3 The XM service is based on two satellites that have fixed positions over the equator . One satellite for the east coast of the United S tates and the other for the west coast. The two satellites continuously broadcast radio signals throughout the continental United S tates.
4 Satellite signals are received best in the areas where there are no tall buildings, trees or tall objects that can obstruct the signals. Locations where satellite signals are received easily There may be ground-based coverage in some of these areas that will provide uninterrupted service of satellite radio.
5 Sound in your car The signal is broadcast in a digital format so that if you do run into a situation where both the satellite antenna and the ground-based antenna lose the signal the sound will drop off completely . This condition would result in no static and may sound as though the unit were shut off.
6 T urning power on and off 1. Press the SOURCE POWER button to turn the unit on. NOTE: The unit can be turned on by pressing any of the buttons of the display module. 2. Press and hold the SOURCE POWER button for 2 seconds or more to turn the unit off.
7 Modulator frequency setting 1. Press and hold the DISP SETUP for 2 seconds or more. 2. T urn the rotary encoder or press the 6 or 5 button to select the frequency setting mode (displays the frequency of the desired modulation station). 3. Press the 7 or 8 button to set the frequency .
8 XM level setting (XM output level) When your XM receiver is connected to the factory installed radio, this feature will allow the user to choose between 4 levels of output (XM level 1 to 4) to better match the output level of the Honda/ Acura radio.
9 Scrolling feature This feature allows the broadcast text information such as artist, song tittle and station information to move continuously across the screen. This is the default setting however this feature can be disabled if the user prefers no scrolling.
10 Receiving XM channels with the XM receiver 1 . T urn the vehicles radio on to FM and tune to the XM radios modulator fre- quency (between 88.7 to 89.9). Refer to page 7 for how to set XM radios modulator frequency . 2 . Press the POWER button of the display module to turn the XM radio on.
11 S toring XM channel preset s 1. Af ter tuning in the desired channel, press and hold the rotary knob for 2 seconds or more until the channel name on the display blinks. 2. T urn the rotary knob to select the preset number you want to store. 3. Press the rotary knob within 5 seconds once when the correct preset number is dis- played.
12 Category search Category search functionally allows you to search for a specific channel by the category of pro- gramming it offers, or to surf within a category . 1. Momentarily press the rotary knob to display the category of the channel that is cur- rently selected.
13 Changing the display T ext information, such as the channel name, artist name/feature, and song/program tittle, is available with each XM channel. This unit can display this text information as explained below 1. Press the DISP SETUP button. Each time you press the button, the display changes as shown below .
14 If you encounter a problem, please review the items listed below . This guide will help you to isolate the problem. Make sure the rest of your system is operating properly . If necessary consult your local authorized Honda dealer . SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION XM r adio will not operate.
15 • The XM antenna is not connected to the XM radio module - Check whether the XM antenna cable is att ached securely to the XM radio module. UPDATI NG • XM radio is being updated with the latest encryption code. - W ait until encryption code is fully updated.
16 • XM radio is acquiring audio or program information - W ait until the radio has received the information • The channel currently selected has stopped broadcasting. - Select another channel. • The user selected a channel number that does not exist or is not subscribed to.
