8 2.4.2 Setting Up Your Mo bil e Phone The first time you po wer on your mobile phone, the ph one displays a setup wizard t o help you set up the phone. The setup wizard he lps you: • Create or sign in to you r account. • Make some initial decisions a bout how you want to use y our mobile pho ne.

12 2.7. 2 Notifi cation Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new message or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. 13 2.7.4 Customizing the Home Sc reen Adding a New Home Scree n It em 1. Touch and hold a blank area on the Home screen until the Add to Home screen menu is displayed. You can also touch > Add on the Home screen to display the Add to Home screen menu.

15 1. Connect your mobile phone to your PC with the USB cable provided. Your PC will detect the microSD card as a removable stor age device. 2. Open the notification ba r, and then touch USB connected . 3. Touch Turn on USB storage in the dialog box that opens to confirm that you want to trans fer files.
16 3.1. 1 Making a Call wi th the Dia ler Appli cation Your mobile phone supp orts the SmartDial function, that is, wh en you touch numbers on the dialer, the phone automatic ally searches among you r contacts and lists the matching results orde red according t o the accuracy of the match.
17 Drag to the right to answer the call. 3.2.2 Ending a Ca l l During a call, touch End to hang up. 3.2.3 Rejecting an Incoming Call Drag to the left to reject the call. You can also drag up t he bar at the bottom of the sc reen to reject a call an d send the caller a message.
18 3.3 Other Op erations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Co nference Call If you receive a new call while you are already in a call, you can add the second call to the call you are in. Th is feature is known as conference ca lli ng. Yo u can also set up a conference call with multiple callers.

20 4 Contacts The Contacts application enables you to sa ve and manage information s uch as phone numbers and addres ses of your contacts. After you save cont act information on your mobile phone, you hav e easy access to the people with whom you want to communicate.
21 4.4 Searching for a Con tact 1. In the contact list, touc h > Search . 2. Enter the name of the contact you wish to sear ch for. As you type, contacts with matching names ap pear below the searc h box. On the contact list screen, you can touch a letter on the right to disp lay contacts starting with the touched let t er.

For details, see Changing an Account’s Synchroniz ation Settings. 4.9 Streams Streams is a client that integrates social networking serv ice (SNS) func tions, such as Facebook and Twitter.
24 4.9.4 Adding the Streams Widget to the Home Screen Touch and hold t he blank area of the Home screen. In the displayed menu, t ouch Add widget > Streams to add it to the Home screen. Using the widget, yo u can quickly acce ss Streams , or directly browse t he latest events and update the st atus of your friends on the Home screen.
25 4.11 Joining and Separa ting Contacts You may have duplicate c ontacts if you import conta cts by: • Adding an account, suc h as a Gmail account. • Using the social netw orking services such as Facebook or Tw it ter. ( If your phone has the Streams function, you can us e it to acc ess Facebook or Twitter.
26 4.12 Sending Contacts You can send contacts as a .vc f file via Bluetooth or Email. 1. In the contacts list, touc h . 2. Select contacts that you want to send. 3. Touch Send . 4. Select the way you pref er to send the contacts yo u have selected, for example Bluetooth or Email.

You can share your mobile phon e's data connection wi th a number of devices at the sa me time, by turning your phone int o a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
36 7.3.3 Sharing Your Phone’s Data Connection as a Portable Wi-F i Hotspot 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Tethering & portable hotspot . 3. Select the Portable Wi-Fi hotspo t check box to share yo ur data connection.
37 7.5 Browser Your mobile phone comes wit h an Internet browser pre-in stalled. 7.5.1 Opening the Browser Touch > Browser to open the home page. When known or o pen Wi-Fi networks and mo bile data networks are available at the same time, your phone will preferab ly select a Wi-Fi network for Internet access.

40 8 Entertainment In addition to being a communication dev ice and personal assistant, your mobile phone also provides you with a multitude of entertainment possibilities. You can take photos, create videos and au dio clips, and download and listen to music.
41 4. Touch to take y our photo. Photos taken are displayed for a moment. You can take an other photo or revie w your photos. 8.1. 3 Viewing Your Phot os 1. After taking a photo, a thumbnail of the photo you ha ve just taken is shown in the upper right corner of the capture screen.
42 8.2 Using the Gallery Your Gallery application can automatically s earch for pictures and videos on your mobile phone and microSD card. Use Gallery to sort photos a nd videos into folders, view and edit pictures, wa tch videos, and set a pictur e as wallpaper or as a photo for a contact.

The first time you open the Gmail application on your phone, yo ur Inbox will contain the messages from your Gmail web account.

51 10.1.1 Adding an Account When you add an account , the Contacts application compares cont acts from the newly synchronized ac count with contact s from your existing mobile phone account s and attempts to merge duplicate s into a single entry in Contacts .
