3 1 BEFORE WASHING THE FIRST TIME CAUTION WITH CER T AIN MA TERIALS Always check and adhere to recommended washing marking on the items concerned. If no recommendations are given, refer to those in Chapter 8, Before washing. TRANSPORT SUPPORTS Are the transport supports removed? If not, see the Installation instructions.
4 INTERRUPTING A PROGRAMME Y ou can interrupt a washing programme and open the door by holding the button down for thr ee seconds. The machine will then “ r emember” the point in the washing program- me at which it was interrupted. T o restart: fill with new detergent, if required, and close the door .
5 TRANSPORT/ WINTER STORAGE If the machine is to be transported, or stored in unheated premises where the temperature can fall below freezing point, you should proceed as follows: • Empty the coin trap and the drain pump; see Chapter 11, Care - Cleaning.
6 3 CHILDREN’S SAFETY CHILD-SAFE W ASHING Always close the washer door and start the pro- gramme immediately after filling the detergent. Do not allow children to play with the wash- ing machine. PROTECT CHILDREN Keep detergents and conditioner out of the reach of children.

9 RECOMMENDED W ASHING MARKING Check the recommended washing marking on garments. The table below gives useful informa- tion on suitable washing programmes for diffe- rent materials and amounts of washing.
10 Wool and silk W ool and silk are sometimes marked machine wash, and sometimes hand wash. The W ool and Hand programmes of the machine are at least as gentle as washing by hand. W ool is particularly sensitive to mechanical processing. If you wish to avoid spin drying, you can press out the water instead using terry towelling.
11 DETERGENTS Overdosing detergent will not give better re- sults, it only increases the burden on the envi- ronment. T r y using less detergent, and increase the dose only if you are displeased with the washing re- sults. TEXTILE DYEING If you want to dye fabrics in the machine, select Normal with the Super rinse option, .
12 The following step-by-step instructions are pro- vided to help you to achieve the best possible washing result. SOR T THE W ASHING For tips and advice, see Chapter 8 – Before washing. NOTE Empty the pockets. Coins, nails and similar items can cause damage to the machine and textiles.

14 SELECT A PROGRAMME Select the programme that you wish to use with the programme selector knob. See the table of programmes for more infor- mation about the various available program- mes. SELECTING SETTINGS AND OPTIONS Y ou can obtain a washing programme to suit your particular wash by changing the settings and options.
15 Super rinse Super rinse is switched on or off by pressing the button. The LED next to the button will light when Super rinse is switched on. Super rinse means that extra rinses will be added to the programme; see the T able. E2 Eco/Efficiency E2 is switched on or off by pressing the button.
16 DURING THE PROGRAMME If you wish to interrupt or change the programme Hold down the button for three se- conds. An extinguished LED next to the button indicates that the programme has been inter- rupted. Add mor e detergent, if necessar y , befor e se- lecting a new programme.
17 8 8 9 9 WHEN W ASHING IS FINISHED T urn off the main pow er switch . Close the washer door to prevent small children from crawling into the machine. PROGRAMME COMPLETED The text in the display indicates that the programme is completed. Press the button once, and the LED next to the button will light.

20 CLEANING THE DETERGENT COMPARTMENT Pull out the detergent compartment as far as it goes. Then pull upwards and outwards as illustrated. Flush and brush the detergent compartment. Put the detergent compartment back in. NOTE Do not wash the detergent compartment in a dishwasher .
21 2 1 CLEANING HOLES UNDER THE RIDGES If you suspect that objects, eg, nails, paperclips, pins and so on, have fallen through the washing drum you should check the space underneath the ridges. Such items can corrode and cause rust stains on your washing.
