GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 7 General po wer tool safety warnings W ork area safety • Keep work area c lean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English • Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of par ts and any other condition that ma y affect the power tool´s operation. If damaged, have the po wer tool repaired before use.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 • Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fing ers encirc ling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the saw and position y our body and arm to allow y ou to resist kickback for ces. Kickbac k forces can be controlled by the operator , if proper precautions are taken.

GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 Ke ypad Make sure the machine is s witched on or off when the activate/deactiv ate button (1) is pressed and held (>1 sec.). The green LED (2) is lit or tur ned off. The warning indicator (3) flashes if the chain brake is activated or if there is a risk of ov erload.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English • The wa y the chain brake is activated, either man ually or automatically by the inertia release mechanism, depends on the force of the kic kback and the position of the chain saw in relation to the object that the kickbac k zone of the bar strikes.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 and maintained (see instructions under the heading General working instructions). Vibrations Cutting hardwoods (most broadleaf trees) creates more vibration than cutting softwoods (most conif ers).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Battery charger safety Only use Chargers, Husqv ar na QC, f or charging the Husqvarna replacement batteries, BLi. • Regularly check that the battery charger connection wire is intact and that there are no cracks in it.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Cutting equipment designed to reduce kickbac k The only wa y to avoid kic kback is to make sure that the kickbac k zone of the bar nev er touches anything.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 16 – English • A sharp chain eats its way through the wood and produces long, thick chips or sha vings. • The cutting par t of the chain is called the cutter and consists of a cutting tooth (A) and the depth gauge (B).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 17 General advice on adjusting depth gauge setting • When you sharpen the cutting tooth (A) the depth gauge setting (C) will decrease. T o maintain optimal cutting performance the depth gauge (B) has to be filed down to achie ve the recommended depth gauge setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 18 – English pull the saw chain round freely b y hand, and that there is no slack on the underside of the bar . The position of the chain tensioning screw on our chain saws v ar ies from model to model. See instructions under the heading What is what? to find out where it is on your model.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 19 Chain drive sproc ket The drive system is fitted with a drive sproc ket. Regularly check the degree of wear on the drive sproc ket. Replace if wear is e xcessive. Checking wear on cutting equipment Check the chain daily f or : • Visible crac ks in rivets and links.
ASSEMBL Y 20 – English Fitting the bar and chain • Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle. • Unscrew the bar nut and remo ve the drive sprock et cov er. Remov e the transpor tation guard (A).
B A TTER Y HANDLING English – 21 Battery status The display shows the battery capacity and if there are any problems with the battery . The battery capacity is display ed for 5 seconds after the machine is s witched off or the battery indicator button is pressed.
B A TTER Y HANDLING 22 – English T ranspor t and storage • The contained lithium-ion-batteries are subject to the Dangerous Goods Legislation requirements. • For commercial tr anspor ts e.g. by third par ties, forw arding agents, special requirement on packing and labeling must be observed.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 23 Starting and stopping • Before inserting the batter y into the machine, alwa ys check to see that the pow er tr igger actuates properly and returnes to the ”OFF” position when released. T o prev ent the power trigger from being accidentally pulled, a power trigger lock out is provided.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 24 – English Stopping The machine is deactiv ated by pressing the star t/stopp button on the k eypad (green LED off). Note! T o avoid in voluntar y start up, the battery must alwa ys be removed when the machine is not in use or is unsupervised.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 25 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the pow er tr igger lock out works correctly and is not damaged. 3 Check that the k eypad works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 26 – English g round to carry out safe rescue procedures and/or get help should an emergency arise. 3 During tree maintenance work above ground le vel, the working area should alwa ys be secured and mar ked out with signs, tape or the like .
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 27 does not need to be a danger , you ma y be sur prised and lose control of the saw . Nev er saw stack ed logs or branches without first separating them. Only saw one log or one piece at a time. Remov e the cut pieces to keep y our working area safe.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 28 – English a) attach the rope around the rope e yelet on the rear of the saw . b) provide suitable kar abiners to allow indirect (i.e. via the strop) and direct attachment (i.e. at the attachment point on the saw) of sa w to the operators har ness.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 29 Basic cutting technique General • Alwa ys use full throttle when cutting! • Let go of the power trigger after e very cut (r unning the motor for too long at full po wer without any load, i.e. without any resistance from the chain during cutting, can lead to serious damage to the motor).
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 30 – English Star t by cutting from belo w (about 1/3 of the way through). - Finish by cutting from abov e so that the two cuts meet. The log is supported at both ends. There is a high r isk that the chain will jam. - Star t by cutting from abo ve (about 1/3 of the wa y through).
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 31 Clearing the trunk and preparing y our retreat Delimb the stem up to shoulder height. It is saf er to work from the top down and to hav e the tree between you and the saw . Remov e any undergrowth from the base of the tree and check the area f or obstacles (stones, branches, holes , etc.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 32 – English mov e in the opposite direction to your intended felling direction. Finish the felling cut par allel with the directional cut line so that the distance between them is at least 1/10 of the trunk diameter. The uncut section of the trunk is called the felling hinge .
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 33 Make one or more cuts at or near the point of maximum tension. Make as many cuts of sufficient depth as necessary to reduce the tension and make the tree or branch break at the point of maximum tension.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this Operator's Manual. More extensiv e work must be carried out by an authorized service workshop.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Chain catcher • Check that the chain catcher is not damaged and is firmly attached to the body of the chain saw . Ke ypad • Activate the chain sa w (green LED on) and make sure the chain saw deactiv ates when the star t/stop button is pressed (green LED off).
MAINTENANCE 36 – English Battery • Make sure the battery is not damaged or deformed and that there are no visible def ects such as cracks. Battery charger • Make sure the battery charger and the power supply cord is not damaged or deformed and that there are no visable def ects such as cracks.
