Process ECP-2 E Specifications 9-1 9 PROCESS ECP-2E SPECIFICATIONS This module contains specifications describing contin uous machine processing of Koda k color pr int film s. The following modul es are also used in conjunction with Process ECP-2E. Pro cess EC P- 2E differ s from Process ECP-2D in that there is no first fix or sound applicatio n.
9-2 Process ECP-2E Specifications Process ECP-2E Steps Table 9-1 Persulfate Bleac h Sequence If a customer wishes to retain the firs t fix and the first fix wash from Process ECP-2D, th e sound application m ay still be sk ipped by threading the film dir ectly from the bleach wash into the second fix.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-3 PROCESSING MACH INE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION Machine Design The films intended for Process ECP-2E are processed in roll form in a continuous processi ng m achine. Film is transported through the various solution tanks, emul sion side out, on a series of spools.

9-8 Process ECP-2E Specifications Filters Filters are used to remove any insoluble material in the for m of solids and tars from processing soluti ons and wash waters. If this material is no t removed, it can adhere t o the film being processed, machine tank walls, rollers, lines, etc.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-9 Machine Exhaust and Room Ventilation Systems Install local exhausts at specifi c locations on the processing machine and at specific work ar eas to provide for the safety and comfort of the laboratory personnel. Supplement local exhausts with a room ventilation system having a capacity of 10 air changes per hour.

Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-19 Solution Mixing 1. Use the f ollowing mixing pr act ices when preparing processing solution s with common mixing equi pment. Mix solutions in the order in which the solutions occur in the process sequence. This order will minimiz e mixing time and o xidation, wh ile provid i ng consistent re sul ts.
9-20 Process ECP-2E Specifications Formulas and Analytical Specifica tions Maintain the fresh tank formula specifications exactly as given on the following pages. Any large deviat ion s from tank specifications, noted by chemical analysis , should be corrected im mediately by appropriate addit ions or cuts to the tank soluti on.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-21 Alternate Developer To process VISION Premier Color Print Film, the no rmal replenis her flow rate must be increased by 8% . If the footage processed is less than one ta nk turnover, no change of pH is required in the replenis her, but small adjustment could be necessa ry in the tank processor.
9-22 Process ECP-2E Specifications Accelerator To process VISION Premier Color Print Film, the accel erator replenisher flow rate may need to be increased. If only a small amount of footage is processed no change in the flow rate should be requir ed in the r ep leni sh er.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-23 Alternate Process Bleaches Note: • It is especially important to follow the Good mixi ng pract ices: when preparing this bleach. • Follow exactly the mix order given above. • Check the solution pH before starting the ferric nitrate a ddition.
9-24 Process ECP-2E Specifications Note: See Chemical Supplies a nd Substitutions for calculations regarding raw chemical concentrations and alternatives. • It is especially important to follow the Good mixi ng practi ces: when preparing this bleach.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-25 Fixer To be used with persulfate bleach (may al so be used with alternate process bleaches) To process a large quantity (more th an one tank turnover) of VISION P remier Color Print Film, the normal replenishment flow rate of the fix ma y need to be increased by up to 30%.
9-26 Process ECP-2E Specifications Alternate Process Fixer The Sodium Fixer is recommended as an alte rnate fixer for use only with a persulfate bleach.
Process ECP-2E Specifications 9-27 Storage of Solutions Do not use replenishe rs that ha ve been stored at normal room temperatures 21 to 24°C (70 to 75°F), lo nger than the times giv en in T able 9-9 . Storage t emperatures hi gher than 24°C (75°F) will decrease the stora ge lif e of the solutions .
