Selecting and locking a font The printe r dat a stream may con tain c ontrol co des whic h sele ct a part icula r font. If you have already set your Top ‑ Of ‑ Form and now want to change the Tear Off position, follow these steps: 1 Press Star t/Stop to take th e printe r offline. 2 Press an d hold Te ar O ff until t he printer b eeps. The lig ht blinks . 3 Open th e contro l panel cover to access layer 2.

Converting the pus h tracto r to pull tractor position 1 Make sure the p rinter is of f. 2 Make sur e paper is not l oaded in the print er. 3 Pull the fr ont c over up a nd out of the way. 4 Hold down the la tching l evers whil e you lift and pul l the tr actor unit out of the printer .
8 To slide the tractor feed er into the printer: a Hold down the latc hing lever s and gently push the tr actor f eeder into the pri nter until it sto ps.
5 Make su re the pap er se lect lever is s et to the posi tion. 6 While holdi ng down t he latc hing l evers , fit th e left a nd right locks on to the posts in the pr inter .
Understandin g Setup mod e and menu option s The printer is preset at the factory for font , pitch, form length, and other settings. These are called factory default settin gs. This chap ter d escrib es ho w to c hang e the factory default sett ings, how to set up macros , and how to set form length.

Auto LF Requir es a line f eed to occur. • On —A line feed is performed for each Carrier Ret urn (CR ) code rece ive d. • Off —A line fe ed does not occu r when a CR code is received. Note: O ff is the factor y default setting. Auto CR Requires a CR to occur.
Uni ‑ Dir Printing • On —The prin ter prin ts unidi rectio nally by lin e (i n NLQ mode) . • Off —The printer pr ints on e line and a re turn lin e of print bi directio nally. Pr oportiona l Spacing is an exceptio n; when this p itch is sel ected, t he printer s till prin ts unidirect ionally.

Cleaning th e outside o f the pri nter Clean the outside of the printer with a damp cloth a nd mild soap. Do n ot use spray or chemical cleaners anywhere on your printe r. Do not use liq uids or spray ne ar the air vents. For stubbo rn ink sta ins on the out side of the print er, use a commercia l mechanic' s hand cleaner .

Using 802.1x authentication 802.1x auth entic ation allows the p rinter to join networks that requi re authent ication befo re allowing access . Support for 802.1x requires the es tablishment of credentials for the printer, suc h as certificates . Certificates provi de a way for th e prin ter to be known t o the Auth entica tion Server (AS) .
Troubleshooting Checking an unresp onsive printer If your pr inter is not res pondin g, make sur e: • The po wer co rd is plug ged in to th e printer and a p roperly grounded elec trical o utlet. • The electrical outlet is not turned off by any switch or breaker.
