8 Get Started Phone Battery Install the Battery T o install the ba ttery: 1. Hold the phone face down. 2. Find the notch directly below the back cover . It is square. Using your thumbnail, pry the cover up from the bottom to rem ove. 3. Place the battery in the battery casing with the metal contacts facing toward the top of the phone.
9 Battery Safety Guidelines • Do not disassemble or open the battery . • Do not crush, bend, deform, puncture, or shred the battery . • Do not attempt to insert foreign obj ects into the battery . • Do not immerse the battery or expose it to water or other liquids.
10 Phone Ove rview Get to Know Y o ur Phone 1. Home screen. 2. Vo l u m e key raise s or lowers ri nger volum e. 3. Left softkey sel ects items that appear on the lower left of the display . At the home screen, you can selec t Settings . 4. Speaker phone key activates the speakerphone and answers incoming calls.

12 Main Menu Press the OK key when the phone is in idle state to access the main menu. Idle St ate > Level 1 > Level 2 Menu Recent Calls Access th ese options: All , In comi ng , Out going , Missed , Eras e Cal l List , Call T imer , Lifetime , and Kilobyte C ounter .
13 Guide Conventions In this guide, the follow i ng conventions are used when describing phone features. Select means to press the Left soft key , Right softkey or OK key to select an item seen on the display . For example, “Select Menu ” tells you to physically press the left softkey to choose Menu from the dis play .
14 Call Features This section describes basics phone features related to cal ls. Power Phone Up • T o turn your phone on, press the End key and wait until the phone displa y lights up. • T o turn your phone off, press and hold the End key until the phone plays a musical chime and turns off.
15 Vo l u m e C o n t r o l Adjust V olume during a Call Press the Vo l u m e key up or down to adjust the earpiece volume during a call. Use the Speakerphone Y our phone has a built-in speakerphone. • T o turn on the spea kerphone, press the Speakerphone key .
16 T ext Entry Y ou can enter letters, numbers, and symbols in contacts, text message s, and your banner . T ext Entry Modes The text entry scree n has the following features: 1. Characters remaining that you can type. Allowed length of messages can vary depending on your service.
17 Rapid Entry with Number Keypad At a text entry field, select Options > Rapid to check words you are tr ying to spell against a dictionary of common words. Y ou can enter text in the foll owing ways: • T o enter words, pres s a key once. For example, to enter the word “any” press the 2 > 6 > 9 keys.
18 T ext Entry Quick Re ference This table gives instructions for ente ring letters, num bers, and symbols. T o.. Do this.. Enter a letter Use Abc mode and pres s a key un til you see the le tter your want. Enter a number Use 123 mode and pres s a key .
19 Recent Calls Recent Calls Menu Select Recent Calls fr om the main menu to ac cess the followi ng functions : Level 1 > Level 2 > Level 3 Recent Calls All See a lis t all voice calls. Incoming See a lis t all voice calls you have rece ived. Outgoing See a list all voice calls you have made.
20 W ork with Ca ll Lists Callback Any Call 1. From All , highlight a number . 2. Press the Send key to call the number or select Options to acce ss more features. This list contains all calls made and received. Callback an Incoming Call 1. From Incom ing , highlight a number .
21 Erase Call List Records Erase a Single Record 1. At a call list, hig hlight a contact. 2. Select Options > Erase Record > Ye s . Erase a Call List From Eras e C all Li st , select a c all list to erase records from . For example to erase all records from the incoming call list, select Incoming > Ye s .
22 Messaging Use Mess agin g to send, receive, and erase messages from your phone. Note: The functions available may vary depending on the services provided.
23 Send Messages Create a T ext Message Y ou can only send text messages to phone numbers capable of receiving them or to email addresses if supported. 1. From New T ext Msg , enter a recipient’ s phone number or email address. (Select Options to access c ontacts, groups or recently used addresses.
24 Save Recipie nts as Contacts 1. At the compose m essage screen, select Options > Add to Contacts when entering a phone number or email address. 2. Select a number or address. 3. Select Options > Save New Contact (to create a new contact) or Options > Add to Contact (to add the number or address to an existing contact).
25 Set Individual Message Settings The following describes how to set message settings for individual m essages. Note: Y our selection of each of the following message settings overrides that selected for all messages from Msg Settings . Request a Me ssage Receipt 1.
26 – Scroll up or down to change the hour , minute, and AM/PM. 4. Select Next . 5. Press the OK key to change the date. – Scroll left or right to m ove between the month, day , and year . – Scroll up or down to change the month, day , and year .
27 Handle Received Messages Reply to T ext Messages When receiving a me ssage, your phone displays a notification and the me ssage icon appears at the top of your screen. The message icon flashes with an urgent message alert if the me ssage is urgent.
28 Go to Web Addresses in Messages When viewing a receiv ed message, select Options > Launch Browser to go to a web address included in the message.
29 Check Message Status in Outbox Use the following symbols to check Outbox for the status of messages sent but still in process. Unable to Send Messages Y ou may not be able to send or receive messages if your phone’ s memory is nearly full, or if digital service is not available at the time.
30 Set Page Alerts 1. From Alerts , select Page Alert . 2. Select an alert for pages. If you select an & Remind alert, the phone notifies you once when receiving a new message and notifies you again every five minutes. T o stop a reminder alert, selec t Ignore .

33 4. Select contact s from the list provided. A checkmark appears next to each contact in the group. Press the OK key to add or remove checkmarks. 5. When finished, select Done . Assign Pictures to Message Groups 1. From Message Groups , highlight a group.
34 Contacts Use your phone’ s contacts list to store information about a person or company . From Vi e w A l l , enter the first letter of your desired contact and scroll through to highlight it.
35 Use Frequent List With Frequent List enabled, you c an view 15 of your most frequently calle d contacts. See “Enable Frequent List” on page 54. Use Fast Find With Fast Find enabled, you can press one or two keys to view close matches of the contact.

38 Erase All Contacts From Delete Al l , select Contacts Only > Ye s > Ye s to erase all your contacts. Note: Y ou cannot recover deleted information. Erase All Contacts and Groups From Delete Al l , select Delete All > Ye s > Ye s to erase all your contacts and groups.

43 Browser Y ou can use your phone to browse the Internet if you have obtained phone In ternet services from your service provider and if over -the-air Internet access is available in your area. Launch Browser Select Brows er to launch the browser . An alert appears notifying of airtim e fees, if you have enabled web alerts.

BREW brings you the full range of applications and services you have come to expect from the Internet: Email and instant messaging, real-time navigation services, group chat, games, relevant news, a nd much more.

Select Save . If you receive an incomi ng call while recording a memo, the memo is save d and the incoming call screen appears.

52 Convenience Use Convenience to make your phone more convenient to use. Set Date and Time In Airplane mode, you can set the time and date manually . Note: Y ou can only access Set T ime/Dat e with Airplane Mode enabled.
53 Enable Auto -H yphenati on Auto-hyphenation, when enabled, automatically inserts hyphens into your phone numbers to be consistent with the U.S. dialing plan (or the North American Numbering Plan). From Auto-Hyphen , select Enabled to tu rn on auto-hyphenation.

57 Set Speakerphone V olume 1. From Vo l u m e , select Spkrphone V olume . 2. Scroll right or l eft to set the speakerphone volume. 3. Press the OK key to save. Set Earpiece V olume 1. From Vo l u m e , select Earpiece Vo lume . 2. Scroll right or lef t to set the earpiece volume.
58 Connect to TTY Device Y ou can connect the phone to a teletype (TTY) device for the hearing impaired. Note: Enable TTY only when using the phone with a TTY device. 1. Connect the TTY device to your phone. 2. From TTY Device , select OK to clear the notification.
59 Set Location Information Use Location to share your location information with network servic es other than emergency services (for example, 911, 111, 999 and 000) in serviced areas. This fe ature works only when your phone is in digital mode. Y ou do have the option of turning off the loca tor to emergency services.
60 Set Limit Calls Y ou can limit the calls that can be made from your phone to emergency numbers, your contacts, and your service pro vider’ s numbers. 1. From Security , enter your four -digit lock code. 2. Select Limit Calls and one of the following: –N o L i m i t does not limit calls.
