8 Co vering the Fireplace Opening T wo cast iron surround styles ar e available f or the GI 425 Camden fireplace insert . Standard Classic Surround The GI425 Camden includes Surround P anels that will overlap a maximum fireplace opening 39” Wide x 29 1/2” High.

10 Masonry Fir eplace Installation When installing a GI425 DV Camden gas insert into a masonry fireplace the insert will be vented through dual 3” flexible gas aluminum liners. This co-linear installation includes a pair of 3” flex ducts that run from the insert completely through the e xisting chimney to the termination cap.
11 V enting through a Masonry Fireplace 1. Measure height of the chimney to fireplace opening. Determine if both the intak e and exhaust will be extended to the top of the chim- ney . 2. Use tin snips to cut the appropriate lengths of flex for both the intake and exhaust.
12 Prefabricated Fireplace Installation A fa ctory-built pref abricated fireplace will r equire a few modifications bef ore installa tion of the Jøtul GI425 Camden fireplace insert . Modification Steps: 1. Remo ve any fuel gra te or other components attached attached to the firebo x .
13 V enting Installa tion Thr ough a Pref abricated Fireplace 1. Measure height of the chimne y to fireplace opening. Determine if both the intake and exhaust will be extended to the top of the chimney . 2. Cut the appropriate lengths of fle x for both the intak e and exhaust .

18 W all Thermostat Installation Use Jøtul Thermostat #129706 or a 750 millivolt DC two-wire circuit thermostat to automatically con trol your fir eplace opera tion. The thermostat should be placed in the same room as the heater , typically 5’ off the floor .

20 Logset Assembly This is the heart of your Jøtul GI 425 Camden fireplace. Much time and eff o rt has been devoted to attaining a lively , realistic flame picture while simultaneously achieving ef ficient fuel combus- tion and eff e ctive heat output under a variety of installation conditions.
21 Blower Installa tion 1. R un the 10 ft. power cord out from the fireplace to the nearest grounded power outlet . 2. W ith the Speed C ontrol in either the H I or LO W position, the fan will power on when the firebox comes up to opera ting temperatur e.

23 CLOSED OPEN Figure 26. Proper flame pattern. Air Shutter Adjustment 1. Open the Lower Grill panel and locate the Air Shutter adjustment stem extending down from the firebo x floor . See fig . 27. 2. L oosen the wingnut and pull the stem to the forwa rd to open the air inlet and allow more air into the burner .
24 Oper ation 1. Y our GI425 gas fir eplace can be operated manu- ally using the On/Of f/ T -stat rocker switch or it can be automatically con trolled using an optional wall-mounted thermosta t and/ or remote control device. A separa te switch is provided for the optional for ced air blower kit .

26 Maintenance Y our Jøtul GI425 Camden gas fir eplace and its venting system should be inspected bef ore use and at least annually by a qualified service technician. IMPORT ANT : ALWA YS TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPL Y T O THE FIREPLACE AND UNPL UG THE FORCED AIR BL OWER BEFORE ANY SER- VICE WORK IS PERFORMED ON THE FIRE- PLACE.
27 Glass Panel or Gask et Replacement 1. W rap the new gasketing material ev enly around the edge of the glass, peeling back the protective strip to expose the adhesive as y ou go. Press the adhesiv e side down onto the glass sur face. Do not stretch the gasket .
