The size and type of cookware used and the amount and type of food being cooked will influence the setting needed for best cooking results. Electrical line voltage may also vary, which will affect the needed control setting+ The setting indicated should serve as a guide while you become familiar with your cooktop.
To achieve optimum cooking pe r formance, use heavy gauge, flat, smooth bottom cookpetsth a t conform to the diameterof the cookingarea. Propercookpotswill minimize cooking times, use less electricity, cook food more evenly and require less water or eil.
• Do not use cookware that extends more than 1 inch beyond the edge of the cooking area. • Do not use a small cookpot on a largeelement. Not only can this causethe element to r e quire more energy and time , but it can also result in spillovers burning onto the element which cause e xtra effort in cleaning.
The cooking areas are identified by circles on the glass-ceramic cooktop. When an element is turned ON, the cooktop will heat up and the red glow of the heating element can be seen through the glass-ceramic top. It is normal to see the red glow of the element whe n e v e rit is ON.
• Do NOT allow plastic objects, sugar , or foods with high sugar content to melt onto the hot cooktop . Meltedmaterials can c a us e permanent d a m a ge to th e cooktop. If you accidentally melt anything onto the cooktop, or a sugary solution boils ov e r, rem ov eit immediately whil e the c ookt o p is still hot .
When choosingeo o kware for the induction e l ements , consider the material , gauge, and size o f th e co okw a r e . Note: Coo kw a r e does NOT h a v e to b e fl a t for o ptimum performance on the induction elem e nts . The cookware MUST be made of a ferromagnetic material in order to work on the induction cooktop.
