Label Icon Name and Descript ion 11 Scan Menu : Opens the Scan Menu where you can select a destination for your scan. 12 Start Scan : Starts a scan. 13 Copy Menu : Opens the Copy Menu where you can select copy options, such as number of copies, paper size, and paper type.
Icon Purpose Shows that an unknown ink cartridge is inserted. Th is icon might appear if an ink cartridge con tains non-HP ink. Indicates that there is a wired network connectio n. Displa y sleep state To prolong the life of th e display, it dims aft e r two min utes of inactivity.
Photosmart Exp ress Menu The fol lowing opt ions are avail able in t he Photosmart Ex press menu when you insert a memory card or press Photo Menu on the control pan el. 6 Load originals and load paper You can load many diffe rent types and sizes of paper in the HP All-in-One, in cluding letter or A4 paper, legal pap e r, phot o paper, tran sparencies, en velopes, and HP C D/DVD tattoo labels.
Choose papers for printing and copying You can use di fferent types an d sizes of paper in the HP All -in-One. Review the following recommenda tions to get th e best printing and copying quality. W henever you change paper types o r sizes, remember t o change those settings.

4. Slide the pap er-width and pape r-length guides inward until they stop at t he edges of the paper. Do not overloa d the main inpu t tray; make sure the stack of paper fits withi n the input tray and is no higher than the to p of the paper-w idth guide.

7 Print from your computer The HP All-i n-One can be used wit h any softwa re applicatio n that all ows printing. You can print a range of p rojects, such a s borderless imag es, newsletters, greeting cards, iron-on transfers, and post ers.

Print using Maximum dpi Use Maximum dpi mode to print high-q uality, sharp image s. To get the most be nefit from Maximum dpi mode, use it to print high-q uality imag es such as digital phot ographs. When you select the Maximum dpi setting, the printer softwa re displays the optim ized dots per inch (dpi) that the HP All-in-One will print.
Print a multiple-p age document as a booklet The HP All-in-O ne allows you to prin t your document as a sm all booklet, which you can fold and th en staple to gether. For best results, design your d ocument to fit on a m ultiple of four p ages, such as an 8, 12, or 16-page prog ram for a child's school pl ay or for a wedding.

Print a poster You can create a poster by pri nting a document o n multiple pages. The HP All-in-One prints dotte d lines on some pages to i ndicate where to trim the pages befo re taping them together. To print a poster 1. Make sure you have paper loaded in th e input tray.
To print a We b page 1. Make sure you ha ve paper loaded in the m ain input t ray. 2. On the File menu in your Web bro wser, click Print . The Print d ialog box appea rs. 3. Make sure the HP All-in-One is the selected printer. 4. If your Web browse r supports it, select t he items on the Web page tha t you want to include in t he printout.

• Automatica lly enhance your photos • Fix a faded original Zoom and pan to crop a photo The HP All-in-One en ables you to zoom in or out on a specific area of a photo. When you print the pho to, the photo is cropped so onl y the area shown on the display prints.
To rotate a photo 1. Insert a memory card i nto the appropria te slot on the HP All -in-One. The Photosmart Express menu app ears, with the most recent photo shown on the display. 2. With View highlighted, press OK . You can use or for highlighting options.
Print a frame around your p hoto You can print a decorative col ored border around the outside edge of your photo t o frame the photo. NOTE: The changes you m ake to the photo app ly only to viewing and printing the photo. The cha nges will not be sa ved on the memory card.

9 Use the scan features Scanning is the proce ss of convertin g text and pictures into an electronic format fo r your computer. You can sca n almost anything (photos, magazine article s and text do cuments) on the HP All- in-One.

To scan to a computer 1. Load your original print side down on the right f ront corner of the glass. 2. Press Scan Menu on the control pa nel. 3. Resize an origina l to fit onto letter or A4 pa per You can use the Fit to Page fea ture to copy an original to fit within the printabl e margins of a page wit hout the risk of cropping some part of your original. This i s useful for red ucing or enlarging an origi nal.
6. Press or to select a percentage to reduce or enlarge the copy. (The minimum and maximum percenta ge to resize a copy varies b y model.) 7. Press OK . Crop an original After changing settings on t he HP All-in-O ne for making a cop y, you can use the crop feature t o specify a part i cular area of the original to copy.
The Mixed enhancem ent is the default optio n. Use the Mixed enhancement to sharpen edges of most originals. You can use Photo enhancemen ts to enhance light colors th at might otherw ise appear white.

11 Print reports and forms The HP All-in-On e enables you to print self-test reports. You can also print forms such as ruled papers a nd checklists. This section co ntains the following topi cs: • P.
Print forms The HP All-in-O ne contains built-in templates that e nable you to print com mon forms, such as narrow or wi de ruled noteboo k paper, graph pape r, task checklist s, and music sheets on plain le tter- or A4-size pa per. To print forms from the contro l panel 1.
12 Maintain the HP All-in-One The HP All- in-One requi res little mainte nance. Sometimes yo u might want to clea n the glass and lid backing to remove surface dust and ensure that your copies an d scans remain clear. You will also need to repla ce ink cartridges, clean the pri nt head asse mbly, or align the pri nter from time to ti me.
Clean the lid backing Minor debris can accumula te on the wh ite document b acking located undern eath the lid of the HP All-in -One. To clean the lid b acking 1. Turn off the HP All-in-One, and raise the li d. 2. Clean the w hite document backing with a so ft cloth or sponge slightly mo istened with a mild so ap and warm wate r.
3. Press to highlig ht Display Ink Gauge , and then press OK . The HP All-i n-One displays a gauge that shows the estimat ed ink levels o f all cartridges install ed. 4. Press any button to retu rn to the Tools menu. To check the ink le vels from the H P Photosmart Software 1.
NOTE: If you are installing i nk cartridges in the HP All-in -One for the first time, be sure to use only the ink cartridg es that came wi th the device. The i nk in these cartridges is specia lly formulated to mix wi th the ink in the print head assemb ly at first- time set up.
If you are replacing o n e of the f ive color ink cartridges, such as yellow, light cyan (blue), cyan, light magent a (pink), or magent a, lift the appropriate latch in the center area. 1 Ink cartridge latch for the black ink cartridge 2 Ink cartridge latches for the colo r ink cartridges 4.
5. Remove the new ink cartridge f rom its packaging, an d then, holdi ng it by the handl e, push the ink cartridg e into the empty slot. Match the color an d pattern of th e ink cartridge to t he color and pat tern on the pr int carriage. 6. Close the latch and make sure it is secure.

To clean the print head from the c ontrol panel 1. Load lette r or A4 unused plain wh ite paper into the input tray. 2. Press Setup . 3. Press to highlight Too ls , and then press OK . 4. Press to highlight Cl ean Printhead , and then press OK . The HP All-in-One cleans the print head and prints a pa ge that you can recycle or discard.
To clean the in k cartridge c ontacts 1. Make sure the HP All -in-One is turned on. 2. Lift the in k cartridge door. 3. Squeeze the bottom o f the latch below the ink cartridge you w ant to clean, and then lift the latch. NOTE: Do not remove mul tiple ink cartridges at the sam e time.
Remove ink from your sk in and clothing Follow these i nstructions to remove ink from yo ur skin and clothing: Surface Remedy Skin Wash the area with an ab rasive soap. White fabric Wash the fabric in cold water and use chlorine bleach. Color fabric Wash the fabric in cold water and use sudsy ammonia.
13 Shop for ink supplies For a list of ink cart ridge numbers, see the pri n ted docume ntation that came with the HP All-in-O ne. You can a l so us e the sof tware that came wi th the HP All-in-One to find out the re order number for all the ink cartridges.

sure the other e nd of the USB cable is plugged in to a USB port on your com puter. After the cable is connected properly, t urn the HP All-in-One off and the n on again. • If you are conn ecting the HP All-in-One thro ugh a USB hub, make sure the hub i s turned o n.
• Do not clean the print head unnecessari ly. This wast es ink and shortens th e life of the cartridges. • Handle ink cartridg es carefully. Dropping , jarring, or rough handl ing during installatio n can cause temp orary printing prob lems. Informat ion on paper The HP All-in-On e is designed to work we ll with most paper types.
3. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper tears wh en you are removi ng it from the ro llers, check the rollers and wheels for to rn pieces of paper tha t might be remaining inside the device. Cause: The file system is corrupted. Solution: Check the display for an error message tel ling you that the images on the memory card are corrupt ed. If the file system on the card is corr upt, reformat the memory card in your digital camera. CAUTION: Reformatting the memory card will dele te any photos stored on the card.
Solution: Remove all bu t one memory card. The HP All-in-One reads the remai ning memory card and displays t he first photo stored o n the memory card. Cause: You have inserte d a Compact Flash memory c ard backwards or upsi de down. Solution: Remove the m emory card and rei nsert it correctly.
Solution: Make su re you fully insert the memory card into the appropriate sl ot on the HP All- in-One, and th en try the task again. Card access error Cause: There are two or more memory cards inserted into the HP All-in-One at the same time. Solution: Remove all but one memory card.
If the memory card is not inserted properl y, the HP All-in-One w ill not respond an d the Photo ligh t (near the memory card slots) will not turn on. After the mem ory card has been in serted properly, th e Photo light wi ll blink for a few seconds, and then re main lit.

Alignment failed Cause: An incorrect type of paper is loade d in the input t ray.
