes as a unified inbox If you have more than one mail account, you can choose which inboxes you want to link together in to one inbox. The un ified inbox lets you see a ll your mail at a glance. 1. On the start screen , tap a mailbox.
Camera Why carry a separa te camera if your phon e has all you need for captu ring memories? With your phone camera, you can easily take photos or record videos. Take a photo Shoot sharp and vibrant phot os – capture the best momen ts in your p hoto album.
4. To take the photo, press the camera key down fully. To view the photo you just took, swipe right. Photos are saved in your Camera Roll in the Photos hub. Take a photo without using the camera key If needed, turn touch capture on in the camera settings.
Take a close-up photo It can be tricky to get small objects, su ch as flowers, in focus. You need to move the camera closer to the object. To take sh arp and precise photos of even th e tiniest details, u se close-up mode. 1. To open the ca mera, press th e camera key.
2. Tap > find more lenses , and follow the instructions. Using services or downloading cont ent may cause transfer of large amounts of data, which may resu lt in data traffic costs. Record a video Besides taking photos with your phone, you ca n also capture your spec ial moment s as videos.
Tip: To quickly share a photo or video with someone close by, tap Tap+Send , and touch the other phone with your phone. The other phon e needs to support NFC. Tip: You can also share from the Photos hub. Just select the phot o or video, and tap > share.
To find your photos and videos easily, mark your favorites , or organize th em into albums . View photos Relive those important moments – view the photos on your phone. Tap Photos . 1. To view a photo you've taken, tap Camera Roll and the ph oto.
Change the background in the Photos hub Have a su perb shot tha t makes you feel good ev ery time you look at it? Set it as the backgroun d of the Photos hub. 1. Tap Photos . 2. Tap > choose background . 3. Select the photo, and tap . Tip: You can also set your phone to p eriodic ally change the photo automatically.
Copy your photos to y our computer Have you taken photos w ith your phone that you'd like to copy to your computer? Use your computer's file man ager to copy or move your ph otos. If your computer is a Mac, install the Wind ows Phone app from the Mac App Store.
Maps & navigation Explore what’s out ther e and how to get there. Switch location services on Find out where you are using Maps, and s ave your lo cation to the photos you take – let apps use your location info to offer you a wider variety of services.
• Write a review for a place, or take a photo and uplo ad it for everyone to see, eith er on their phone or at the Nokia Maps website Contents of digital maps may sometimes b e inaccurat e and inc omplete. Nev er rely solel y on the content or the service for essential com munications, such as in emergencies.
Tip: Want to see more info about a place? The plac e details view can contain general info, photos, reviews, links t o guides, and f urther sugges tions of nearby p laces. When the location is sh own on the m ap, to se e the pla ce detail s view, ta p the info bubble.
Find certain types of nearby places When the nearby places are shown on the map, sw ipe up from th e bottom of th e screen, and tap show categories and a category. The nearby places in the category are shown in a list. To se e them on the map, tap the map.

The available options and features may vary by region. The unavailable options are dimmed. Nokia City Lens Are you looking for interesting things to do near by? Discover places around you with Nokia City Lens.
The radar in the top right corner helps you quickly see where there are places near you. Tip: If there are m any places in the sa me location, to view th em, tap . View places in a list Hold your phone in portrait mode. Search for a p lace In the main view, tap , and write your search word.
Save an event or item to your favorites Tap the item or event, an d tap . Positioning methods Your phone shows you r location on the map using GP S, GLONASS, A-GPS, Wi-F i, or network (Cell ID) based positi oning.
Internet Learn how to create wireless connections and browse the web while keeping your data costs down. Define internet connections Does your network service provider charge you a fixed fee for data transfer or on a pay as you use basis? Change the Wi-Fi and mobile data settings to reduce your dat a costs while roaming and at home.

Nokia Music With Nokia Music on Windows phone, you can down load songs on your phone and compatible computer. On the start screen, sw ipe left, and tap Nokia Music . For more info, go to music.nokia.com . This service is not available in all countries or regions.
Personalize your mix radio You can create a mu sic profile to listen t o genre mi xes that have been tailore d to your taste. Your profile is compiled automatically from the music you have on your compute r. 1. On the start screen , swipe left, and tap Nokia Music > mi x radio .
Sync music and videos between your phone and computer Do you have media on your PC that you want to listen to or watch on your phone? Use a USB cable to sync mus ic and videos between y our phone and computer. 1. Connect your phone to a c ompatib le computer with a USB cable.

The availability of payment methods de pends on your country of residence and your network service provider. Tip: If you need to, for example, temporar ily clos e your internet connection, tap and hold the downlo ading item, and tap pause . To resume dow nloading, tap re sume . Pause pending items individually. If a download fails, you can re-download the item.
Play a game Gaming on your phone is a trul y social experienc e . Xbox, Microsoft's gaming service, lets yo u play games with your friends and use your gamer profile to keep track of game scores and ach ievements. You can do this online, on your Xbox console, and on your phone i n the Games hub.

Wi-Fi connections Your phone pe riodically checks for and notifies y o u of available connections. The notification appears briefly a t the top of the scre en. To manag e yo ur Wi-Fi connections, select the notif ication. On the start screen, sw ipe left, and tap Settings > Wi-Fi .
Before using NFC, make sure the screen an d keys are unlocke d. You may be able to pay or use your phone as a ticket even when your phone is locked, depending on your service provider. Connect to a Bluetooth accessory with NFC Hands busy? Use a headset.
Read NFC tags NFC tags can contain info, such as a web address, a phone number, or a business card. If you see a tag, why not tap it with your phone, and see what happens? Tap a tag with the NFC area of your phone.
Bluetooth You can connect wirelessly to other compatible devi ces, such a s phones, c omputers, h eadsets , and car kits. You can also send your photos to compatible phones or to your computer. On the start screen, sw ipe left, and tap Settings > Bluetooth .
