4 Unpack the printer Step 1: Unpac k the printer Getting ready for setup Sele ct a well ventilated l ocation for your pri nter that provi des room for the trays, cov er , and door s. Choose a f irm , lev el surface a wa y from direct airflow and temperature extreme s .
5 Unpack the printer CA UTION: The pri nter weighs 30. 4 kg (67 lb) , and requires at least two peop le to lift it safely . Remov e al l items f rom the box.

11 P osition the op tional drawer Step 3: P osition the optional dra wer CA UTION: If you are adding a n optional draw er sometime after settin g up the pr inter , be sure to tur n the pri nter off, unplug the pow er cord, an d disconnec t all cables from the back of the pr inter be f ore co mpleting these tasks.
12 Prepare t he pr inter Step 4: Prepare the printer P ositio ning the printer Once you have selecte d a locat ion and positio ned an opti onal drawer (if you hav e one), you are r eady to po sition t he pri nter . 13 Prepare t he pr inter Securing the drawer to the prin ter If you hav e an option al drawer , sec ure it to the p rinter. 1 Align on e brack et with the hole on the r ight side of the pr inter as shown. Press the brack et flat again st the pr inter , and the n tighten th e thumbscrew .

18 Set up the optional duplex unit 3 Inser t the botto m of the duplex unit into the l ower opening as shown. 4 Pull up on the top of the d uple x unit as you s wing i t up ov er the top of the pr inter , and then pre ss it down so that i t locks fully into the upper opening.
19 Set up the optional duplex unit 6 Pull the two green thumbs crews out to extend them. 7 Push each green thu mbscrew gently toward the printer a s you tur n it c loc kwise to tight en it ful ly . If necessar y , use a flathead screwdriver to tighte n the screws.
20 Set up the optional duplex unit 9 Hook the bracket into the slot, an d then tur n the mounting scr e w clockwise to tigh ten. 10 Plug in the duplex connecto r as shown.

Note: The length and width g uides in an option al 530-she et tra y are sha ped differently than the guides i n the standa rd tra y , but the func tion is the same.
30 Load paper 3 Squeeze the tabs at the sides of the length guide toge ther as shown. Slide the guide to the correct pos iti on f or the size of paper you are l oading, ac cording to the s ize indicators o n the bot tom front of th e tra y . 4 Squeeze the tabs at the sides of the w idth gui de to geth er as sho wn.
31 Load paper 6 Load the s tack with the recomm ended pr int si de f ace up . Load the s tack to w ard the rear of the tray as shown. If you load l etterhead pa per , place the header f aceup at the rear of the tray as shown. F or two-sided pri nting, place the header fac edown at t he front of the tra y .
