SECTION I SAFETY INFORMA TION W ARNINGS IMPORTANT: READ THIS OWNER’S MANUAL CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY BEFORE TRYING TO ASSEMBLE, OPERAT E, OR SERVICE THE APPLIANCE. IMPROPER USE OF THESE LOGS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEAT H FROM BURNS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, AND CARBON MON OXIDE POISONING.

SECTION II FIREPLACE PREP ARA TI ON The fireplace needs to be prepared before installing the heater. A. Turn off the gas supply to the fireplace. W ARNING: BEFORE INSTALLING IN A SOLID-FUEL B URNING FIREPLACE, THE CHIMNEY FL UE AND FIREBOX MUST BE CLEANED OF SOOT, CREOSOTE, AS HES, AND LOOSE PAINT BY A QUALIFIED CHIMNEY CLEANER.
INST ALLA TION AND CLEARANCES To ensure a safe installation into a masonry or fact ory built fireplace, the following instructions must be carefully followed: (1) Sidewall Clearances: Clearance from the side of the fireplace opening to any adjacent co m bustible wall should not be less than: right side 7", left side 7".

GAS PRESSURE CHECK Check the inlet pressure to the burner to ensu re that it is as shown in the ta ble below. NOTE: The pressure check point is located on the righ t side of the valve facing burner, for ITT, and the left side for SIT.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION • This valve operates off of millivolts produced by the generator. You may choose to use an optional Wall Thermostat or Remo te control.

LIGHTING INSTRUCTION 1. STOP! Read the safety information on preceding page 15. 2. Make sure manual shutoff valve is fully closed. 3. Turn off all electrical power to the appliance. 4. Open access panel door located at bottom front of the appliance. 5.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION 1. The thermostat control on this heater diffe rs from standard thermostats. Standard thermostats simply turn the burner on and of f. The thermostat used on this heater senses the room temperature and adjusts the amount of gas flow to the burner.
OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Before operating this appliance, proceed throug h the following checklist. 1. Read and understand these instructi ons before operating this appliance. 2. Check that there are no gas leaks. If you sm ell gas do not attempt to light this appliance.
REMOTE CONTROL OR WALL THERMOSTAT NOTE: Knob cannot be turned from “PILOT” to “OFF” unless knob is pushed in slightly. Do not force. 6. Wait (5) five minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in the safety in form ation on the reverse side of this label.
* If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries, turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and call your service technician or gas supplier. 11. Turn control knob counterclockwise to “ON”. 12. If using unit without wall thermostat place Auto/Off/Ma nual switch into the manual position.
MANUAL LIGHTING PROCEDURE 1. If the pilot cannot be lit with the piez o, it can be manually lit with the us e of a paper match and a lighter rod. 2. Open access panel door located at bottom front of the appliance. 3. Place the match in the holder and light.
FLAME CHECK A periodic check of the flames shou ld be made. The pilot flame should always be present when the gas logs are in operation. See Figure 4. Rear Flames: The flames at the rear or at either .
WIRING DIAGRAM NOTE : “If any of the original wire as s upplied with the gas appliance must be replaced, it must be replaced with a wire of at least a 105 o C. temperature rating.” NOTE : Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person.

SECTION III INST ALLA TION MODEL 34 (FP) IN SOLID FUEL BURNING FIREPLACES (1) The Model FP-34 may be installe d in a masonry fireplace. The minimum fireplace dimension must be 24" high, 29-1/2" wide, and 12" deep. (2) For minimum dimensions for th e sidewall and m antel, see Figure 6.
B. Set the top (long) trim panel in place on top of unit. The panel should be f lat against the outside face of the fireplace, and standing vertically.
SECTION IV INST ALLA TION OF MODEL 34 (WS) OPTIONAL WOODEN SURR OUND (KIT#P AKDFP34) NOTE: See page 26, figure 6 for clearances. (1) When choosing the right location for your heater and surroun d (man.
STEP 7: Slide the unit into th e front opening of the surround so the top m etal trim panel and outer sides of the heater meet flush with the surround front. STEP 8: Remove cloth or blanket from underneath stove. STEP 9: Take the two metal “ell” brackets with the screws provided and anchor the back of the fireplace to the surround.
SECTION V MODEL 34 (ZC) ZERO CLEARANCE INST ALLA TION The installation must conform with local c odes ,or in the absence of local codes, with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA54 . This appliance may be installed in an After-Market * Manufactured (Mobile) Home, where not prohibited by state or local codes.
3-1/4" 4-1/4" GAS LINE WARNING: Installation and repairs should be performed by a qualif ied service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least annually by a professional ser- vice person. More frequent cleaning may be re quired due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc.
FIREPLACE CLEARANCES (ZC) The fireplace may be placed directly on a combustible floor, against a combustible wall at m arked clear- ances, or on a raised wooden platform. If the fireplace is to be installed on a raised wooden platform, the platform must be a continuous level surface.
FINISHING YOUR FIREPLACE (ZC) There is a wide variety of finishing material available for your fireplace from formal wall treatments with m arble and mantels, to rustic wood paneling, stone or brick. Non- combustib le mate rials used in this installation such as slate, tile, m arble, etc.
SECTION VI AFTER MARKET MOBILE HOME INST ALLA TION NOTE : See “Producing Adequate Ventilation” page 35 . PRODUCING ADEQUA TE VENTILA TION This section is for residential o r manufactured (mobile) installa tion “This heater shall not be insta lled in a confined space or unusua lly tight construction u nless pro- visions are adequate combus tion and ventilation air.

VENTILA TION AIR VENTILA TION AIR FROM INSIDE BUI LDING This fresh air would come from an adjoining unconf ined space. When venting to an adjoining space, you must provide two permanent openings: one within 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of the floor on the wall connecting the two spaces.
VENTILA TION AIR FROM OUTDOORS Provide extra fresh air by using ventilation grills or ducts. You must pr ovide two permanent openings: one within 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of the floor. Connect these items directly to the outdoors.
IMPOR T ANT S AFEGUARDS Although your gas logs are very realistic in appearan ce, it is not a real burning fireplace and must not be used for burning rejected material.
