1 INTR ODUCTION The InFocus ® LP70+™ is a projector specifically desig ned for portability , connectivity , and collaboratio n. It is easy to connect, easy to use, easy to transport, and easy to maintain. Image Re solu tio n The XGA r esoluti on of the pr ojected image is 1024x768.

4 Intr oduction Usag e Guidelines • Do not l ook directly into th e projection lens wh en the projector is turned on. The bright light may harm your eyes. • Do not block the grills on the projector . Restrictin g the air flow can cause it to over heat and turn off.

5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr ojector on a flat surface. • The pr ojector must be within 6 feet (1.8 m) of your power source and your computer . • If you want to project from behind a translucent screen, set up the pr ojector behind your scr een .
6 Setti ng up the Pr ojector NO TE : Before you continue , mak e sure the pr ojector and all other equipment is turned o f f. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sure the distance betw een it and the p roject or is 6 feet o r le ss .
7 NO TE: Many laptop computer s do not automatically turn on their external video port when a sec- ondar y display device such as a pro jector is co nnected. Refer to your computer manua l for the command that activates the exter- nal video por t. Connecting a Computer The pr ojector ships with an analog comput er cable.
8 Setti ng up the Pr ojector Do you want to ad vanc e sli des in P owerP oint wi th the projector ’ s rem ot e ? NO TE: The USB mous e is suppor ted for use with Windows 98 or higher only . 1 Plug the USB end of the computer cable into the mouse con- nector on your computer .
9 Connec ting a Video Pla y er If your video device (VCR, D VD player , video camera) uses a round, o ne-prong composite video connector, use the composite audio/video (A/V ) cable. • If your video device uses a ro und, four-pr ong S-video con- nector , use an S-video cable, ord ered separately .

11 P ow ering up the Proje ctor NO TE : Always use the po wer cord that shipped with the pro jector . 1 Remove the lens c ap. 2 Plug the power cord into the side of the projector, then plug it into your electrical outlet. A surg e-protected power strip is r ecommended.
12 Setti ng up the Pr ojector Uncheck any checked boxes, then clic k Next. W indows auto- matically locates th e driver . If this driver has been removed, reload the driver using your W in dows operating system CD. When W indow s finds the driver , you are ready to install it.
13 Click Finish w hen installati on is complete. 6 The computer image should display on the projection s creen. If it doesn’t, pr ess the Source/Select button on the keypad or the Computer button on the remote to display your com- puter ’s i mage.
14 Setti ng up the Pr ojector T urning Off the Projec tor T o turn off the pr ojector , pr es s the Po w e r button . A dialog box appears, askin g for confirma tion. Press Pow e r again to turn the lamp off. The fa ns contin ue to run and the LED bl inks or ange for about 90 seconds, then the projector shuts off.

15 USING T HE PR OJECTOR This section d escribes how to use and m ake adju stments to the projector . It also provides a refer ence to the keypad and r emote buttons and the opti ons available from the on-screen menus. Basic Ima ge Adjustme nt 1 Make sure you have powered up your equipment in the right order (pa ge 1 1) .
16 Usin g the Projecto r The projector is equipped with a self-locking, q uick-release foot and a le veling f oot. T o raise the projector: 1 Raise the projector to the height you want, then press and hold the foo t release button. Rel ease the butto n to l ock the foot into position (Fi gure 1 1 ).
17 Using the Remote Cont rol T o advance PowerPoint slides with the projector ’s remote, you must connect the USB cable on the projector ’s computer cable to the computer . See page 8 for more i nformation. Point the remote control at the projection scr een or at the fr ont or rear o f the pr o jector (not at the computer).

21 Basic Menu F IGURE 16 Basic menu Contra st The contrast contro ls the degree of dif ference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Adjusting the contrast changes the amount of blac k and whit e in the image .
22 Usin g the Projecto r Ke y s t o n e This option helps to keep the image square as the angle of projec- tion is changed. Use this feature to adjust th e image vertically and make a squarer image. See page 19 for details on keystone adjust ment s. 1 Press the down button to highligh t Keystone, then press Select .

33 T r oublesho oting LEDs The Lamp LE D on top of the projector (Figu re 13 on page 18) w ill alert you to cert ai n problems . • A solid red Lamp LED means it is time to change the lamp. See page 30. • A blinking r ed Lamp LED means the pr o jector is over heat- ing.
