1. General information About your device The wireless device described in this guide is approved for use on the GSM 900 and 1800 MHz networks. Contact your service provider for more information about networks.
Shared memory The following features in this device may sha re memory: multimedia messaging (MMS), e-mail application, instant messaging. Use of one or more of these features may reduce the memory available for the remaining feat ures sharing memory.
2. Get started Install SIM card and battery Always switch the device o ff and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. The SIM car d and its cont acts can be ea sily damaged by scratche s or bending, so be careful when handling, insert ing, or removing the card.
Headset Warning: Listen to music at a moderate le vel. Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your hearing. Do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use, because th e volume may be extremely loud. Warning: When you use the headset, your ab ility to hear outside sounds may be affected.
Note: Avoid touching this connector as it is intended for use by authorised service personnel only. Switch the phone on and off To switch the phone on or off, press and hold the power key. Standby mode When the phone is ready for use, and you have not entered any characters, the p hone is in the standby mode.
Applications running in background Leaving applications running in the background increa ses the demand on battery p ower and reduces the batte ry life. 3. Calls Make and answer a c all To make a call, enter the phone number, including the country code and area code if necessary.
To set the writing lan guage, select Options > Writing language . Traditional text input Press a number key, 2-9, repeatedly until the desired character appears.
Text messages Your device supports text messages beyo nd the limit for a single message. Longer messages are sent as two or more mess ages. Your service provider may charge accordingly.
Before you can use e-mail, you must have an e-mail account an d the correct settings. To check the availability a nd the settings of your e-mail account, contact your e-mail service provider. You may receive the e-mail configuration settings as a configuration message.
Instant messaging With instant messaging (IM, network service) you can send short text me ssages to online users. You must subscribe to a service and re g ister with the IM service you want to use. Check the availability of this service, pricing, and instructions wit h your service provider.
To copy a co ntact between the phone memory and SIM card memory, select Names , scroll to the contact, and select Options > Copy contact . In the SIM card memory, you can save only one phone number for each name.
Select Menu > Sett ings > Tones . You can find the same settings in the Profiles menu. If you select the h ighest ringing tone level, the ringing tone reac hes its highest le vel after a few seconds. Display To view or adjust the wallpaper, font size, or other features related to the phone display, select Menu > Set tings > Display .

To divert your incoming calls, select Call divert (netwo rk service). For details, contact your service provider. To make ten attempts to connect the ca ll after a n unsuccessful attempt, select Automatic re dial > On .

FM radio The FM radio depends on an antenna other than the wireless device antenna. A compatible headset or accessory needs to be attached to the device for the FM radio to function properly. Warning: Listen to music at a moderate le vel. Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your hearing.
To fast-forward, press and hold the scroll key to the right. To adjust the volume, scroll up or down. To mute or unmute the music play er, press # . To leave the music player playing in the ba ckgr ound, press the end key. To stop the music player, press and hold the end key.
To view the day notes, select View . To delete all notes in the calendar, select Option s > Delete notes > All notes . To view the to-do list, select Menu > Organiser > To-do list .
