Proper paper loading preven ts jams a nd f a cilitates trouble- free pr i nting. 1 Pull the tra y c o m p l ete ly ou t. Do n ot remo ve trays w hile a j ob prints or when the Bus y light sequence appears on the printer control panel. Doing so ma y cause a ja m.
If yo u are loading a longer size of pap er like A4 or leg al, squeeze the l ength guide t abs an d sl id e the length gu ide back war ds to the p osi tio n for th e l eng th of p ape r you are l o a ding .

3 Inse r t the tr ay. Usi ng t he m an ual f eed er The manu al feeder is located in side the manual feeder door of th e printer and can feed only one she et of paper at a time. You can us e the ma nu a l feeder to quick ly prin t o n paper types or sizes tha t are not c urrently loaded i n the tray .
2 When t he light is lit, load the paper faceup into the ce nter of the manual feeder . Not e s : • Load letterhea d faceup, with the top of the sh eet en ter ing first. • Load en velopes with t he fla p si de dow n and with t he st amp area as s hown .
To open the paper stop, pull it so it flips forward. Not es: • Do not leave th e pa per stop in the open position if yo u are prin ting on transpa rencies. Doing s o may cause creases in the tr ansparen cies. • When mov ing the prin ter to a noth er locat ion, mak e sur e the pa per stop is closed .

Cu rl Cur l is the ten dency for pa per to curl at its edges. Exce ssive cu rl can cause p aper feedi ng probl ems. Cur l can occur after the pa per passes throug h the pr inter, w here it is ex posed t o high temp eratur es.
Select ing pape r Using appropr iate paper prevents jams and helps en sure tro uble-free pr inting. To help av oid jam s an d poor print qua lity: • Always use ne w, un damaged paper. • Befor e l oading paper, k now the re comme nded print s ide o f the paper.
