Installation 7 3.0 I NST ALLATION 3.1 Prep aration The Liebert PSI XR may be installe d in either a tower or rack conf iguration. Determine the method that suits the applica tion and proceed. Decide where to install the Liebert PSI X R. The UPS must be installed indoor s in a controlled envi- ronment.

Installation 10 3.4 Orient Display for Inst allation The Liebert PSI XR features a rotating display that may be oriented fo r either tower or rack ins talla- tions. To set the display for your installation, pull out on the di splay and rotate it until it i s oriented cor- rectly, then press it i nto the UPS until it is seated.
Installation 11 3.6 Connect Network Surge protection Connect a 10 base-T/100 network cable to the RJ-45 network surge protection IN jack on the rear of the UPS. Connect from the OUT jack w ith network cabling to network equipment (see Figure 11 ). Figure 1 1 Connect network surge prot ection 3.
Installation 12 3.8 EPO Switch The Liebert PSI XR is equipped with an Emergency Powe r Off (EPO) switch. The user must supply a means of interfacing with the EPO circuit to allo w disconnecting the UP.

Operational Modes 17 5.0 O PERATIONAL M ODES 5.1 Normal Mode When the UPS is in Normal Mode, the No rmal Mode Indicato r illumina tes green. 5.2 Buck/Boost Mode The Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR ) circuitry compensates for fluctu ations in utility power, su ch as voltage surges and sags.
Communication 18 6.0 C OMMUNICATION 6.1 DB-9 Connector The UPS has a DB-9 (9 pin female) connector on the rear to allow UPS statu s communications with a computer running Liebert MultiLi nk shutdown soft ware. The connection prov ides serial communica- tion, On Battery and Low Battery signals.
Communication 19 6.3 RJ-45 Dat a Line Protection Connectors Data line (in and out) connectors on the rear o f the UPS provide transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) for network devices. 6.4 UPS Communications The Liebert PSI XR is equipped with a Liebert IntelliSlot ® port to provide advanced communication and monitoring options.
