Y ou will also find interesting and up-to -date information on y our JURA and on every aspect of coffee.
11 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Y ou will then be able to read the degree of wat er hardness from the discolour ation of the Aquadur® test strip and the description on the packaging. When using the machine for the first time, y ou can choose whether you w ant to operate JURA with or without the CLARIS Smart filter cartridge.
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time E Now decide whether y ou want to operat e your JURA with or without a CLARIS Smart filter car tridge. Operation with filter car tridge: go str aight to the next sec tion (see Chapter 1 ‘Preparing and using for the first time – First -time use with filter cartridge ac tivation ’).
13 1 Preparing and using for the first time T T urn the switch to the ° position. ‘Filter rinsing complete ’ ‘System is filling’ , the system fills up with wa ter . ‘Empty drip tray’ T Empty the drip tray and c offee grounds container and put them back into the machine .
14 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y our JURA creates fine, creamy , feather-light milk f oam with a per- fect consistency . The most impor tant requirement for frothing milk is a milk temper ature of 4– 8 °C. We would therefore rec ommend using a milk cooler or a vac uum milk cont ainer .
15 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E Y ou can stop the machine at an y time while a specialit y coffee , steam or hot wa ter is being prep ared. Just press any button (for a speciality coffee) or return the switch t o it s original posi- tion (for steam and hot w ater).
16 2 Preparation T o prepare two specialit y coffees, press the appropriate prepar ation button twice (within approximately 1 sec ond). Example : Proceed as follows to pr epare two espressi. Precondition: The start screen is displayed. T Place two cups under the coffee spout.
17 2 Preparation Precondition: The start screen is displayed. T Place a cup under the fine foam frother . T Press the ‘Milk foam ’ button. ‘Milk foam ’ As soon as the machine has heated up, ‘S witch open’ appears. T T urn the switch to the x position.
18 2 Preparation Y ou can adjust the grinder on a continuous scale to suit the degree of roast of your coff ee. If you adjust the consist enc y of grind when the grinder is not oper - ating, the grinder adjustment switch could be damaged. T Only adjust the consistency of grind when the grinder is run- ning.
19 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation Daily maintenance of the mac hine and hygiene when handling milk, coffee and w ater are key t o a per fect coffee result in the cup every time. Y ou should therefore change the w ater daily . Milk, sparkling mineral w ater or other liquids can damage the water tank or the machine.
20 3 Daily operation T Refit the coffee grounds c ont ainer and the drip tra y. T Rinse the water tank with clean w ater . T Clean the fine fo am frother (see Chapter 5 ‘Maintenance – Cleaning the fine foam frother’). T Remov e the milk pipe and rinse it thoroughly under running wat er.
21 3 Daily operation If milk has been prepared but you hav e not star ted milk system cleaning, the milk system is rinsed first ( ‘Milk system is being rinsed’ ). ‘Machine is rinsing’ , the system rinses itself . The operation stops automatically .
22 4 Permanent settings in programming mode 4 Permanent settings in progr amming mode Press the ‘ P ’ button to enter programming mode . Y o u can navigate through the programme it ems and permanently save the required settings using the multi-function buttons.

27 5 Maintenance T Place a receptacle under the fine foam frother . T Press the ‘ c ’ button (red Maintenance symbol). ‘Switc h open’ T T urn the switch to the x position. ‘Milk system is being rinsed’ appears and the fine foam frother is rinsed.
28 5 Maintenance T T urn the switch to the ° position. ‘Clean the milk system ’ T Rinse the receptacle thoroughly , fill it with 250 ml of fresh wat er and immer se the milk pipe in the water . T Empty the other receptacle and place it under the fine foam frother once more .

32 5 Maintenance If the wrong descaling agent is used, the machine could be dam- aged and/or trac es could be lef t behind in the water . T Use only original JURA maintenance products. If the descaling operation is int errupted, there may be damage to the machine .
33 5 Maintenance T T urn the switch to the ° position. ‘Machine is being descaled’ , the descaling oper ation is continued. The operation is int errupted, ‘Empty drip tray’ . T Empty the drip tray and c offee grounds container and put them back into the machine .
34 5 Maintenance Limescale deposits may form in the wa ter t ank. T o ensure correct function of the machine, descale the w ater tank from time to time. T Remov e the water tank. T If you use a CLARIS Smart filter car tridge, remo ve this. T Completely fill the water tank and dissolve 3 JURA descaling tablet s in it.
