English – 5 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Chain brake and front hand guar d Y our chain saw is equipped with a chain br ake that is designed to stop the chain immediately if you get a kic kback. The chain brak e reduces the risk of accidents, but only y ou can pre vent them.

8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Grasp the chain sa w firmly , wrapping your fingers and thumbs around the handles. Apply full throttle and activate the chain br ake b y tilting your left wrist forw ard onto the front hand guard. Do not let go of the front handle.
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Muffler Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly .

Combining these links in diff erent wa ys gives diff erent degrees of kic kback reduction. In ter ms of kickbac k reduction alone, f our different types of link are a vailab le.

12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS General advice on setting raker c learance • When you sharpen the cutting teeth you reduce the rak er clearance (=cutting depth). T o maintain optimal cutting perf ormance you must file back the r aker lip to the recommended height.
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Lubricating cutting equipment Chain oil Chain oil must demonstrate good adhesion to the chain and also maintain its flow characteristics regardless of whether it is warm summer or cold winter weather . W e recommend you compare the e xisting chain with a new chain to decide how badly the e xisting chain is wor n.
English – 15 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS How to a void kic kback What is kickbac k? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kic kback zone , touches an object.
16 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Cutting with the bottom edge of the bar , i.e. from the top of the object downw ards, is kno wn as cutting on the pull stroke . In this case the chain saw pulls itself to wards the tree and the front edge of the chain saw body rests naturally on the trunk when cutting.
English – 17 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Obser v e your surroundings and mak e sure that there is no risk of people or animals coming into contact with the cutting equipment. • Place the chain saw on the g round and hold the rear handle down with y our right foot.
18 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • T ake great care when removing small br anches and av oid cutting bushes (i.e . cutting many small branches at the same time). Small branches can be grab bed by the chain and thrown bac k at you, causing serious injury .
English – 19 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS In most cases you can a void these problems b y cutting in two stages; from the top and from the bottom. Y ou need to suppor t the object so that it will not trap the chain or split during cutting.
20 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS T ree felling tec hnique Safe distance The saf e distance between a tree that is to be f elled and any one else working nearby is at least 21/2 tree lengths . Make sure that no-one else is in this ”risk zone” before or during felling.
English – 21 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the trunk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° . The line where the two cuts meet is called the directional cut line. This line should be perf ectly horizontal and at right angles (90 ° ) to the chosen f elling direction.
22 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Limbing Make sure that y ou can stand and move about saf ely . Work on the left side of the trunk. W or k as close as possib le to the chain saw f or maximum control. If possible, let the w eight of the chain saw rest on the trunk.

24 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position b y moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle . Remov e the bar nuts and remove the clutch co v er (chain brak e). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
English – 25 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of gasoline and two-strok e engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
26 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mix ed by shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
English – 27 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brak e should be activ ated when star ting the chain saw . Activate the chain brak e by pushing the front hand guard f orwards . Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left.
28 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the wa y out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully e xtended. This can damage the machine. Pull the front hand guard tow ards the front handle.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
30 – English MAINTENANCE High speed jet H This chain saw is equipped with a carb urettor that has a built- in fix ed high speed jet. CA UTION! There is an integrated speed governor in the ignition that limits the maximum speed to 12,000 rpm. Adjusting the jet therefore has no eff ect on the maximum speed.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE • Remov e the recoil spr ing by tapping the starter , with the inside f acing downw ards, gently on a work bench. If the spring pops out dur ing assemb ly , coil it up from the outside, working inwards . • Lubricate the recoil spr ing with light oil.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases aw a y from the operator . The e xhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dr y and comb ustible material.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter . 2 Air guide plate. 3 Fins on the flywheel. 4 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
