3 NetBotz Applianc e User’s Guide SSL Support By default, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enable d on your NetBotz appliance. All browser/appliance interaction can be carried out using SSL by connect ing to the appliance u sing a URL beginning with https (for example, https:// IP_addr ess ).
4 NetBotz Applianc e User’s Guide W eb Client: Getting S t arted The NetBotz W eb Client provides a real-time overview of alerts and device details for a NetBotz appliance running at least version 4.2. It does no t require the Advanced V iew application and Java Runtime Environmen t.

8 NetBotz Applianc e User’s Guide A le rts ta b The Alerts tab allows you to view the al erts reported by the sensor or camera pod you select, and the severity you select, All by default. • Pod : Allows you to select the alerts you want to view by pod type and severity , and choose whether to include resolved alerts.
9 NetBotz Applianc e User’s Guide Depending on the pod type selected, one or more of the following options are available: • Settings : Allows you to change the pod label. • External Sensor Ports : Allows you to select the sensor type, and change the port label.

12 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Adding Appliances Before using Advanced V iew to manage an applianc e, you must first add the appliance IP address or hostname to the Appliance list. T o add an appliance to the Appliance list: 1. Click Add Appliance .

21 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide V iewing Live Video Click the Camera Vi e w button in the Action/Info rmation pane to view liv e video captured b y the appliance, cameras connected to the appliance, or shared IP cameras on your network. Controls are applied to the top-most ca mera image.
22 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Pelco PTZ camera controls The Update button provides access to the Add/Update Pr esets display , used to specify or modify a name for preset camera positions, and configure a tour using those camera positions, for the selected Pelco PTZ camera.

25 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Recording Camera Images Use Advanced V iew to record camera images and save them to a user-specified directory . By default, recorded camera images are saved to a subdirectory with the same name as the camera pod, located within a directory named camera in your Ho me directory .
26 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide If additional alert-specific data such as graphs, maps, or captured images is ava ilable, it appears on the Alert Details view as entries in additional tabs.
27 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Creating and editing map s T o create a new map for use in the Map V iew or to edit a map: 1. Click the Maps V iew button in the Action/Information pane. 2. T o create a new map, click Add . T o edit a map, select the map from the Maps drop-down list and click Edit .
28 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide V iewing Historical Dat a The History V iew lets you view and export histo ric al data from one or more sensors. Y o u ca n specify which pods and sensors to include, as well as the range of time for which data will be retrieved.
29 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Event Log The event log records System and Rack Access System events in order to pr ovide an audit trail for security-related events. The Event Lo g can hold ten pages of data (w ith each page limited to 64K of data).
30 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Advanced V iew: Pod/Sensor Settings Use the icons in the Pod/Sensors Settings area of the Configuration vi ew to configure the pods and sensors connected to your appliance and configure the alert actions and policies that are used when alerts are reported by sensors.
31 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide • Send HTTP Post: Sends an HTTP post to a specified HTTP server with i nformation about the alert. The alert notification post can include imag es captured by a came ra pod, a graph, and a map of the sensor-specific data associated with the alert.

If you are editing an existing alert action, select it from Alert Action , click Edit, and proceed to step 4 .

Note: Disabling alert notifications prevents your appliance from automatically notifying you of conditions that may be hazard ous to your critical assets and sp aces.

Note: Enabling the flicker filter can impact the number of frames per second at which imag es are captured and displayed, typically noticeable only at image capture rates more than 5 per second.

45 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Scanners gather the following info rmation about the network interfaces of all configured SNMP targets in individual sensor sets: • Admin S tatus: State sensor that reports the admin status of the interface. • IF Description: Displays the interface description value (does not support threshold configuration).

70 NetBotz Appliance User’s Guide Thresholds. All sensors have a default threshold that is generated automatically by Advanced V iew . This threshold provides the typical threshold for the specific sensor type. Thresholds can be customized. Sensor thresholds are ex plained in detail in “Ad vanced V iew: Defining Thresh olds” on page 107.
