If you set up your computer to use a static IP address, change the settings so that it uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

Y ou can set up a DMZ (demilitarized zone) server , change the maximum transmit unit (MTU) size, and enable the modem router to respond to a ping to its W AN (Internet) port.
