2 ENA 5 These safeguards apply for machine s with UL safety test (see r ating plate and chapter 8, ‘T echnical data’). When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should alwa ys be follow ed, to reduce the risk of fire , electric shock, and/or injury to per sons, including the follo wing: Z Read all instructions.
3 ENA 5 a. A short power supply cord is provided to reduc e the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a long c ord. Y our ENA has a 3-pin grounded plug. b. Longer extension cords are available and ma y be used if care is exercised in their use .
4 ENA 5 Z Never fill instant coff ee, c hocolate mix etc. into the grinder or ground coffee funnel (grinder b y-pass). It will damage the functioning of the brewing chamber . Z Never fill sugar c oated coffee beans int o the bean hopper . In case of doubt, call your dealer .

10 ENA 5 Proper use The machine has been designed and built for domestic use. It should only be used to prepare coffee and to heat milk and w ater . Use for any other purpose will be deemed improper . JURA Elektroapparat e AG cannot acc ept any responsibility for the consequences of improper use.

12 ENA 5 Z Hot wat er nozzle 3-colour plain text display Y our ENA features a 3-colour plain text display . The colours of the display texts have the following meanings: Z Green: Y our ENA is ready for use. Z Red: The ENA is prompting y ou to perform an action.
13 ENA 5 g T T urn the Rotary Switch until LANGUAGE ENGL I SH is display ed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to c onfirm the language setting. OK , the language is then adjusted. O PEN TAP T Place a receptacle under the nozzle. l T T urn the switch to position m .
14 ENA 5 k T Press the Rotary Switch. O PEN TAP l T T urn the switch to position m . F I L TER R I NS I NG , water is dis- charged from the nozzle . E Rinsing of the filter can be interrupted at any time . T o this purpose turn the switch clockwise. E The wat er may be slightly discoloured.
15 ENA 5 U If the fineness of grind setting is too fine , the coffee only drips from the c offee spout. Z Select a coarse setting for a darker roast. U If the fineness of grind is too coarse the coffee flow s too quickly from the coffee spout. Example : Adjusting the fineness of grind during coffee prepar ation.
16 ENA 5 2 Preparation 1 coffee at the touc h of a button Precondition : READ Y appears on the display . T T urn the coffee spout to the 1 c up position. T Place the cup under the coffee spout. k T Press the Rotary Switch to start coffee preparation. During grinding the strength of the coffee is briefly display ed.
17 ENA 5 1 C UP , the pre -set amount of water flo ws into the cup, prepar ation stops aut omati- cally . READY E It is also possible to prepare two cups of pre-ground coffee. T o this purpose place two level measuring spoons of pre-ground coffee into the filler funnel.
18 ENA 5 T Place a cup under the nozzle. T Set the selec tor lever of the no zzle to the milk foam p position. g T T urn the Rotary Switch until STEAM is display ed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. HEA T I NG READY appear s as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated.
19 ENA 5 Cappuccino with the 2-stage frothing nozzle Precondition : READ Y appears on the display and the coffee spout is set at the 1 cup position. T Push the 2-stage frothing nozzle to the lower po sition. T Place a cup of milk below the 2-stage frothing nozzle and immerse the nozzle in the milk.
20 ENA 5 Heating milk with the 2-stage frothing nozzle Precondition : READ Y appears on the display . T Push the 2-stage frothing nozzle to the top position. T Place a cup of milk below the 2-stage frothing nozzle and immerse the nozzle in the milk. E If the nozzle does not reach int o the cup, lift the cup tow ards the nozzle .
21 ENA 5 Precondition : READ Y appears on the display . T O pen the cov er behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until R I NSE appears. g T T urn the Rotary Switch until PRO DUCT is display ed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item.
22 ENA 5 g T T urn the Rotary Switch until 2 H R S is display ed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to c onfirm the setting. OK , the automatic switch-off time is then adjusted. O FF A FTER g T T urn the Rotary Switch until EX I T is display ed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit progr am- ming mode.
23 ENA 5 Z Rinse the nozzle regularly if it is used to w arm or froth milk. Rinsing the machine – manually When the ENA is switched on, a prompt to perform a rinse operation automatically appears after heating. When the ENA is switched off, the system is automatically rinsed if a coffee spec iality has been prepared.
24 ENA 5 Rinsing of the filter stops automatically , CLOSE TAP . y T T urn the switch to position o . HEA T I NG READY Changing the filter – manually The ‘Change filter’ oper ation can be manually initiated. Precondition : READY appear s on the display .
25 ENA 5 T T urn the coffee spout to the 1 c up or 2 cup position. Cleaning the machine – manually The ‘Clean machine ’ operation can be manually initiated. Precondition : READY appear s on the display . T O pen the cov er behind the Rotary Switch.
26 ENA 5 T Place a receptacle (500 ml min.) under the the Connector System © . l T T urn the switch to position m . DE - SCAL I NG , water flo ws out of the Connector System © sever al times. CLOSE TAP y T T urn the switch to position o . DE - SCAL I NG , the descaling operation is continued.
27 ENA 5 Cleaning the Professional Cappuccino F rother T o ensure that the Professional Cappuccino F rother works perfectly, y ou should clean it daily when you hav e been preparing milk. CAUTION If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be damaged and/or detergent residues could be left in the water .
28 ENA 5 E The ENA will not prompt you t o rinse the Easy Cappuccino F rother . T Remove the milk pipe from the milk carton or milk container . T Fill a recept acle with fresh w ater and immerse the milk pipe in the water . T Place another receptacle under the nozzle.
29 ENA 5 Dismantling and rinsing the Easy Cappuccino F rother T Carefully remove the Easy Cappuccino F rother from the Connector System © . T Dismantle the nozzle completely . T Rinse all nozzle par ts thoroughly with running wat er . T Reassemble the Easy Cappuccino F rother and attach it to the Connector System © .
