Congratulations on your choice of a Jenn-Air range. Your range has three radiant elements with one dual radiant element. Read before operating your range All appl i ances - - regardless of the manufacturer - - have the potent i al through improper or careless use to create safety problems. There- fore the following safety precautions should be observed: 1. Be sure your appliance is properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician.
11. Glazed cookware -- only certain types of glass, glass-ceramic, c e ramic, earthenware or other glazed cookpots are suitable for rangetop surface without breaking due to the sudden change in temperatur e . Use only such cookware as you know has b e en approved for this purpose.

• Sin ce the controls a re a push-turn typ e , they must be pushed in before turning. To set (fr o m the OFF position), push in on the control knob and turn in either direction to desired setting . • Wh e n the control is in any position, oth e r than OFF, it may b e turn e d in any dir ec tion w ith o ut pushing in.
When an element is turned ON , the element will heat up and the red glow o f the heating element can be seen through th e gl a ss- ce r a mi c t o p. It is normal to s e e the red glow of the element when e ver it cycles on. The elements will cycle on and off for all control s e ttings except HI.
• Do not allow plastic objects,sugar, or foods with high sugar content to melt onto the hot cooktop. Melted mat e rials can caus e p e rmanentd a mag e to th e cooktop. If yo u accidentally melt anythingonto the cooktop or a sugary solution boils over, remove it immediately while the cooktop is still hot.
• Mak e sure b o tt o ms of c o o kp o ts ar e always clean and dry . (Soi l from the c ookpot bottom can be transferr e d to the c ooktop surfa c e.) B e for e using c ookpots o n th e glass-ceramic cooktop for the first time, and periodically as needed, clean the bott o ms with s c ouring p a ds or oth e r c leansers.
To achieve optimum cooking performance, use heavy gauge, flat, smooth bottom c ookpots that conform to the diameter of the radiant element (no more than one inch overh a ng). Proper cookpots will minimize cooking times, use less el e ctricity, cook food more evenly and require less water or oil.
• Do not use cookware that e xtends more than 1 inch beyond the edge of the element. • Do not use a small c ookpot on a large e l e m e nt. Noton l y ca n this c ause the e lem e nt to requir e more energy and time, but it can also result in spillovers burning onto the e lement which cause extra effort in cl e aning.
The co ntrol panel is designed for ease in programm i ng. The Disp l ay Window features I nd i cator Words which will flash to prompt you for the next step . To program 1. Touch the function pad to g i ve command desired. 2. Touch the appropriate number pads to enter time or temperature.

The rack positions noted are generally recommended for the best browning results and most e ffi c i e nt co oking times. • When cooking foods for the f irst time in your new oven, use recipe cooking t i mes a nd temp e r a tur es as a guid o . • Use tested recipes from reliable sources . • Preheat the oven only when necessary. For baked foods that ris e and f o r ri c her browning, a preheated oven is b e tter.

For best results , bake foods on one rack at a time as described in this manual. However , very good results can be obtained when baking quantities of foods on multiple racks .
• Preheating is not necessary. • For open pan roasting , place meat or poultry on the slotted portion of the two-piece pan includ e d with th e ov e n. D o not a dd water t o the pan. Us e open pan r oa sting for tender cuts of meat. Less tender cuts of meat need to be cooked by moist heat in a c overed pan.
Chart time is based on thawed meats only. For Conventional Roasting use the Bake Pad . *Whenusing the Convect Roast mode, there is no need to preheatthe oven or to lower the tem- peraturefromconv e nti o nal roastt e mp e ratur es . **Not recomm e nded for convectioncooking.
• Tender cuts of meat and p oultry can be roasted to a rich golden brown in the convection oven . Follow general recommendations for roasting and use Convect Roast . • Refer to convection meat roasting chart for recommended cooking temperature and time .
• U s e the C onvect Roast Pad for best results. • Preheating the oven is not necessar y . • Follow package recommendations for oven t e mp e rature , foil covering and use of c oo ki es h e ets. C o o king times will b e simil a r. See ch a rt below for s o me e x c eptions and examples.
1 . Place oven rack on the r a ck position suggested in the chart on p a ge 33. Distance from broil i ng element depends on foods being pr e pared. Rack position 40 (offset rack in position #4) i s usually recommended unless otherw i se stated. 2 . Touch Br o il P a d .
• T ender cuts of m e at or marin a ted meats are best f o r broiling. This in c ludes rib and loin cuts of steak , ground beef, ham steaks, poultry pieces or fish . For best results, steaks should be at least 1 " thick• Thinner steaks should be pan-broiled .
When the oven controls are set to CLEAN, the oven heats to temperatures that are higher than those used for cooking. The high temperatures cause food soil to burn off and substantially disappear . Whil e this occurs , a device in the oven vent he l ps to co nsume norm a l a m o unts of smoke.
• Th e o ve n r ac ks ca n be c leaned i n the ove n . How e ver,the ove n r ac ks will dis c olor, lose shininess,and become difficult to slide in and out if left in the oven during the cle a ning pro ce ss. R E MOVE RACKS FROM OVEN IF THIS DIS CO LORATION WILL BE OBJECTIONABLE.
When the clean function has been completed,the Indicator Words CLEAN and ON will go off. The Indicator Word LOCK andthe cooling fan will remain on until the oven has cooled down and the door has unlocked. To set oven to start cleaning at a later time 1 - 3.

Depending on the length of time the oven had been self-cleaning, it may take up to 45 m i n utes for the o v en to cool down, the do o r to unlock and c ooli n g fan to tur n off.
• To remo v e occasional spillovers between cleanings, use a soap-filled scouring pad or mild c le anser; rins e well . • It is better to clean the ove n reg u larly rather than wait until there is a heavy build - u p o f s oil in th e o ven .
BEFORE CLEANING , BE CERTAIN ALL ELEMENTS ARE TURNED OFF AND THE RANGE PARTS ARE COOL. C l e aning and R e moving C ontro l Knobs The k nobs o n the control panel can be removed with the controls in the OFF position . Pull each knob straight from the shaft.

To remove, pull forward to the "stop" position; lift up on the front of the rack and pull out. The oven temperature can be adjusted if all oven temperatures are too low or too high and the length of t i me to cook ALL foods is too long or too short .
