Use of incompatible SIM cards may damage the card or the device, and may corrupt data stored on the card. Do not use SIM cards that have been modifi ed to fit the micro-SIM holder. To replace a standard SIM card with a micro-SIM card, contact your service provider.
5 Make sure the contact area would face down, put the SIM into the holder, then lower the holder. 6 Sli de the SIM holder to lock it. 7 Line up the battery contacts, push the battery in, then replace the back cover. Remove the SIM 1 Switch the phone of f.
3 If the battery is in the phone, lif t it out. 4 Slide the memory card holder to unlock it. Use your fingernail to li ft the memory card holder. 5 Make sure the contact area would face do wn, put the memory card into the holder and lower the holder. Memory cards are available separately .
6 Sli de the memory card holder to lock it. 7 Line up the battery contacts, push the battery in, then replace the back cover. Remove the memory card 1 Switch the phone of f. 2 Remove the back cover. 3 If the battery is in the phone, lift it out. 4 Open the memory card holder, then pull the card out.
You can use USB charging when a wall outlet is not available . Data can be transferred while charging the device. The effi ciency of USB chargi ng power varies signifi cantly, and it may take a long time for charging to start and the device to start functioning.

Nokia account When you switch your phone on for the fi rst time, your phone guides you through creating a Nokia account. You can: • Access all Nokia services wi th a single username and password, both on your phone and a compatible computer • Download content from Nokia service s • Save details about your phone model and contact information.
4 Sel ect what you want to copy, then select OK . If your old Nokia phone doesn't have the Phone switch app, your new phone sends it in a message using Bluetooth. To install th e app, open the message in your old phone, then follow the instructions shown o n the phone.
Do not connect products that create an outp ut signal, as this may damage the device. Do not connect any voltage source to th e Nokia AV connector. If you connect an external device or headset, other than those approved by No kia for use with this device, to the No kia AV connector, pay special attention to vol ume levels.
Tip: You can download more content su pported by NFC from Nokia Store. Activa te NFC Select > Settings and Connectivity > NFC > NFC > On . Connect to a Bluetooth accessory usi ng NFC Touch the NFC area of the acce ssory with the NFC area of your phone, and select Yes .
Use the user guide in your phone Your phone has a built-in user guide. It's always with you, available when needed. Select > User guide . Search the user guide When th e user g uide is open, select > Search , then write a letter or a word in the search field.
Touch screen actions To use your phone, tap or tap and hold the touch screen. Important: Avoi d scratching the touch screen. Never use an actual pen, pencil, or other sharp object on the touch screen. Open an app or it em Tap the app or item. Tap and hold to see more options Place your finger on an item until the menu opens.
Example: You can drag items on the home screen, or when arranging the main menu. Swipe Place your finger on the screen, then sli de it in the direction you want. Example: To switch to another home screen, swipe left or right. To quickly scroll through a long list or menu, slide your finger quickly up or down the screen, then lift your finger.
Use shortcuts You don't have to navigate long paths to , for example , open or close an internet connection, or to sil ence your phone. You can access these se ttings directly in the status menu, no matter what application or view you're in.
Applications running in the background increase the demand on battery power and use memory. To close an applicatio n that you are not using, se lect . Tip: To close al l open applications, select an d hold the task switcher, and from the pop-up menu, select Close all .
4 Character range - Select the desired charac ter range, such as numbers or special characters. 5 Arrow keys - Move the cursor left or right. 6 Space bar - Insert a space. 7 Input menu - Activate predictive text in put, or change the w riting language.
1 Number keys 2* - Enter a special character, or when predictive te xt input mode is activated and the word underlined, cycle through the word candidates.
Activate predictive text input wit h the virtual keypad Predictive text input is based on a built-in dictionary to which you can add new words. Predictive text input is not avai lable for all language s. 1 Sel ect > Activate predictive text . 2 To write the desired word, use the keys 2-9.
The touch screen and keys are locked. Someone has tried to call you. You have unread messages. If the message indicator is bli nking, your Inbox folder may be full . You have a mi ssed calendar event. An alarm is set. Messages are waiting to be sent in the Outbox folder.
Network indicators Your phone is connected to a GSM network (network service). Your phone is connected to a 3G network (network service). A GPRS dat a connectio n (netwo rk servic e) is openin g or clos ing. A Wi-Fi connection is ope n. A GPRS data connection is open.
Search your phone and the internet Explore your phone and the i nternet. You can search for mai l, contacts, photos, music, or apps stored on your phone and on t he internet. Select > Search . 1 Start writing a search word, then select from the proposed matches.
• Always charge the battery full y. • When power saving mode is on, phone settings, such as Network mod e and the screen saver, are optimised. Example: Landscape mode: to get distant scenery in f ocus. Close-up mode: when taking photos of small details. Sno w mode: for very white environments. Spotlight mode: at concerts where the perform er is under spotlights, in front of a dark background.
Record videos Record a video Besides taking photos with your phone, you can also capture your special moments as videos. To open the camera, press the came ra key. 1 To switch from pho to mode to video mo de, if necessary, select . 2 To start recording, press the camera key.
Video tips To open the camera, press the camera key. • For best results, close any open apps before recording. • Record to your pho ne mass memory, if po ssible. • If recording videos to a memory card, for best performance , use a compatible, fast, high-quality microSD card.
Send a photo or video A picture can s ay more than words. Se nd a photo or video of that special moment or important info you need to get across in a multimedia or mail message, or using Bluetooth. Send in a multimedi a or mail message 1 Take a pho to or record a video.
The location of the NFC area may vary. For m ore info, see the user guide of the other phone. Share a photo or video di rectly from the camera Want to share the best shots with your friends? Upload your photo or video to a social networking service right after taking it.
Using serv ices or downlo ading co ntent may cause transfer of large amounts of data, which may result in data traffic costs. Set where to save photos and videos If there is a memory card in your phone, you can se t where to save the photos y ou take and videos you record.
Tip: To zoom in quickly, do uble-tap the scr een. To zoom i n fully, double-tap the screen again. To zoom back out, double-tap the screen once more. View the toolbar Tap the screen. Play a video Select the video and . Photos and videos c an be sent to you in a mail or mu ltimedia messag e.
Add a tag Select and hold the photo you want to have as the first photo in the new tag group, then select Add tag . Edit a photo you have taken You can do quick edits, such as crop, resize, fix contrast, and add effec ts to the photos you have taken. 1S e l e c t > Gallery and the photo.
3 Add a comment if you like, then se lect Share . Tip: You can also share your photos and videos with another phone that supports NFC. To share, select a photo o r video, then touch the other phone with the NFC area of your phone.

Sync your photos and videos betwee n your phone and computer Did you take photos or record video s with your phone that you'd like to watch on your computer? Using a USB cable, you can easi ly sync your photos and vide os between your phone and a computer.
Select > Settings > Profiles . Select the profile, Personalise , and the desired option. Tip: To download more ringtones from No kia Store, select Download s ounds . You can also use your phone without a SIM. Switch the phone off, and remove the SIM. When you switch back on, the o ffline profile is switched on. Important: In the offline profile you cannot make o r receive any calls, or use other features that require cellular network coverage.

Add a widget to the home scr een Interested in today's weather or what's currently in the news? You can add mini- applications (widgets) to your home screen , and see your most relevant information at a glance. Tap and hold an empty area on the home screen, and from the pop-up menu, select Add widg et and a widget.

Search Nokia Store Check out the latest and most downloaded apps or games, and items recommended for you and your phone. You can browse th e different categori es, or search for a specific item. 1S e l e c t > Store , then sign in to your Nokia account.
View your downloads While an item is downloading, you can contin ue to browse for other content and add items to your download queue. 1 Select > Store , then sign in to your Nokia account. 2 Select . You can see the status of currently downlo ading items in the New down loads sec tion.
Select . When you make or receive a video call, the loudspeake r is automatically switched on. Switch the loudspeaker off Select . Search for a contact from the dialler On the home screen, select , then start writing the contact's first or second name.
Switch the turn to silence feature on Select > Settings and Phone > Sensor settings > Silence calls > On . When your phone rings, turn your phone face down. Call a contact 1 Select > Contac ts . 2 To search for a contact, select , then write the first letters or characters of the first or second name in the se arch field.
End both calls Select > End all calls . Make a video call Do you have friends or family that you don' t see in person very often? For a face-to- face chat, why not make a video call to them? Video calls are a netwo rk service, and to make a video call, you need to be in a 3G network.
Answer a video call When a video call arrives, is shown. 1 Press the call key. 2 To start s ending live video, select Yes . When you answer the video call, the loud speaker i s automatically switched on. If you do not start sending video, you only hear the voice of the caller.
2 To make a call to ano ther person, select . Type in the phone number, or to search for a contact, select . The first call is put on hol d. 3 When the new call is answered, select > Con ferenc e . Add another pers on to a conference call Call the person, then select .
Voice commands are not dependent on the speaker’s voice. Commands are automatically created by your phone. When adding contacts or editing voic e co mmands, do not use ve ry short or similar names for different contacts or commands.
View your missed calls On the home screen, you can see when you ha ve missed calls. Th e number of all missed events, including missed call s and received messages, is shown. To view the phone number, swipe down from the no tification area, then sel ect the missed calls notificatio n.
2 Type in the number. To use a number saved in your contacts list, sel ect Find . Call barring and call forwarding cannot be used at the same time. Prevent maki ng or receiving calls Sometimes you may want to restrict the calls that can be made or received with your phone.
3 Write the contact name and phone number to which calls are allowed, then se lect . To add a contact from the contacts list to the fixed dialling list, se lect > Add from Contacts and a contact.
Save a number from a received call 1 On the home screen, press the call key. 2 Open the Received calls tab . 3 Select and hold a phone number, and from the pop-up menu, select Save to Contacts . 4 Select whether you want to create a new contact list entry or update an existing one.
Send a message to a contact On the home screen, select the contact and Message . Remove a contact from the home screen On the home screen, select and hol d the contact, and select . The contact is removed from the home scr een, but rem ains in your co ntacts list.
Send a message to a group of people Would you like to send a mess age to all your family me mbers quickly? If you have assigned them to a group, y ou can send a message to all of them at the same time . Select > Contacts . 1O p e n t h e tab. 2 Select and hold a group title, and from the pop-up menu, select Create message .
If you allow automatic sy ncing, all the ch anges you make in the contacts list are automatically backed up to Nokia se rvices. You need a Nokia account to use Nokia services. Yo u are asked to create an account, if you access a Nokia service using your phone.
1 Select > Social . 2 Select a service, then sign in. 3 Select > My Accounts > Add social network . 4 Select another service, then sign in. 5 Select > Al l Activity . All the feeds from the service s you have added are automatically included in the view.
2S e l e c t . 3 Select whether to upload a photo or video. 4 To mark the items to upload, select the items. The maximum file size is 4 MB for photos and 10 MB for videos. 5 If uploading a single photo, you can add a caption and a tag with a comment to a particular section of the photo.
1 Select > Social . 2 Select a friend's profile picture, then select the communication method. This feature is available if you have linked your online friends to their contact info in your phone, or if your friends have added their own contact info to their details i n the service.
Tip: To include an attachment, such as a photo or video, select . 4S e l e c t . Tip: To send a message to a contact from your contacts list, select and hold a contact, then select Send message . Sending a message with an attachment may be more expensive than sending a normal text message.
Forward the message 1 With the message open, select > Forward . 2 To add a contact as a recipient, select To . You can also type in a phone number. 3 Edit the message if needed, then select > . Save an attached photo or other file 1 In the conversation, select the message containing the file.
You can automatically transf er mail from your existing mai l address to your phone, and read, respond to, and organise your mail on the go. You can add several mailboxes to your phone and access them directly from your home screen. Sending or receiving mail on your phon e may be chargeable.
Open or save an at tachment Select the attachment and Open or Save . If there is more than one attachment, you can save them all at once. Reply to the mail 1 Select > . 2 Write your reply, then select . 3 Select . Forward the mail 1 Select > . 2 Type in the mail address.

Internet About the web browser Select > Web . Catch up on th e news, and vis it your favourit e websites. Yo u can use your pho ne web browser to view web pages on the interne t. To browse the web, you must be connected to the internet. Browse the web Select > Web .
Add a bookmark If you visit the same websites all the time, add them to your Bookmarks vi ew, so you can easily access them. Select > Web . While browsing, tap and hold the web pa ge, then select Add boo kmark . Go to a bookmarked website while browsing Select > and a bookmark.
Remove access to location info from all websit es Select > Settings > Privacy > Clear privacy data > Location permissions . Access an online serv ice using NFC When you touch an NFC tag that contains a web address with the NFC area of your phone, the website opens in your phone web browser.
Pause and resum e playback To pause playback, select ; to resume, selec t . Fast-forward or rewind a song Select and hold or . Play a song on repeat Select . Tip: When listening to music, you can return to the home scree n, leaving the musi c playing in the background.
This does not delete the song from the ph one; it only removes it from the playl ist. Tip: Music player automatically creates a playlist for the most played songs, re cently played songs, and recently added songs.
To download music, you need to create a free Nokia account. You can create a Nokia account, j oin Nokia Mu sic, and sign in to your account using any of the following: • Your phone • A compatible web browser • Nokia Suite If you already have a Nokia account, you can use that account for Nokia Music.
The FM transmitter cannot be used at the same time as the FM radio of your phone. Note: Using FM transmitter may be restricted in some countries. For more information, contact your local au thorities and go to www.
It is not possible to listen to th e radio through a Bluetooth headset. You can listen to the radio even when offlin e mode is activated in your phone and you do not have cel lular network coverage. The quality of the radio broadc ast depends on the FM radio s ignal coverage at your location.
Go to the next or previous station Select or . View all available stat ions Select . Scan for another av ailable stat ion Select and hold or . Tip: To easily access the radi o, add the radio widget to the home screen. Reorder the list of saved stations You can reorder the list of saved stations, so that your favourites are at the top.
Set your phone to ask before allowing any card tra nsactions Select Ask before using cards > Yes . Note: If this setting is off, your phone does n't ask for confirmation before al lowing card transactions, not even when your phone or keys and screen are locked.
To browse video servic es, open the tab. If you connect your phone to an HD TV, you can watch videos on the big screen. Watch a video Select a video to play. To use the vide o player controls, tap the screen. Watch a video with surround sound Connect compatible headphones to your phone, then select to switch the Dolby™ Headphone feature on.
4 To chan ge the volume, use the volume keys . Add a Web TV widget to your home screen Tap and hold an empty area of the home screen, and select Add widget and the desired Web TV service. Connect to your HD TV You can use an HDMI Micro Connector cable (available separately) to connect your phone to a TV or compati ble home theatr e. Photos and vi deos keep their original video and audio quality. 1 Connect an HDMI Micro Connector cabl e to the HDMI Micro Connector of your phone.
There are different types of DLNA devi ces. If you can connect to the device on your phone and can control the streaming, the device i s a renderer. If you can view the media on your phone from y our device, the device is a player. To find out what kind of DLNA device you have, you c an also check th e device user guid e.
The photo is pushed to your DLNA device after 3 seconds. To start immediately, tap the area. Use your DLNA device to stream content saved on your phone 1 Select > Settings and Connectivity > DLNA server > DLNA server > On . 2 Use your DLNA device to detect your phone, then view the content on your phone through the DLNA device.

You can also choose to allow or avoid using, for example, motorways, toll roads, or ferries.
Walk to your destination When you need directions to follow a rout e on foot, Maps guides you over squares, and through parks, pedestrian zones, and even shopping centres. Select > Maps . 1 Select a place and its info area at the top of the screen.

Remove a map Select and hold a country, then confi rm that you want to remove the map. Tip: You can also use the Nokia Suite PC app to download the latest street maps and voice guidance files, and copy them to yo ur phone. To download and i nstall Nokia Suite, go to www.
Select > Weather . Browse the detailed forecast To browse forwards or backwards in time, drag the time slider at the bottom of the view. View a five-day forecast Select . To go back to the detailed forecast view, select . The service may not be ava ilable in your country.
Depending on the available positioning me thods, the accuracy of positioning may vary from a few metres to several kilometres. Switch positioning methods off To save on data costs, especially when abroad, you can switch off assisted GPS (A- GPS), Wi-Fi, or network (cell ID) positioning.

Update the time and date automatically You can set your phone to update the tim e, date, and time zone automatically. Automatic update is a network servi ce. On the home screen, select the clock. Select > Settings > Au tomatic ti me update > On .
On the home screen, select the clock. Open the world clock tab . Add a location Select and a location. You can add up to 15 locations. For countries with multiple time zones, you can add several locations. Add a pictu re fo r a l ocatio n Select and hold the locati on, an d from the pop-up menu, select Change image and a picture.
Use separate calendars for work and free time You can have more than one calendar. Crea te one for work and another for your free time. Select > Calendar . Create a new calendar 1S e l e c t > Calendars > . 2 Write a name, then set a co lour code for the calendar.
4 Fill in the fields. 5 To add a reminder for the task, select . 6 Select Save . Remember a birthd ay You can add a reminder for birthdays and other spe cial dates. The reminders are repeated annually. 1 Select > Calend ar . 2 Select . 3 Select the event type field , then select Anniversary as the event type.

Change the priority of an access point in the internet destination li st 1S e l e c t Network destinat ions > Internet . 2 Select and hold an access point, and from the pop-up menu, select Change priority . 3 Tap the position in the li st to move the access point to.
Tip: You can add a Wi-Fi widget to the home scree n. To quickly switch the Wi-Fi feature on or off, select the switch in the widget. To open the Wi-Fi app, select in the widget. The Wi-Fi feature needs to be switched on. The Wi-Fi app shows a list of available networks and helps yo u connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network on the move Connecting to a Wi-Fi network is a handy way of accessing the internet when not at home. Connect to public Wi-Fi networks in pu blic places, such as a library or internet café. 1 To open the status menu, swipe down fr om the top of the screen.
View details for a connection Select the connection. Details, such as the amount of transferre d data and conne ction duration, are shown. Tip: In most views, to see what connectio ns are active, swipe down from the notification area. Bluetooth About Bluetooth Select > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth .
Operating the device in hidden mode is a safer way to avoid malicious so ftware. Do not accept Bluetooth connect ion requests from sources you do not trust.
Before remote SIM mode can be activated, your phone and accessory must be paired. Initiate the pairing from the car kit a ccessory. 1 To activate Bluetooth, select Bluetooth > On . 2 To activate remote SIM mode, select Remote S IM mode > On . 3 Activate Bluetooth in the car kit accessory .
