4 QUICK SET-UP GUIDE Hint: Use good quality Alkaline Batteri es and avoid rechargeable batteries. 1. Have the indoor weather station and remote thermo/hygro sen sor 3 to 5 apart. 2. Batteri es should be out of bot h units for 1 0 m i nut es. 3. Place the batteries into the remote t hermo/hygro sens or first then into the indo or weath er station.
5 DETAILED SET-UP GUIDE I. Battery Installation Batteries will fit tightly. To avo id start-up problems, make sure that the batteries do not spring free. Also be sure to insert alkaline batteries into the remote thermo/hygro sensor first, then the indoor weather station .
6 II. Start Up Sequence A. Initial Start 1. Immediately after the batteries have been installed , the indoor weather station will sound a “b eep”, and the LCD will co mp letely light u p for a b rief m oment. 2. All information will then appear in normal mode, with “12:00 ” as the default time and “1.
7 5. Once the time and date are set, th e indo or weather station will conduct a search every night at midnight and c orrect to the accurate time and date (Daylight Savi ng Ti me is automatic). If the signal has been received in the past 24 hours, the reception indicator will be displayed .
8 IV. Function Key Layout A. The below pi ct ure shows the eight functi o n keys used in program ming and operatio n of you r indoor weather station V. Program Mode The progra m mode is laid out in a manne r that al lows you t o program each function sepa rately, or you can fo llow the instructions entirely to p rogram the indoor weather cen ter.
9 B. Time, 12/24 Hour Mode and Date Setting The WWVB signal will override an y man ual set time and date inform ation. The time will be based on th e time zone selected. 1. Press and hold the “SET” button for 1 sec ond. 2. The hour is now flashing.
10 C. City Loca tion Setting The list of the cities available is listed a fter this section . 1. Press and hold the “ SET” button for 1 seco nd. 2. Press and release the “ SET” button 6 times. 3. The country location will flash (USA default/factory setting).
11 D. City Location Listing The following list of city locations is en tered in the database. Due the limited memory, 245 cities a re listed. Every attempt has been made to provide a l ocation cl ose to all p arts of North America.

15 F. Weather measurement uni ts ( ° F/ ° C, inHg/h Pa) 1. Press and hold the “SET” button for 1 sec ond. 2. Press and release the “SET” button 11 times. 3. The selected temperature units will now flash ( ° F default/factory setting). 4. Press and release the “+” or “–“ butto n to select ° F (Fahrenheit) or ° C (Celsius).
16 16. Press a nd release the “+” or “–“ button to select the storm w a rn ing setting. T his can be set to 0.09 , 0.12, 0.1 5, 0.18 , 0.21, 0.24, or 0 .27 inHg (from 3 to 9 hPa). This setting will determine how much of a drop in air pressure over six ho urs will sound the storm warning alarm.

Sunrise/set and Moonrise/set Calcul ation The indoor weathe r sta tion will calculate the sun r ise/set mo onrise/set each day based on the loc ation ent ered throu gh the progr amming m ode. To view another loc ation and/ o r dat e wi t hout affecting the pr o grammed city location and date, fo llow section A.

19 B. Moon Phase 1. There are 12 moon phases shown on the indoo r w eather station; the black portion sig nifies the portion of the m oon visible i n the sky. Thus, when the m oon ico n is all bl ack, it is a f ull moon. The indoor weat her stati on is prog rammed wit h all moon phases from the year 2000 until 209 9.
20 2. Outdoor Mini mum and Maximum Temperature and Humidity The indoor weather station a utoma tic al l y s to re s th e min imu m a nd maxim um outdoor te mperature an d humidi ty. The mi nimum and maxim um values are u pdated aut omati cally when a ne w minim um or maximum is recorded, or until manually reset.

To view the temperature of a diffe rent remote sensor press and release the “CHANNEL” b utton. A s hift from one “box ed” number to t he next sh ould be o bserved i n the OUTDOOR LCD.
22 g. Press and release the “SET” key to return to the nor mal display mode (or the disp lay will timeout after fifteen seconds and return to the normal m ode automatically). 3. Canceling the Temperature Alarm While Sounding a. While the alarm is sounding , pres s any key to mute the alarm .

25 7. Air pressure trend s can be determ ined by sim ply glancing at the bar graph. a. If the bars are rising (hi gher on the ri ght than the left) then the air pressure has a risi ng trend, and the weather should improve.
26 VII. MOUNTING Note: Before perma nently mo unting, en sure that t he indoor weather stat ion is able to receive signals from the sens ors and WWVB si gnal at the desired location. To achieve a true temperatur e re ading, avoid mounting t he remote thermo /hygro senso r (or an y sensor ) wher e direct sunlight can reach the remote sensor.
27 2. Mounting with Adhesive Tape a. With a nonabrasive solution, cl ean and dry the back of the mounting bracket and t he mounti ng surface to ensure a sec ure hold. The m ounting surface sh ould be smooth and flat. b. Rem ove the protect ive strip f rom one si de of the tape .
28 Maintenance and Care Instructions A. Extrem e temperature s, vibrati on, and shoc k shoul d be avoided to preven t damage to th e units. B. Clean disp lays and units w ith a soft, damp cloth. Do not use sol vents or scouring agents; they may mark th e displays and casings.
29 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem: The LCD is fai nt. Solution: 1) Set the LCD con trast to a higher level. 2) Replace batteries. Problem: No outdoor temperature/hu midity is displayed. Solution: 1) Remove all b atteries, reinsert into the remote thermo/hygro sensor first, then into the indoor weather station.
