8 I NSTALLATION Keyboard Wedge 1. Turn off the ho st device. 2. Plug the male 10-pin RJ45 end of the PowerLin k cable into th e 10-pin socket on t he IS3480. 3. Disconne ct the keyboard from the host device. 4. Connect the “Y ” end of the PowerLink c able to the key board and the key board port on t he host PC.

17 S CANNER O PERATION Sweet Spot Mode The sweet spot mode is used to d etermine w here the maximum read rate area or “sweet spot” is locat ed for a spe cific bar code ty pe. When activ ated this mo de provides v isual and a udible feedbac k indicat ing how the s canner is sca nning.
18 S CANNER O PERATION A udi ble Indicators When the IS 3480 is in opera tion, it ca n provide au dible feedbac k. These soun ds indicate the status of t he scanner. Eight settings are available for the tone o f the beep (normal, 6 alternate t ones and no ton e).
19 S CANNER O PERATION Visual Indicat ors There are four LED s located on the top of t he IS3480. W hen the s canner is on, the flashing or constant illumination of the LEDs in dicates the st atus of the current scan and the scanne r. No LEDs The LEDs w ill not be ill uminated if the scanner i s not receiving power from the host or tra nsformer.
