T o help y ou mak e the best use of your c ook er , PLEASE READ THIS BOOKLET CAREFULL Y . Y our new cooker is guaranteed and will give lasting service. The guar antee is only applicable if the cooker has been installed in accordance with the Installation Instructions.
Please read the precautions below befor e using your cooker . AL W A Y S . . . AL W A YS make sure you understand the controls bef ore using the co oker . AL W A YS check that all controls on the c ook er are turned off after use. AL W A YS stand back when opening an oven door t o allow heat to dis perse.
NEVER . . . NEVER leave childr en unsuper vised where the cooker is installed as all sur faces will get hot during and after use. NEVER allow any one to sit or stand on any part of the cook er . NEVER store items that childr en may attempt to reach abov e the c ooker .
The hotplate lid is fitted with a saf ety device that will cut off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Also , each burner is fitted with a safety device that will cut off the gas supply to it if the flame is extinguished for an y reason.
7 SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fa t . 2. Never leav e oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooli ng period. 3. Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan. 4. Always dry food thoroughly bef ore fr ying , and lower it slowly into the hot oil or fat.
8 AB C CA UTION – AC CESSIBLE P ARTS MA Y BECOME HO T WHEN THE GRILL IS USE D. Y OUNG CHILDREN SHOULD BE KEPT A W A Y . The grill is fitted with a safety device that will cut off the gas supply t o the burner if the flame is extinguished for any reason.
9 IMPORT ANT : The remov able deflec tor (B) must be positioned betw een the cont rol panel and deflector (A) when using the grill, to prevent ov erhe ating of the cooker knobs. After using the grill, always allow the remo vable deflector (B) to cool down before remo ving.
Grilling can be star ted fr om cold but for best results preheat for appr oximately two minutes. Most cooking is done with the heat on full, but it may be desirable to r educe it for thicker pieces of meat or f or k eeping food w arm. F or au gratin dishes eg.
The main ov en is fitted with a safety device that will cut off the gas supply to the burner if the flame is extinguished for any reason. Each time the o ven is used the safety device has to be activated by pushing and holding in the c ontrol k nob f or 3 seconds af ter the gas has lit.
C OLD ST ART COOKING Anything requiring long slow c ook ing such as casseroles and ric h fruit cakes can be put into a cold ov en. Satisfac tory results can also be obtained with creamed mixture, rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but for perfection we recommend preheating the o ven for about 15 minutes at the gas mark y ou require for cooking.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the set- ting to give a result mor e to your satisfaction. When a different setting to that sho wn below is given in a recipe , the recipe instructions should be followed .

Switch off the electricity supply and allow to c o ol befor e cleaning the cooker . Clean the cooker r egularly and wipe up spills soon af ter they occur t o prevent them from becoming burnt on.
16 C OOKER FINISH CLEANING METHOD Vitreous Enamel Hotplate , pan suppor ts, burner caps, roasting dish, grill pan, main oven base , inside of grill compartment Cloth wrung out in warm soapy water . Stubborn stains can be remov ed with a cream paste, liquid cleaner or by rubbing with fine steel wool soap pads.
17 PROBLEM Before contacting your Service C entre or Installer , check the problem guide below , there may be nothing wrong with y our cooker . CHECK Burner will not light: Burner por ts Ignitor Burne.
Oven lamp does not work The oven lamp is not c overed by the guarantee . The part is easily changed (see the sec tion on ov en lamp replacement). A new lamp may be obtained fr om our Spare P ar ts department, see Key Contacts (back page).
Prior to installation, ensur e that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment conditions ar e compatible. The adjustment conditions for this appliance ar e stated on the data badge which is fitted on the back panel.

UNP ACKING THE C OOKER Unpack the components from inside the grill and ov en: Check that the following parts are present. Grill pan and grid P an suppor ts Main oven shelves (2) Enamelled burner caps .
C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y Connection to the cooker must only be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669. A length of 0.9 to 1.25m is recommended . The length of hose chosen should be such that when the cooker is in situ, the hose does not touch the floor .
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a properly ear thed, r eadily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly above , and not more than 1.25m away from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such that it cannot t ouch hot par ts of the cooker i.

27 T o minimise the risk of injur y to children please dispose of yo ur product carefully and safely . Remove all doors and lids. Remove the mains cable (where fitted) b y cutting off flush with the appliance and always ensur e that no plug is lef t in a condition where it could be connected to the electricity supply .
